Re-Using Draft Boards year to year (1 Viewer)

This is the first year we're using a cardboard draftboard. I'm inclined to re-use the thing next year to save our league a couple of bucks. We got ours from FJ Fantasy this year and it looks pretty good.

Anyway, I noticed you can just order the labels each year from the website. Two ways I considered being able to re-use this thing are:

1. Pushpin the labels onto the board.

2. Simply place the new labels next year over the old lables-crossing out the old ones I guess.

Sorry for such a boring topic, just want a couple of quick ideas from y'all that have re-used your cardboard draftboards in the past.

maybe scribble out the previous year's stickers with a marker?

paint over last year's stickers?

wouldn't it be easy to just make a board from poster board and draw the grid on it?

the stickers are nice. much better than writing in the picks.

I laminated the draft board to a presentation board from Staples or Office Depot. I then used velcro on each space where the sticker would go. Laminated the stickers and put the other half of the velcro on the labels.

Works great except you have to either get new labels for rookies or write them in. I just write them in and no one has problems with it

crossing out the prior year's stickers is a possiblity, probably much easier than using a pushpin.I'm looking forward to using the stickers, getting the resolution right and a suitable surface for the projector just became too much of a PITA the last couple years. Not to mention the uncertainty of borrowing the projector each year.

I like the idea of laminating the draft board, velcro too. I could see laminating new labels each year also. How did you laminate the labels? I presume they have to be individually laminated?

If you have put the stickers on the draft board already, I wouldn't go back and mess it up by crossing out the names next year.

We pull out the draft boards from all the previous seasons at our current draft to 1) research when players went in previous seasons and to look for trends and 2) to make fun of the picks that were made in previous years.

Its very easy. Go to staples and but laminating paper for the draft board. It is not the stuff that you need to use a machine for. Its made by Avery and its called Self-Adhesive Laminating Sheets. It comes in a 50 pack. You put the draft board on the presentation board and carefully begin laminating to presentation board. Then you take your labels and stick the entire sheet down on one side of the laminating paper. Then cover with a 2nd sheet and you have laminated labels. Let me know if you need any more help then that.

Figure out how much your time is worth per hour ($).

Then, figure out how much time you would spend creating or recycling a draft board versus buying a new one (H).

$ x H = opportunity cost (or, how much $ you're losing by spending time on this instead of other things)

If opportunity cost is more than the cost of a new board/stickers, then buy the new board.

Hell, it's $40 or less for most draft boards; that's probably $4 per team or less, depending upon the size of your league. Don't overthink it.

I painted the wall over my fireplace with a magnetic receptive primer, so after painting it I can attach magnets to the wall.

I made magnets for each player using inkjet printable magnets, and a single magnet for each fantasy team.

My initial costs were somewhat high, but we can use the magnets for years with only minor updates.

We designate someone to place the magnets on the wall as players are chosen.

Here's a pic of last year's board.

edited to add: One thing in favor of this method is if someone screws up a putting a label on it's a big deal - if they screw up a magnet it's no worries.

NICE! We used the magnetic primer on a portion of may daughters' room, they have fun with the magnets!
