Who is Andre Hall (1 Viewer)

Lots of speculation out there about who will start in Denver.

I don't have Selvin Young on my roster and hard as I try I can't get excited about Mike Bell or Cecil Sapp.

So what about Andre Hall...

I did some research...you make the call.

Andre Hall, Running Back

Height: 5' 10"

Weight: 212 lbs.

College: South Florida

Born: in

Acquired: Free Agent, 2006

Pro Year: 1st

Year with Broncos: 1

NFL Games Played/Started: 0/0

Postseason: 0/0

Andre Hall is a first-year running back who joined the Broncos on Nov. 13 as a free agent and spent the final seven weeks of the 2006 season on the club’s practice squad. He entered the NFL as a college free agent with Tampa Bay on May 1, 2006, but was waived on July 21 of that year. Chicago signed him on Aug. 3, 2006, but waived him on Sept. 1, 2006. Hall completed his two-year collegiate career as the University of South Florida’s all-time leading rusher with 2,731 yards on 480 carries (5.7 avg.) with 24 touchdowns. He also caught 44 career passes for 470 yards (10.7 avg.) with three scores while returning 16 kickoffs for 332 yards (20.8). He eclipsed the 100-yard rushing mark 12 times in 23 career games, including three 200-yard outings, and was chosen as a first-team All-Big East Conference selection in 2005. That year, he set USF single-season records for rushing yards (1,374) and rushing touchdowns (13). Before attending South Florida, Hall played for Georgia Military Academy and was a two-time National Junior College Athletic Association All-American who was tabbed the nation’s top JUCO running back recruit by Rivals.com. Hall enjoyed a standout high school career at Dixie Hollins High School in St. Petersburg, Fla., leading Pinellas County in rushing with 1,742 yards and 26 touchdowns on 227 carries (7.7 avg.) in 2000, his only season of high school football. He also participated in wrestling and track in high school. He is the son of Carol Barthel and Captain Hall, who was an army engineer in World War II. Hall is the youngest of nine children and enjoys playing chess, once defeating Pro Football Hall of Fame running back Jim Brown in a match. A liberal arts major at USF, Andre Hall was born on Aug. 20, 1982, in St. Petersburg, Fla.

2007: He was declared inactive for the first three games of the season before making his pro debut at Ind. (9/30). He did not record any stats in his pro debut against the Colts..
Nov. 11, 2006 - 9:48 p.m. ET

Broncos signed RB Andre Hall to the practice squad.

Hall fell out of April's draft despite running one of the faster forty times at the Combine, and has spent time with Tampa and Chicago. Any running back close to Denver's active roster is worth monitoring.

"One back, two backs, three backs, it doesn't matter," Shanahan said. "What matters is having a great back. If Travis gets tired, I think Selvin Young is a natural running back. He brings a lot. ... We have two other fullbacks who are good tailbacks in Mike Bell and Cecil Sapp. We like Andre Hall. We feel like our depth at tailback is as good as we've had."
The Broncos cruised to a 21-3 victory over the Arizona Cardinals in their final preseason game at Invesco Field, as 4-point favorites. The combined 24 points were well UNDER the posted total of 39.5.

Andre Hall ran for two touchdowns to lead the Broncos, while QB Darrell Hackney was good on 6-of-13 pass attempts for 84 yards.

During the first week or so of training camp, Hall was showing explosiveness and he's a different type of RB than the others they have on the roster (Henry, Young, Bell, Sapp). He was a HS phenom in Florida, had a solid collegiate career then, as I recall, he didn't stick with his first few clubs (TB, Chicago, etc) before he landed with Denver.

Bloom and Lammey liked what they saw of Hall in Dove Valley early in camp. He has a style that seems to be well suited to the Broncos running game. He's one of these guys who didn't truly understand what it took to be a professional football player with regards to training, diet and preparing himself. He appeared to be "getting it" this summer and I think he's still a player of interest. We all know that any back rostered by Denver is of interest, especially after what we've seen with all the succession of late round and undrafted players beginning with Terrell Davis, Mike Anderson, Olandis Gary and then picking back up with Mike Bell and Selvin Young. As long as Hall is on the roster and especially if Henry is suspended, he becomes much more interesting.

That's my $.02 worth.

One of Travis Henry's sons, perhaps?
He and Travis are tight - he said Travis was teaching him "everything" in when We interviewed him at Dove Valley during training camp
"Everything" huh? Well, guess I'm staying away from Andre Hall.
I hope youre joking, because he does have value right now and should be rostered. He's the most talented back they have after Henry.

Did anyone else think Hall looked a lot better than Young did in the last preseason game? In fact, i don't remember exactly but I'm pretty sure Hall started over young and had two TDs. I was a little surprised that it was Young and not Hall that got the bump up on the depth chart

Hey Bloom... so Selvin or Andre? Any real chance Andre becomes the feature back?

Who, in your opinion, would be the 1-2nd down guy, the 3rd down/pass catcher, and goalline back out of the platoon that is there?

Young can be the everything back. I just doubt his ability to hold up physically. Faletti who watched every play of Selvin's career at UT, feels that his fumbling issue could also rear its ugly head and talked about it last night on the audible. Hall is smaller so maybe he is not best suited for blitz pickup. Sapp is the best power runner, he relishes collisions. All three are worth owning, I think Hall has the most upside.

That's great if you have lots of roster spots. But in larger leagues with few bench players, you're going to have to cut someone fairly decent to pickup Hall or Sapp. For instance, I have Henry in one league. To pickup Hall or Sapp I'd have to drop either Jerricho Cotchery or Brandon Marshall. Even though I'm in quite a tight spot, dropping Cotchery or Marshall to take a flyer on Hall or Sapp isn't all that enticing. I'd have to be pretty sure that the guy I'm picking up isn't going to actually be used and score some points for me.

Definitely harder to buy the Denver RB lottery ticket when bench spots are a premium. How many WRs do you start? How many you have ahead of Cotchery/Marshall? I mean if you start 2 and Marshall is your WR5, then maybe you try a Sapp or Hall if you REALLY need some help at RB.

Hey Bloom, would you personally pick up Hall before Sapp and Bell if you could only afford to pick up 1 and all 3 were available?

I believe Hall was active in week 4. Young was already on the radar, so most of us will have a tough time getting him as he'll be already on someone's roster or a very popular waiver pick up this week. With Denver on a bye next week, Hall is a good guy to take a chance on in case he works his way into the week 6 RB mix.

Of course for all we know, this Travis Henry thing could blow over like a puff of pot smoke and Henry could keep his job all season.

Bell a distant 3rd... Sapp vs. Bell depends on scoring, your roster, lineups, and your philosophy. I think Sapp could be a workmanlike back for them, a Ladell Betts type - but not with quite the Betts 06 level of success (which isnt saying much since Betts was a STUD during that stretch). Hall is more of a talent, he could bust the long runs, and he has decent power for a smaller back. He really was running a lot more like Henry in camp. Hall is the swing for the fences pick. I can't really say who Shanny and co would favor if Young cant handle the load - I think both guys CAN be successful. In one league where I have severe problems at RB2 (was Deuce), I put Hall ahead of Sapp in my waiver claims. Hope that helps.

How about in a dynasty? Who do we see as the likely guy next year? Hall? Young?
I want this answer too, thanks for asking. I am in a new dynasty league this yr. I am curious about guesses at next yr, I know its early, but i enjoy the opinions.
I'd have to drop someone of value, (McAllister), but it seems like he may be worth a flier. Hard to say.... He seems to have as good a chance as anyone to emerge in that system, especially if Young falters or is injured.
