What the hell is going on this week? (1 Viewer)

I know its championship week but some people are overthinking playing their great players way too much. They got you here, play them. Ive seen people benching Chad Johnson, Tony Romo, and Big Ben. Unless you guys got absolute studs as backups as well how can you consider benching any of them?

Johnson hasnt been phenomenal this year but HES PLAYING THE BROWNS. Unless there's bad weather you cant bench him.

Romo practiced fully and just had a bad game. You cant bench him.

Roethlisberger threw 3 TDs last week. Why the hesitation to start him this week vs a poor Rams pass defense? You cant bench him.

Oh add Antonio Gates to the list of studs people are considering benching. Theyre playing the worst def vs TEs in football and Gates is healthy. Dont overthink this.

Your right, I cant bench Chad....He played me right out of the playoffs.

I dont get Chad. First year owning and likely the last. Half of his seasons stats came in about 3 games. Id much rather have a guy who overall scores less, but is a bit more consistant.

The way Chad and Palmer are playing lately...I can't fault anyone for benching Chad

good post... Considering I'm toying with Vernon Davis in lieu of AG... he's just been horrid lately.

But if you are in a league where TE=WR and you have Branch and Santonio Holmes with Gates and you start two, then there is the question...

I'm benching Larry Johnson, Cadillac Williams, Roy Williams, DJ Hackett, Laveranues Coles, Demeco Ryans, Keith Bulluck, John Abraham, Gibril Wilson among others.

I notice you didn't mention Addai . . .

"U.S. Americans..."

Do not bench your studs. If you lose because JJ Arrington was on your bench and scored 4 TDs, you would be disappointed. If you lose because you start JJ Arrington and he gets 6 yards but LT is on your bench and scores 2 TDs, then you deserve what you get.

As we all know everyone reacts to things that happen right now. I think last week has people questioning their studs, I hope my opponent does the same thing.

Because he has a legit questionmark hanging over his head this week

Chad Johnson, Andre Johnson, Wayne, Edwards, Driver, Start 3.

I am benching the Chad for the others, except Driver.

May I ask why this is funny? Where does Dodds have these three ranked among WR/TE list?

I was hopeful that this would be the one thread to make me feel better about Addai this week. Oh well . . .

So, what if I have Romo and Ben? Why can't I bench them for Kurt Warner, Matt Hasselbeck, Drew Brees, Brett Favre, Carson Palmer, or Donovan McNabb?I'd probably bench Brady or Peyton for Warner, Hass or Brees this week; and it's very easy to have two of these guys.

I've used the same exact lineup starting from the last few games of the regular ff season, and into the playoffs. They led me this far, and I will continue using the same lineup this week in the championship. No reason not to.

Same here. I was hoping for a good reason to start Addai and keep Jamal Lewis on the bench, but...when I see that Jamal has outscored Addai each of the last 5 weeks....hmmmMy other decision is Chad Johnson or Greg Jennings....I am sticking with Johnson, even though Jennings has outscored him the last 3 weeks. Chad just has to much of a chance to go nuts!

I am just as concerned about Housh. Where did he go? I am rolling with him and Andre over Calvin and Gonzalez (mainly because TJ was a friggin stud for 75% of the season and Andre, now healthy, is an uber-stud). I can't say that I am not second guessing myself. I don't even want to get into the Addai/MBIII/Maroney-start two thing. I've got no idea what I am doing there.

Well these are the cream of the crop teams, so sometimes it's a question of which stud to sit..

.. like in my 8 teamer, it's M Barber or Parker.

Chad Johnson, Andre Johnson, Wayne, Edwards, Driver, Start 3.I am benching the Chad for the others, except Driver.
 Chad Johnson, Reggie Wayne, Braylon Edwards, Brandon Marhsall, AD, FWP, Jacobs, Plax, Santonio Holmes. start 6CJ, Plax and Holmes see the bench this week.

what about the Steelers D/ST? Are they considered studs? they were the #1 ranked D just last week... i'm benching them.

I'm thinking about benching LT. He never does well in week 16 and Sproles is going to steal lots of carries. If healthy, I'm thinking of starting Turner in his place.

what is the legit question mark? The bad game last week? Is that a reason to bench your stud? Addai is still the #4 back going up against a D w/o a healthy DeMeco Ryans...Why is benching Addai any different than the others?

Umm cuz the Colts clinched the #2 seed and may or may not give him more of a breather this week by subbing in Keith.

I don't really know why you would bench your studs this week but SSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH....

I'm hoping that some of the owners I'm playing, read all of these "I'm benching _____________ " threads and decide to bench their studs as well. I could certainly use all the help I can get on my "studless" teams.

I dont get Chad. First year owning and likely the last. Half of his seasons stats came in about 3 games.
Yeah, sorry about that. It seems like almost everyone learns that one the hard way. I had him 2 years ago and vowed never to draft him again. Housh is much better value 2 rounds later. Me and Housh are going to try and win a championship this weekend.

2 things:1) Philly is going to shut down Brees this weekend so I'd take him off that list of yours. I'm actually benching Brees in favor of big Ben.2) Nobody can take you seriously until you take that stupid elect Hilary off your signature!

i have no studs to bench

Brees( no back-up)

Stecker

S young

H Ward

Plax

Gonzo

Elam

GreenBay

How did I even get to the final? Wish I had the "benching studs" problem.

for me, it's just a matter of having options. i have favre, who has been more consistent than big ben. still very unsure what to do.you can bunch your studs...for other studs.

I am not sure that Philly is going to shut down Brees. That offense has been rolling along pretty well on the strength of the passing game. i do not think Phillys Defense was nearly as successful last week as they appeared. Romo's thumb was the cause for their great success. Big Ben in St. Louis is appealing if you have both, but benching Brees in week 16 if you are still playing is not very wise, considering he is probably a good part of why you are still alive week 16.

Benching Portis for Kolby Smith. Hopefully that doesn't come back to bite my in the #### since he's one of the factors that got me into my championship game, but the Minnesota run defense is just to scary right now to take the risk.

He played the whole game last week (until the starters were taken out)
In other news, I've won every single bet I've placed this year, except for the ones that I lost.
good for u

Is that the general feeling? I hadn't seen any threads on that yet. I would think that Indy got burned on this before, and that they wouldn't be going down that route, especially given that Kieth might be a little dinged up.link

Indianapolis Colts coach Tony Dungy said Monday he plans to use his players "like we normally would" in Sunday's game against Houston.

The Colts' victory at Oakland on Sunday assured them of the No. 2 seed and a first-round bye in the AFC playoffs no matter what happens in their final two regular-season games, against Houston and Tennessee, both at the RCA Dome.

That raised the question of whether the Colts would rest their starters, but Dungy said the team will try to keep an edge without sustaining more injuries. Indy's first playoff game will be Jan. 12 or 13.

"A month is a long time," Dungy said.

How does one "keep an edge without sustaining more injuries"? One possible way: Give Addai enough snaps to keep him sharp ... a quarter or two .... then sit him for the rest of the game. That at least lowers injury risk.I think that's a real possibility and am seriously considering starting Kolby Smith over him. All of the quotes from Manning about wanting to get in sync only mentioned receivers. Addai was noticeably absent from any quotes from Dungy or Manning.

I have Brady & Roethlisberger

3pts passing TD

6 pts rushing

.04 pts per passing yard

So far, have Brady starting... but am so afraid of the 1/2 game benching!

Do I start Ben against the weak STL D?
