Javon Walker (1 Viewer)

Walker isn't even close to being in TO's league. TO has shown his ability to recover from injury much quicker and his talent his heads and tails above Walker. At least TO has the stats to back up his talk, Walker has next to nothing to back his up. The guy is a malcontent, plain and simple.
If both players were fully healthy, I'd take Walker over TO today. Not TO in his prime, but easily over TO today. TO has better moves with the ball in his hands, but Walker has better speed and RADICALLY better hands. Walker's also a much better leaper. I don't know how TO has demonstrated his recovery rate better, since both players recovered from an injury FAR ahead of the estimated timetable. I don't know how Walker has next to nothing to back up his talk, given the consistent stud production while healthy.
I'm probably getting roped here, but I'll take the bait.Let's focus on Walker's BEST season ever. We're going waaaaay back. Before the his ACL tear of '05. Before his second knee surgery of '07. The season was 2004 and Walker averaged 86.4 yards/game and scored 12 TD's.Now...let's focus on TO. Since 2000...covering 8 seasons...TO has averaged less than 86.4 yards/game (Walker's BEST season) only 3 times (85.7 in '04, 73.5 in '03 and 73.8 in '06). Regarding Walker's career best 12 TD's...TO has topped this number 6 out of the past 8 seasons. Again, this is TO match against Walker's BEST season ever.Let's focus on Walker's SECOND BEST season ever of 67.8 yards/game in '06. For comparative purposes, TO has never dropped below 70.0 yards/game this century. To compare Walker with TO is embarrassing at best. To imply Walker is a "stud" may be even worse.

Yeah, but I'll take Johnnie Walker over a TO.

In his best season, Walker only had 138 targets. TO almost always has a healthy target advantage, which explains a lot of his healthy statistical advantage. Walker's production per opportunity is as high as Owens'.I'd take Santonio Holmes over Brandon Marshall, too. Are you going to tell me that Marshall had 350 more yards than Holmes, too, while completely ignoring the fact that it took him 84 more targets to get them (or the fact that Marshall had one fewer TD despite that 84-target advantage)? When I say I would take one WR over another, I'm doing so under the impression that I can't simply uproot a WR's stat line and transport it to another team entirely intact. I base that sort of statement off of how the player plays, what he does well, what he does poorly, what he brings to the table. At this point in their careers, Javon Walker simply brings more to the table than Terrell Owens. I also happen to believe that Owens is about to hit the wall in a big way.

T-minus 3 hours until TB brings in Walker for a physical.

But seriously, looks like the Vikings will have someone else to look at now other than Berrian.

He's gone. The guy on ESPN just said "ESPN's Michael Smith reported within the last hour that the Broncos have released Javon Walker." With Jerry Porter gone, Al Davis wouldn't pass up a chance to stick it to Shanahan. :excited:

Agreed! I would take a cut Walker over a always underperforming Porter any day.

I doubt the Vikings will look at Walker. His style seems too similar to Sidney Rice. Berrian is probably the better fit there.

I can definitely see Javon going to the Raiders

I think the Vikings like picking Berrian off from the Bears as well.

The Broncos released wide receiver Javon Walker today, an NFL source confirmed.

Walker had spent two bittersweet seasons with the Broncos. Acquired from the Green Bay Packers in 2006 in exchange for a second-round draft pick, Walker overcame reconstructive knee surgery to lead the team with 69 receptions, 1,084 yards and eight receiving touchdowns in 2006. He started strong in 2007, recording 17 receptions for 220 yards through the Broncos' first two games, both victories, however Walker's right knee began troubling him to the point he needed a second surgical procedure on the knee at mid-season.

He returned late, but struggled to regain form and finished with 26 catches for 287 yards. The day after the season ended, Walker publicly stated he didn't think he fit into the Broncos' offense and stated a desire to play elsewhere.

The Broncos attempted to trade Walker in recent days, but released him in lieu of paying him a $5.4 million option bonus due March 4
.

Walker should be singed to nothing more than an incentive laden 1 year deal. The guys knees are shot.

One would think that would be the case. I know he's younger and plays on the other side of the ball, but Tommy Kelly is coming off of a major knee injury and is less proven and he just got $18 mil guaranteed.

It is speculated that Dallas is his #1 choice at this present time due to the fact that Ray Sherman (Dallas WR Coach) was his WR coach in Green Bay, he is from Texas, and is friends with TO. Wouldnt it be ironic if Dallas signed another reciever who before coming to Dallas had issues with his two previous teams that led to him being traded and released.

I believe Dallas are the odds on favorites to sign Walker. No link, just a prediction.

Help me here......it sounds kind of moronic to say Walker is either going to get cut or traded. Who would want to trade for him if they know the guy is just going to be cut??

He has been released.Speculation is now about who will sign him.
Ya, I realize that now but even before today......if you know the dude is going to be cut, who's going to offer a trade for him. Just seems kind of weak, kind of like in fantasy football if you know you're going to release a guy on your team and for kicks you throw out maybe a couple trades, maybe some 2 for 1 trades with this player linked to the trade just to see if there's a sucker out there.Anyway, who's going to sign him? It first depends on how healthy he is. If he is deemed healthy, you'll have a handful of teams who are semi aggressive with him. I don't think anybody's going to go hog wild in throwing cash at this guy.I'd be surprised if the Cowboys weren't in the mix but I also wouldn't be surprised if the Cowboys were outbid. I'm not sure the Cowboys need this guy. We're looking for something a little more solid to avoid injury situations, not take on a guy who is the defintion of what we're trying to avoid.

I would guess two reasons:1. If you want him and are afraid that another team will come into play.2. With the way contracts are getting out of control, the current contract may be better value.

Right, but I think the contract he was currently under was like for 5 million.

Breaking News: Javon Walker To Be a Raider

By JOSINA ANDERSON, FOX 31 Sports Reporter

NFL sources have confirmed to me at this hour that former Denver Bronco Javon Walker will sign a deal to join the AFC west rival Oakland Raiders barring any unforeseen glitches.

Terms of the deal were not immediately available for this report.

WALKER, OAKLAND RAIDER?

Maybe the Raiders are trying to compile an All-Star team of guys with torn ACLs. How else can their interest in receiver Javon Walker be explained?

Okay, Walker has had some strong performances, even after tearing a fairly important knee ligament (then again, they all are) in 2005. But lingering problems with the knee limited him significantly last year, and prompted the Broncos to cut him loose after they could find no trade partners.

According to Adam Schefter of NFL Network, Walker is visiting with the team and could sign a multi-year deal as soon as Wednesday.

Given the knee problems, Walker shouldn't get a huge chunk of guaranteed money. Instead, there should be a reasonable amount of compensation for 2008 and a large option or roster bonus in 2009, which would be picked up if he can perform well this season.

Two different reports. Who knows if anything comes from it.

Al Davis and his teflon jumpsuit are both certifiable. :lmao:
These posts are great now that we know where Walker is going!!!
