Courtney Taylor Projections? (1 Viewer)

With Taylor cemented into the WR2 role in Seattle what do you think he'll do? Is he a worthy WR3 or a bench warmer? I've been searching this site and others and there just isn't a whole lot of discussion about him.

What say you???

Hard to say, because he will go back to the bench when Engram and Branch are healthy. But until then I'd say he's probably good for 4 catches and 60 yds per game, with a .3 chance of a TD.

August 14th, Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren says he expects his starting flanker to lead the team in catches. With Bobby Engram and Deion Branch both sidelined until at least Seattle's Week 4 bye, Courtney Taylor is expected to play flanker. Nate Burleson will play split end and run more downfield routes, but may struggle for consistent targets. It doesn't help that Burleson is an inconsistent player to begin with. im not sure if this quote was given prior to Burleson lining up in the slot in preseason game 3. anyhow take it for what its worth, that taylor will be in the flanker position.

I'm not so optimistic 'cause Kent has outplayed him through the preseason and seems to have the QBs eye more than any active WR on the roster. Maybe Kent's lack of route running ability will show more against real starters, but he has the most potential of anybody in Seattle. Seems like they're 2a & 2b.

I'm not sure what to do with Courtney Taylor. I have a waiver wire request in for Chris Taylor RB Houston and will have to drop either Courtney Taylor or Bryant Johnson.

Me either. I have Courtney in a lot of leagues as a free agent pickup and I just don't know enough yet to feel comfortable starting him. Someone has to catch the ball in Seattle, right? I'm torn on this one.

I'd have to drop Branch to pick him up. My starters are in good shape so I'll just hold off until they force Branch onto the field. Which may be sooner than we think considering he might not go on the PUP.

I asked this in the Deion Branch thread, but maybe its as (or more) appropriately asked in this thread. When/if Engram comes back he's the starting flanker. When Branch comes back, will he go to flanker and Burleson remain at split end? I just can't picture Burleson moving to flanker. If Taylor can show well these first few weeks, I think he has a shot at holding onto the flanker job until Engram gets back. If Engram is out until week 6-7 or longer, Taylor could be a nice option for teams looking bye week/injury/suspension fill in depth. When is the last time the Seattle flanker position hasn't put up nice fantasy numbers, especially in PPR.

Just a guess, but probably the last year before Holmgren came to town. The Z in his scheme is practically force fed the ball. And Pre-Mike they had Joey Galloway back in his youth. He was their #1 and likely was primarily lining up as SE.Hell, Derrick Mayes had a near 900 yard/10 TD year for Holmgren once upon a time. I don't recall specifically if it was from the Z spot or not, but I'd be inclined to think it probably was. And if it wasn't, the same year Sean friggin' Dawkins had 900+yards and 7 TDs. Engram has had two nice stretches as the primary Z when called upon in his time in SEA. Darrell Jackson put up very good numbers in his time there when healthy, and his propensity for drops is almost legendary. I guess what I'm getting at here is that there's never exactly been a world-beater lining up at flanker during Holmgren's time as HC in Seattle(Jackson was probably his best when 100%), but they still put up consistently good totals. I see no reason to believe that if Taylor is the starting Z wideout for 6 or so games that he won't too, especially in PPR leagues.

I think Courtney will be a surprise this year...

Hes a big WR (6'1 200+) who can break tackles and gain yards after the catch...

He was known for his "route running" and "hands" coming out of college...its now his 2nd year

If those arent the characteristics of a good wr i dont know what are...

His only problem is speed...

But if he can get separation (already a good route runner) he should post decent numbers.

I see him succeeding and the next big thing in the NFL.

He reminds me of Boldin or Cotchery.

Watch..

Don't know how you can claim this. maybe he has Charlie Frye's eye, but that's about it.I'd put Taylor at 5-6 catches with 60-70 yards a game until both Engram and Branch come back

I'm really liking Taylor this year. If Branch or Engram has a set back (always possible or maybe if Taylor performs well enough at flanker, they'll ease Branch back as they should).

I seem to recall Branch was already dealing with calf/foot injuries in the game he tore his ACL. No sure why he'd rush back again.

Just curious or maybe I missed this but why is this guy not even ranked in the latest Rankings list on the WR. Both Engram & Branch are ahead of him & even crappy tight ends as well.. I would think the # 2 WR on a passing team would at least be on there somewhere.. maybe I missed it..

I'm starting him over Evans and Bryant Johnson. Just have a good feeling about him...purely my gut

I like 5 catches for 70 yds and 1 td.
