i rest my case. A bunch of he said-she said, allegedly, supposedly, dropped charges. C'mon!Plus half these things happened in college. Everyone gets into trouble at college. Also, that really doesn't characterize Marshall's rap sheet at all. There are a LOT of dropped charges and he said/she said stuff, yes... but there's a lot of other stuff to it, too. In college he was arrested for assault on a law enforcement officer, refusal to obey, disorderly conduct, and resisting an officer (those "college pranks" alluded to earlier). He got a DUI. He got in a shouting match during a meeting last year with (then receivers coach, now offensive coordinator/playcaller) Jeremy Bates, reportedly asking for his release. Shanahan called him out last season, accusing him of malingering and using a supposed injury as an excuse to not do work. Cutler royally ripped him this offseason and told him in no uncertain terms to grow up. Even if we ignore the dozen incidents involving his supposedly now ex-girlfriend (call it a really, really, really, really long mental lapse), we can't just wave a magic wand and have everything else go away. There is a definite history here. I want as much as everyone for him to succeed, and I think he is honestly going to work his butt off to ensure that he stays on the field... but we can't just ignore his history as if it never happened. How many times have you been charged with a crime, whether dropped or not?Mostly a bunch of dropped charges and he said she siad stuff. not much to it really.

ive already posted in antoher thread that nobody really knows what happened with his girlfriend. you're comparing this to OJ? And honestly, i hate to break it to you, but you have no idea how the legal system works. You are exactly like most ignorant people. You read a few tidbits of news and think you know everything that happened that night when Marshall allegedly slapped his girlfriend. So if the topic would have been "Should I trade Marshall while his value is high because of his off-field history and chance of future suspension?"Would that have been acceptable with everyone?Geez, every Marshall owner on this board is suddenly as character blind as Jerry Jones.Support JohnnyU here. This is stupid. Why not start a poll for every player to get injured? You can not predict what will happen. where is the poll about Tank Johnson or anyone in the drug program?

It's my understanding that charges are being made, whereas in the past it was unclear as to whether they would. Doesn't that make it new news? No, it isn't ironic. It's coincidental. It would have been ironic if you'd came on here and sarcastically posted "I believe Brandon Marshall has no chance of ever getting suspended this season! None!!" and then he got suspended this morning. Or the original post would be ironic at season's end if Marhsall doesn't miss any more time due to suspensions at all."This has been a public service announcement, brought to you by R.I.F, The Children's Television Workshop, and the Letter E. The more you know!" *Der-der-da-deeeeer! Bing!*Even if it isn't, it is ironic this news was reported < 24 hrs after starting this thread.

Sure, that's all he said/she said. Or, more accurately, it's he said/his QB, coach, positions coach, ex-girlfriend, and the police said. Clearly it's all circumstantial, and we should trust Brandon Marshall's word over that of his QB, coach, positions coach, ex-girlfriend, and the police. It's just his word against all of theirs. You wanna throw out the drama with his ex, that's one thing, because that mostly *IS* he said/she said (although the police do have such evidence as a split lip and witnesses of Marshall trapping his girlfriend in the driveway). You wanna call a major meltdown with his positions coach hearsay, then fine. You want to call Jay Cutler absolutely RIPPING him TO THE NATIONAL MEDIA just a his-word-against-mine situation, great. You want to call Shanahan RIPPING him TO THE NATIONAL MEDIA for malingering an argument open to interpretation, then awesome. You want to read that Marshall ASSAULTED A POLICE OFFICER and respond that everyone gets in trouble in college (as a matter of fact, they don't), then be my guest. You want to dismiss any one of these instances in a vacuum and I have no problem with it... but when you're trying to dismiss EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THESE INCIDENTS ALL AT ONCE, my credulity is stretched just a little thin.i rest my case. Seems to me like his coach and QB like him a lot. Maybe they actually KNOW HIM on a personal level unlike every other person on this board and feel he can be turned around. People like to make lists about his screw ups and thats fine. Ill take him on my team. I dont think his defining moment in life is going to be a bad relationship and a drinking and driving charge at the old age of 23. Maybe you do. So be it. Nope! Goodell has already proven as judge jury and executioner that he doesn't have to wait for a charge to be filed or a conviction before he hands out suspensions. Goodell already knew about this possible charge and that is part of what Marshall was already suspended for. Marshall will not face another suspension because of this news. http://www.kffl.com/player/13696/nflOne would have to assume that since these are new charges that it is possible he could be suspended again.
Even if the league new about the incident already, they would not have been able to take it into account when handing down a suspension.
And you have 0 friends that have DUI's? I know the one that ran from the cops did a stupid thing but he's a very successful business owner but he has had his problems with drinking, that being said he hasn't drank since and it's been almost 3 years, and the other guy I barley know through a family member. I know another guy who got pulled over blew a .009, lost his lisence for 6 months and had to spend 10 days in jail, do you think he could afford a lawyer at all? Same county, you can't tell me money doesn't have anything to do with it.you're comparing this to OJ? And honestly, i hate to break it to you, but you have no idea how the legal system works. You are exactly like most ignorant people. You read a few tidbits of news and think you know everything that happened that night when Marshall allegedly slapped his girlfriend. You assume he is guilty because of the preconceptions that you have. You would never even be allowed on a jury because you would fail to see the facts in front of you. Sorry you dont like the American Judicial system.Oh yeah, just like how OJ is innocentI hate to break it to you but the only thing court proves is; 1 - who has a better lawyer (who has more money) 2 - can you prove it beyond a resonable doubt. Just because you can't prove something without reasonable doubt doesn't mean it didn't happen, I don't think too many people doubt he hit his girlfriend.ive already posted in antoher thread that nobody really knows what happened with his girlfriend. His GF and her 2 sisters accusations dont mean anything unless they are substantiated and/or Marshall is proven guilty in a court of law. Everything else is simply alleged rumors and allegations.Yeah, everyone gets in trouble and does stupid things in college but only the scum of th earth slap their girlfriend around and it doesn't matter if you're 15 years old, 21, or 50.i rest my case.
Move to France, Sailor.
I have no idea what you are talking about (Marshall ownerSo if the topic would have been "Should I trade Marshall while his value is high because of his off-field history and chance of future suspension?"Would that have been acceptable with everyone?Geez, every Marshall owner on this board is suddenly as character blind as Jerry Jones.
Don't kid yourself about Shannahan's and Cutler's humanitarian efforts to reform young Mr. Marshall. They wouldn't be doing this for someone who was 5'9" 165 who ran a 4.9 and had no hands. I agree with you but let's not get out of hand here. Unfortunately for Brandon until he stays out of the news for, I don't know, a couple of months, this is going to be his life. He's going to be tested and tempted and pressured and will not be given any slack in the process (unless of course you have him on your FF team). The most unfortunate thing, though, as far as Marshall is concerned is that Goodell has set a precedent and probably won't have a choice but to suspend him again if this Georgia thing is serious. I don't want the kid to get suspended if he doesn't deserve it, but I think the chances are pretty good that he does. I would plan accordingly.ETA: If you have him (redraft) this might be the best time to unload him. Just sayin...Seems to me like his coach and QB like him a lot. So be it. Time will tell.Sure, that's all he said/she said. Or, more accurately, it's he said/his QB, coach, positions coach, ex-girlfriend, and the police said. Yeah.......let me chew on this a bit.....every credible source says the NFL already knew about this possible outcome when Goodell reduced his suspension to 1 game and that worst case scenario is he would be suspended if and when he was convicted, which would be after this season. Hmmm........tough call, but I think instead of trading him I'll just ride him and JayC to the Super Bowl instead. Quite simply they passed on him in the draft so they root for his suspension.I don't know what you jokers have against Brandon Marshall. He and ADP are only the most exciting offensive players to arrive on the scene since Moss and Tomlinson. He was in a crappy relationship and he got pulled over after having a few too many. You know what -- that describes about 75% of the American male population. What's left over are the teetotalers, the celibate, and the irredeemably lame. You must be cut from the same cloth as the nimrods that cheered when Brady got injured b/c you didn't draft him. In my book, anything that makes the game less eye-popping should not be celebrated.
So now 75% of Americans hit their girlfriends/wives? The charges were filed a week before you started your thread. That's the ironic part. It's ironic that I started this thread (signed on as JU at home and Hoss at work) and less than 24 hours there's more news about Marshall's off the field problems.
I'm glad you realized your mistake.Ok, that makes it all better and I'm sorry for making this thread. What is the point of this thread? Reportedly, he has moved in with Cutler, sought counseling and is being mentored by Rod Smith.
Yes, 75% of American men hit, spank or towel snap their girlfriends/wives.Obviously that's not what I'm saying. Justifying domestic violence is a fool's errand, but the hittee in this instance strikes me as Left Eye Lopez kinda crazy. By most accounts, Roger Goodell is a pretty sound judge of character, and his decision to lessen Marshall's suspension was probably based more on empathy than the Galahads in this thread are willing to allow. So now 75% of Americans hit their girlfriends/wives? JohnnyU nailed this one. Nice call.
There wasn't any news about Marshall until today, and most thought that was a bogus website. It was a freakish coincidence. The charges were filed a week before you started your thread. NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said the league was aware of the allegations in the Atlanta incident at the time it suspended Marshall, prior to the start of this season. He added that Marshall could face more disciplinary action from the league, depending on the outcome of the case.
Please. Unless you have evidence that Ricky Williams is a thug like Pac-Man, Henry, or Marshall, can you try to refrain from lumping him in with those thugs.Do we need polls/threads for Ricky Williams, Pac-Man, Chris Henry, etc. too?
Of all of the incidents, I'm most willing to throw everything stemming from his relationship out the window. It's pretty clear that that was a toxic relationship to both parties, and by all accounts, she was giving every bit as good as she got (if not better).I'm just saying that, even if you give Marshall the benefit of the doubt (as I'm perfectly willing to do) and throw all of that out the window entirely, you're still looking at DUI, assaulting an officer, accusations of malingering, a violent confrontation with a positions coach, and a call to grow up made by the starting QB through the national media. If that doesn't raise even the slightest red flag for you, then I don't know what will.Bermuda_Chub said:Yes, 75% of American men hit, spank or towel snap their girlfriends/wives.Obviously that's not what I'm saying. I'm guessing that this all-star list of NFL players had the propensity to be suspended in common, not necessarily only because of the thug factor. If this is the case, Ricky qualifies.Please. Interesting. I'm not surprised this is their "official" stance. However, unless Marshall gets into further trouble, I believe he'll be looked upon favorably by Goodell. Maybe, possibly, another light suspension because of this. Not sure. Anyway, you can rest assured the NFL used due diligence in investigating Marshall's past transgressions. Judging by the light sentence handed down, Goodell has obviously determined Marshall is not your basic career criminal type. Marshall deserves the oppurtunity to prove him right.FightingWombat said:ESPN Story
