Divisional Round Game Thread - SD Chargers at Pittsburgh Steelers (1 Viewer)

OK that thing where they alternate showing FWP running then an "up close and personal" pic of him was really gay and stupid. dear networks, PLEASE stop feeling like you have to make a "show" of everything and just show us the freaking game.

edit: TD game over.

Both of these title games look like they SHOULD be great matchups. Hopefully no runaways. Good luck to all, time to find a movie or something

15 rushing yards for the Chargers? Oof. Tomlinson might not be as studly as he used to be, but they really missed him today. Hard to win in Pittsburgh without your best skill position player (not counting QB).

rewinding it ... you clearly see Waddell pull Nate left arm well before the ball got there.
Like every DB does when they are defending you mean?
Yes every DB pulls down one arm of every wide receiver before the ball gets there as he's catching it...
Look fella, this game is winning me money. In addition, after watching all four games this weekend I am calling the Steelers to win it all. They look like the best team to me. It just looked like a bit of a weak call that made a huge difference in the game. Keep in mind I have still only seen it once.
You only see 1 angle and he grabs it down, not like the running down the sidelines hand checking kind of way but the I'm diving for the ball but too early.Plus you don't see the other side of the play :popcorn:Still a lot of time.....
All good man. I assume you are a Steelers fan so great day for you. If I had to pick one of the teams left to root for it would be the Steelers, but the Eagles would be a very close second because I think McNabb is a helluva QB and deserves a ring. So Steelers vs. Eagles would be the best SB matchup for me. Warner a great story too so I would not mind that either. I have a great deal of respect for the Ravens but I just dread having to watch them in the Super Bowl again.

I love the little guy but he is not some every carry back. He's a change of pace, special teams guy, and very good at both. But people talking about Sproules to be the main guy of your offense are way off, I think.

I live in South Jersey -- HUGE Eagles base. My son is an Eagles fan.. that would be a fun one...

If the oline plays like this, the Steelers will not be beaten.
That is kind of stating the obvious, don't ya think? Next week vs. the Ravens will be a whole different ball game. No way they dominate the trenches like that.
should be a knucklebuster...I have to believe the Ravens' Dee won't be nearly as generic as SD has been.. :own3d:
They haven't been generic. SD just doesn't have a good pass rush. The last Pitt game was a bit of a fluke. I think AJ was planning on getting rid of Merriman to tell you the truth, but probably not anymore.

I want to say one thing. After this loss, there's going to be a lot of criticism of Norv Turner again (we've already seen it here.) And I think it's undeserved. Most teams would have folded at 4-8. And I did not expect the Chargers to win last week. In fact, going into the playoffs I was more afraid of the Colts than any other team.

The Steelers are a better team than SD and they showed that today. But Norv did a fine job coaching this year, with all of the injuries. I think he has the players' trust and deserves to be back.

Sunday Jan 18th... BLOODBATH III :own3d:
Funny, hope you're still on here next week after the Ravens win.BloodbathIII? Not sure if you watched the first two but both came down to the wire, which will happen next week as well. This time don't expect Pitt. to come out on top. Go ahead and keep disrespecting the Ravens.

Ravens D looked a little tired to me yesterday. I don't think they'll be as stout as they were earlier in the season. No bye since week 2 and no off week in the playoffs.BTW, Limas is looking like a bust.

Very disappointed with the effort by the Chargers D coaches. No pressure on Ben all day. Rivera needs to go. Of course having your D on the field all day isn't good either. Way to many holes on this Charger team on both sides of the ball. I figured if the Chargers scored 17 they would have had a chance to win. Whoops. Nice D there Boltz.

Today was more about Johnnys and Joes than X's and O's. Players, not scheme won the game today.SD brought what they had but the Pitt OL/DL just took the front 7's to the woodshed.

I predicted 30-7. It wasn't that bad, but it was close. Pittsburgh pulled away and the Chargers made mistakes. The better team won.

Chargers have to feel good about Rivers. He really stepped up this year. Improve that D and they'll have something to compete with the best of the best.

 The first 2 games were , knock down drag out, face in the dirt, bloody knuckle brawls. Injuries everywhere.I expect nothing less in the third game... I was stating the third game should be just as intense

I have no dog in this fight, but save for an injury to Roeth, Pittsburgh will be the first team to get their SB ring for the other hand.

How ridiculous this statement is. Do you realize what a difference Rivera has made this year? If other NFL teams are smart, Rivera WILL go. To a head coaching job somewhere.

Rivera is a good coach. They just don't have a pass rush. That's not Rivera's fault. He was mixing in some good blitz packages earlier. There is only so much he can do without the personnel. The D was on the field all day because they couldn't get third down stops (no pass rush). The offense played well enough to win.

I don't know about that. That first Eagles match-up was ugly.
I agree with you there. It was the one time all year I did not feel like the Steelers would win the game (with the sole other exception of the 4th quarter at Tennessee.) The games against Indy and the Giants I thought we should have won. But not against the Eagles. We were shoved around in that game.

He made a difference over Cotrell sure but that's like saying he's the tallest midget. Having a scheme is one thing but you have to play something that fits the players. The Chargers have had no pash rush this year at all and neither guy changed anything up.

correction "very generic"and you are exactly right.. they have NO pass rush.. all the more reason that you need to more aggressively mix up your defensive calls.. and you don't need ten fingers to count how few times SD has sent more than 4 after the QB.. not a good idea when the 4 you DO rush every play aren't getting close..
