Good lineup this year. Please leave our fair town better then you found it.

On a side note, it's ironic/funny that everyone's making a big deal out of Dylan being the headliner around here. He came to the Erwin Center three years ago on the Love and Theft tour and didn't sell half the seats. Great show though.

Dylan is Dylan in name only these days, unfortunately. I have seen him maybe 1/2 dozen times over the past 5 years or so. One excellent show...the rest were complete garbage though. And yes, I will try and leave your fair town a bit better.

I haven't missed a single ACL Festival yet. And I'm not going to start this year.

Highlights/Must Sees for me this year are:

Dylan

Wilco

Reverend Horton Heat

Kelly Willis

Damine Rice

Robert Earl Keen

Lucinda Williams

Regina Spektor

Amy Winehouse

The dust bowls that were a problem two years ago should be no problem this year. I rode by Zilker park yesterday, and I've never seen greener and thicker grass on those fields than I have this year.

:hifive: Love the lineup this year. I'll most likely be there.

I'm not a big fan of huge festival crowds, but maybe I'll try it this year.

Mainly hoping to see Dallas stops for the acts I'm most interested in though (particularly Jack White and Andrew Bird).

Saw Bird at The Majestic when he was here a couple months ago. Really awesome show, but I agree it's not quite the same when performed at a festival.

I've had a crush on him for years but have yet to make a show. I missed that one due to SXSW.

Don't think there's enough in my wheelhouse to get me down there, but I'd love to see the Black Lips. Maybe they'll do Dallas the week before or after.

Can I be your plus 1 Bogart? I lived driving distance from Austin all my life and have never been. I kinda suck at life, though.

How do you get tickets? Im assuming you guys are on that e-list or whatever?

Love that list...agree on not missing Alabama Shakes and Delta Spirit.

Isn't this the same weekend as Texas/OU in Dallas. I35 is going to be a complete freaking nightmare that weekend. Oof!

On the note of seeing Dallas bands I have seen The O's a couple of times and recommend checking them out around the area if you can. Saw them open for the Old 97s at The Grenada back in December and really enjoyed them.

I bought 4 when they went on sale yesterday morning. I was intending to flip two of them for profit, but if an FBG needs tickets I'll sell two of them for face value.

Bird and especially Delta Spirit should have been bolded. I have been running through the entire Delta Spirit discography the last month, non-stop.

I only got one pass GB. But any and all FBGs that are going to be there, we need to organize a cornhole.

Keys? I'm just worried they may be big enough for the AAC now. Maybe Verizon would be ok.I'm also hoping to see The War on Drugs again. They would be perfect for Dada. Speaking of... going to Plants and Animals this Sunday? I'm planning to, but that could change after a day of drinking at the pool.

I couldn't believe that at first sight but after checking it is. That is insane. I guess the traffic will be going in opposite directions (Aus-Dal for the game, Dal-Aus for the concert) but still. It'd take a lot of money to get me on that road. Isn't ACL usually in September or am I dreaming?

It's always sometime in Sept or Oct. Exact dates vary and are based on avoiding football conflicts. The Big 12 conference reshuffling messed it up this year.

Nope. Lips. If I want to hear the Black Keys, I'll turn on "Gossip Girl." :o

Don't unload all of them just yet

Actually, this is the only reason I'm on the fence. Was supposed to go visit a friend in Austin for ACL, but he's a UT alum and always makes the trip to the Red River Shootout Rivalry....thus he'll be skipping ACL this year.

My bad, I just overlooked them.

Have a few friends facing this dilemma. To me, 3 days of great music easily trumps 3 hours of football in an uncomfortable old stadium. I'm not really a big college football fan though.Let me know if you decide to come down, Pete. :banned:

So apparently I am heading down for this with 2 other people. None of us have ever been. What's the scoop on getting around? We've got to find a place to stay (I'm sure all the good places are already booked though). Where should I be looking and what's the damage going to be?

thanks

You don't need to rent a car but I like having one. If you can rent a house near Zilker Park you can walk to ACL and take cabs. That's the shark move. I have never drove and taken the shuttles to ACL but it sounds like a nightmare.

Slightly off topic but I'm going to Snoop @ Stubbs this Thursday. You 512 FBGs should do the same if you want to see a great show and party with women who aren't afraid of happiness. Can't Wait :bartscott:

you sound like a laid back guy who isn't afraid of happiness.

Oof.. House near Zilker sounded like a great idea, but the going rate on CL seems to be at least ~$800 a night. That's pretty steep unless you have a decent sized group splitting it. FBG ACL party house cornhole 2012?

I might know someone for under $2k for the week...let me ask if its available

May be interested. 2.5k a weekend for some of those tiny run down homes nearby is highway robbery. But staying closeby seems the best way to go, especially considering how much I drink. :banned:

Yeah but walking rocks and easy to close deals. after parties. The houses in Zilker may be old but that's an expensive neighborhood. You'd be lucky to live there.
