Apple Pie Moonshine (1 Viewer)

There is a lot of recipes on the Google for making this using pure grain alcohol.

Has any tried, and come up with a good formula?

I haven't made this but I have had it a few times while camping. They called it "Mom's apple pie" and it tasted great. It has a tendency to sneak up on you if you're not careful.

I did it at Christmas time the super-easy way. Bought a can of apple pie filling, dumped it into a large mason jar along with a couple of cinnamon sticks. Filled the jar with grain alcohol and put it in the cupboard for a week. After a week, just spooned out the apples and any top residue, poured the rest through a strainer into another same-sized mason jar and added distilled water to fill the jar (taking up the space the apples were using.) I didn't see a recipe for this, just seemed like it would work so I tried it.

People were doing shots of it left and right - it didn't last long. next time, I'd make 4 times as much.

ETA : This comes out sweet, obviously. If you don't want it to taste like alcoholic apple pie, use a different recipe. I had a couple liters of apple cider and some seltzer as well, so people could make their own sparkling cider and that went over big as well.

Yep. It's not real moonshine obviously, but the flavor is fantastic and it's still packing quite a kick.

That recipe is sound.
