Sports betting now legal in New Jersey (1 Viewer)

Well since all the casinos are closing, I guess this means Vinny from the block will have a "lemonade" stand. Not sure how this changes anything. :oldunsure:

I hope, hope, hope the pro leagues don't try to blockade this again. If it actually goes down 10/26 without a hitch, no doubt in my mind trying to go up there 11/2 to get NFL down all day and try it out.

So awesome.

Obviously we can go there and get action down any time throughout the week, and not just Sundays? The worst part about going to the track is being with people at the track.

I want to see what kind of football setup they have for Sundays up there, never been to Monmouth Park. If it's got big screens with games on everywhere like Vegas and booths open to take late game/halftime action, could be an absolute blast. Going to take a long time to be anything like Vegas (probably not every actually matching it), but just having the book Sunday NFL experience would be pretty awesome without having to fly cross country.

I've thought about flying to Vegas just to get action down for one day. I have no problem driving three hours to do the same thing.

I honestly think professional sports gambling should be allowed in all states. College sports, that opens you up for a lot of possible issues.

as soon as the states see how much money New Jersey rakes into this they will all try to get in on the action too. Only thing is i think it will be real hard to legalize in most states. I read a bunch about it when the casinos started opening up in a bunch of new states, and the legal junk thrown into regulating gambling is enough to keep thousands of lawyers employed.

If things go smoothly, maybe we could have a cornhole on that first Wildcard Saturday. Two games that day, and I can advance-bet the two games for the following day. But Bender has to get me drunk and do something shameful in public.

I'm guessing that wont be a problem.

#### it, make us get licenses to have accounts just like they do with gun owners. I wouldn't mind.

Not sure why the Govt doesn't run it like they do the lottery. Works well in Canada
Parlay cards only, or can you wager on individual games?
Parlays (with props) only. It satisfies the average gamblers/fan appetite. Definitely not for gamblers like yourself.

Parlay cards would be better for me. I'd lose far less money. :)

Why on earth do they care? They only want one billion people betting on the NFL instead of 1,000,020,000?

Just what is the "Irreparable injury" that's being done to the leagues here?

The leagues will have to prove immediate and irreparable harm will come from Monmouth Park taking bets on their games Sunday in order to be granted the injunction.

A similar legal situation occurred in 1976, when the NFL unsuccessfully attempted to get a restraining order to prevent Delaware from offering a lottery based on league games. U.S. District Judge Walter K. Stapleton denied the league's request, stating that he found "no threat of immediate irreparable injury to the NFL."

Indeed, who's getting greased to keep this largely illegal?

I'd have to assume Vegas tourism lobbying as the first guess off the top of my head.
