GET YR MONEY OUT OF OUR POLITICS (1 Viewer)

WFSB, the local news channel in CT, just gave Dannel Malloy a de facto thirty-second advertisement by claiming that unemployment was down and giving him a free thirty seconds (exactly and counted) to speak about how he was creating jobs for CT.

Is 90% of your average newsroom Democratic? Yup. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZQkxJ4WcXjA

The more money in politics, the better, I say. Your mileage may vary.

In 2010 it was 9.5% now it's 6.6% that doesn't sound like a claim as much as a fact.
True.

I'm pretty sure I just got push polled today so I'm pretty sensitive about the CT political race right now. But they sure did give him a free campaign ad. The family (who is split politically) agreed.

Interesting. You support the current system of political incentives and feel they would produce better results if more money were dangled in front of politicians?

Please clarify, maybe I'm just misunderstanding you.

All sitting governors get that stuff. I see my Republican governor on TV talking to news guys touting some new jobs or whatever on a regular basis. It's part of why incumbency is so powerful.

Heh. I mean in terms of advertising and speech.

I do not support Congressional insider trading, monetary incentives and perks that come along with running for office, speaking engagement fees, etc. I do support a revolving-door lobbying surtax, limits on patronage, limits of family influence in politics, and stronger stricter conflict of interest laws. I think these things are much more pernicious than dollars as speech.

It was a broader, incendiary statement.
