Brandon Marshall the linebacker, any value going forward? (1 Viewer)

I don't see why not. Gotta get your best players on the field and Marshall was super productive.

Also no guarantees Trevathan is 100%

Assuming Trevathan is back, and Von, Irving and Marshall are healthy, how would you rank the value of each? Does Trevathan assume last year's role (leading tackler last year)? Does Von's role change with Trevathan back?

I see Marshall taking over the MLB position and being a three down player. On passing downs DEN likes to move Miller up and put him on the edge of the LoS. Irving isn't getting it done and Marshall is a guy the coaches love.

Irving is the worst of that group by far and Denver has tried to replace him before, if any of them do get moved I would think it would be Irving. I'm not sure who would take over the middle but I would think Von, Marshall and Trevathan our the best three and no way Von will ever come off the field under normal circumstances.

I asked Jene this question six weeks ago. This is his response. Plus, contrary to an above poster IMO there is no evidence Irving isn't getting it done at MLB. 29 tackles and a sack in the first three games is pretty good and all DEN IDP stats were suppressed in Week 5 due to extremely low tackle opps.

Jene, what is your best guess on what will happen when Trevathan returns for the Broncos? Any chance Marshall replaces Irving at MLB? Assuming Marshall continues his strong play into the regular season, of course.

On the one hand I could see a parallel with Woodyard finally getting his shot and keeping it from a few years ago due to injury (DJ Williams?). On the other maybe play-calling is a special talent and they'll need to retain Irving in that role. Or maybe even a Trevathan/Marshall platoon to slowly work Trevathan back?

Total speculation I know but tough to roster Marshall for likely just a 4-week stint and also factors into how hard / when to go after Trevathan in trades / waiver wire.
It's a good thought but I don't see Marshall taking over inside. I suppose it's possible, but they have been looking for options (Chaney-Barrow-Irving) through the offseason and Marshall didn't get much of a look. I wouldn't be heavily on Trevathan returning by Week 5, but it shouldn't be long after that even if he doesn't meet the early rehab goal. If you can get him at LB3 prices or less and have 6-8 weeks to float him on the roster, I'd add him.
Perfect. Great point about the preseason competition for MLB. Thanks.

Not going to quote all of that. I believe my eyes. Marshall led the team in tackles today. Irving had 4.

Marshall has outscored Irving in 4 of the 5 games played so far and is more active on the field. Irving always seems to look pedestrian.

Last week Trevathan actually lined up a few times in the middle. Not sure if it was a planned thing or they are trying to keep Marshall out there. This week he led in tackles because Trevathan left the field on a cart in the first quarter with a knee injury. If it is serious, Marshall and Irving will both be back to putting up relavent points again.

Is Marshall going to be in the Nickel with Nelson, now that Travathan is O again?

If so, I'm guessing he goes back to being a top 12-15 guy real quick.

...and it sounds like it will be Marshall in a 3 down role, with Nelson subbing in for Irvin in the nickel package.

Where do you guys find the snap count information?
A few options:

1- I subscribe to PFF premium stats. Best $ I've spent this season (sorry FBG).

2- There is a "snaps" thread on the forum that has a link or two to other places, which usually are updated later today.

3- Sometimes you can google "week 7 eagles snap count" (replacing the team for your team), and a beat writer will have posted something on it.

I'm gonna assume Marshall has found himself a home. He will be one of your starting LBs for the foreseeable future. Del Rio trusts him. Trevathan is starting to seem injury prone. I can see it being Marshall, Miller, and maybe Nelson in 2015? Not sure where Barrow might fit in. Probably Barrow instead of Nelson?

Trev will supposedly be back this year so I wouldn't count him out for 2015.

I'm not saying count him out totally. But man, he's been taking a lot of injuries. I'm just saying to be cautious on how you view him in 2015. Broken tibia and now a fracture above the knee? I don't believe they have much invested in him so if he can't stay healthy and get on the field, they have depth to move on from him. Not saying they will, but it's not a weak position for them.

He broke up a attempted 2 point conversion pass from Alex Smith. No pass defended scored.
Anything that happens on two point conversion doesn't count for stats, whether it be offensively or defensively. Only thing that can be scored for fantasy purposes is whether 2 Pt is good or not, if that makes sense. Basically, it's not a timed down and it's either successful or unsuccessful. If he had picked it off it would simply go down as unsuccessful and no stats would be given to anybody.

The question is who gets the subpackage snaps between him and Trevathan going forward since pass coverage is Trevathan's strength.
