Tony G Owners - Are You Dropping Him? (1 Viewer)

Turf toe is a summamamabch injury to even the youngest of studs, let alone a grizzled vet like Tony. I don't want to do it, but with just six games left and roster spots at a minimum, I'm seriously considering punting this week. Tony is a rock on my roster, but this injury combined with the dismal Falcons offense has me thinking he'll be unstartable the next 3 weeks at least. And given that this is his sunset stretch, I think he'll likely try to play on it too soon and it won't heal properly in time for him to even be serviceable weeks 14-16. I HATE situations like this.

What's the consensus thinking from other Tony G owner FBGs???

He has turf toe? I hadn't heard.

If true, yes. Its over. Turf toe has derailed many a good athlete and the Falcons really have no incentive (nor does Gonzo) to try to overcome this and play through, etc. The hands and the positioning are Gonzo's thing. That isn't compromised. But if he can't get into the spot to get into that position, what can he do?

And, one more thing. He is an exceptional blocker and prides himself on it so knowing him, he will want to play and help in any way he can and he will probably tell the coaches "Just leave me in to block and draw attention."

Not officially, but he has a "toe injury" that he said is concerning enough that he fears it will swell and stiffen overnight. That screams turf toe to me, but I suppose it could be a less severe injury to a different toe or joint. Hopefully more will be revealed today.

What The is everyone going to use? This year its been rough and I could grab either fleener or miller but both are very risky plays but I s not like they could do much worse than Gonzalez has been doing.

I'll wait for the actual news to come out first. If it looks bad before waivers run, I'll drop him for a safer/lower upside guy. if it sounds like he can play through it, I'll let him be. Outside of the top 6-7 TEs, its really a wash week to week with who is going to produce.

to me, i agree with rotoworld's comments today, the fact the HC didnt provide an update is not good news.... but i don't know if you can really even dump gonzo before the bad news comes out... i mean what could you reasonable get for him? maybe tim wright? the rest of the low end TE1 is just garbage most weeks.

Until we hear "officially" that he has "turf toe" you should not be making any rash decisions based purely on wild speculation. The bum toe, the constant double teams, the lack of an outside threat to draw coverage all are valid reasons to bench Tony G for better options. Dropping him? Go ahead, be my guest. You lead the charge.

No Thursday practice for Tony G. So what are Gonzo people doing?

My only backup is Fleener, and I did not want to start him, but it seems I am compelled to start Fleener because of the Thursday game.

Still considering punting him this week in favor of a Fleener or Bostic or Carlson or some other schlub off the wire. Don't know that I can wait weeks for Tony's mystery toe issue to feel better. His production this year doesn't seem to warrant burning a roster spot during the stretch run.

I drafted Gonzo, but have been fortunate to land Jordan Reed on the ww. I haven't played Gonzo in a few weeks, but have been reluctant to drop him. My hesitation is due to how thin the TE position is this year.

However, my team is really thin at wr, and the wire has some decent choices....I am giving serious thought to dropping Gonzo for someone like Boykin, Dobson or Bowe.

I have jordan Cameron and I'm thinking about picking up Tim wright for back up. I just can't see myself playing gonzo anymore this season.

I was thinking of trading for Gonz before our trade deadline tonight. Owner isn't asking much since he has Gates as well. Although, Gonz hasn't seemed to do anything since before his bye. Seems like missing Julio and Roddy not being 100% is hurting him.
