We can't let this die, so I'll take a shot at running it this year. Good luck!

The Rules
Pick one stock PRICED AT $1+ that you think can appreciate the most (EXCLUDING DIVIDENDS) in 2015.

To make this easy, we'll take entries through Friday, January 9th. Baseline will be close of market on the 9th, regardless of when the pick was submitted.

Foreign stocks okay if traded on US exchange (i.e.ADRs)
ETFs okay IF NOT LEVERAGED
Shorts okay
No duplicates; FCFS
Please also consider sharing some thoughts/info on the stock

Optional Bonus Question - Guess where the S&P will finish the year. (I am not worrying about duplicates for this).

Thx for carrying on the tradition. Will wait some to make pick, but as promised, will help keep this bumped for the next week. Will add a link in the 2014 contest and stock threads.

AAPL

I think with Apple bringing out a larger iPad is a good thing for business. Depending on the iPad's capability though will depend how well it does. If the thing just runs iOS, not good. If the thing is more similar to the Surface Pro 3 in capability, plus running a full OS, great for Apple.

When earnings come out with the Christmas iPhone 6 numbers and with the demand for the iPhone 6, I think the stock will rise on those. I don't think the stock could hit $200 this year with those products coming out unless something drastic really happens but $160 or so I think is possible.

S&P = 1,950

Probably a shot in the dark and probably not even best in the field, but give me DDD.

The field should continue to grow despite recent setbacks in stock price. Could be too early but I'll probably buy a few shares and hold long term.

So yeah, I'll be holding a set of DDD.

Oh and S&P - 2020, slightly down for the year

Cool - thanks for running this. I'll go with CRR. Carbo Ceramics - they make sand for the fracking industry and have just gotten walloped lately - so I'm catching a very sharp falling knife here. Low debt, so they should survive and do ok.

S&P 1957.

I'll go with:

SWKS (Skyworks Solutions)

S&P: 2015

I've been in SWKS since about $27 and it just keeps going up (knock on wood). I think this was suggested in a previous year's stock contest so thank you for whoever posted it originally.

Put me down for Wayfair (W: NYSE). Online retailer of home goods, including home furnishings. Went public in October and got tanked by the growing anti-e-tailer "non-profit" climate. Appears to be a better company than their IPO reflects in a sector that has been known to produce some pretty healthy pops.

S&P - 2275

That was me. You're welcome. Good luck!

NXP Semiconductors(NXPI) - Should benefit from Internet of Things and mobile payments trends. Their NFC chip is used in Apple Pay.

S&P- 2142

Up 6% today. Are we sure we can't start from the posting date? ;)

Glad this is starting on the 9th, 'cause I'm certainly aiming for a low starting price!

Yeouch.

Crap I gotta think of something. I realize that short position isn't the way to first place but it's generally what I'm good at picking.

Okay I'll go long - and the plus side is if it's a loser it's bad for Putin.
