Online Poker (1 Viewer)

How do I get money into a poker site? My credit card says I'm in the USA so I can't deposit but I know people do. Any ideas?

Forget online poker. That's illegal. However you can lose all you want at Fanduel where pure luck decides if you win or lose.

Can you deposit money in any of the sportsbooks? Some also offer access to card rooms. 5 Dimes for example.

Why is fantasy sports gambling allowed but not poker?
The old POS's name is Sheldon Adelson and he has more money that all of us combined and he is willing to spend whatever it takes to keep poker offline and people gambling in the casinos. I hope he get ebola and ####s out his guts in a painful slow death.

Yeah, but he's losing his stranglehold. As pointed out, New Jersey legalized online poker and I believe Nevada and Delaware did the same. So if you live there, you can load up your Poker Stars account with money and go nuts. Hell, you can even use Neteller (remember that blessing of a company?) to fund your accounts there.

It won't be long before other states eyeball what's happening and legalize online poker for their citizens. Most states are choking on debt and bad balance sheets and you can only tax the people that live there so much. Marijuana and gambling are great sources of revenue and it won't be long before more states recognize this.

California is going to be legalizing online poker soon. Bet on it.

I haven't tried Bovada or 5dimes yet but I will tonight. I just want to play small sit n gos to kill time and have fun.

Freaking liberal MD is so anti-gambling (online only mind you), that when I was staying in Rehobeth Beach, the ISP had some kind of Maryland connection and the sites told me to gfm.

Stupid state.

Freaking liberal? You have to know this isn't a liberal/conservative thing. People on both sides of every aisle across the country are acting like fools on this issue.

He calls online poker players "chumps", but the old lady sitting in from of a slot machine is a smart gambler. F me.

It was a gawd awful post with total lack of knowledge. The on-line crusade was heavily republican jesus freak lovers.

Here is the POS that led the charge of UIGEA: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Frist

Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA)[edit]Just before Congress adjourned for the 2006 elections, in what politicos call a "midnight drop", Frist inserted the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) clauses into the larger, unrelated Security and Accountability for Every Port (SAFE) Act. The SAFE Act itself was a late "must pass" bill designed to safeguard ports from terrorist infiltration.[40] In the Zogby International Poll, 87% believe online gambling is a personal choice which should not be banned. A Wall Street Journal Poll showed 85% oppose government prohibition of online gambling.[41] The UIGEA became the basis for the April 15, 2011, US Department of Justice government crackdown and domain name seizure of three of the worlds top online poker sites, dubbed "black Friday" in the poker community.[42][43] The DOJ Office of Legal Counsel subsequently issued an opinion in September 2011, stating that the UIGEA applies only to betting on sporting events and contests and not to other types of online gambling.[44][45][46][47]

Yet another glowing example of how we were WAY worse under Bush than we are under Obama.

THEY HATE US FOR OUR FREEDOM!!!! Yeah, right. What freedom, George?

It's coming back. I think the US just wanted to find a way to tax it. Thank god all the jesus freaks are dying off and getting voted out.

I thought I recalled it being led by the right. Regardless, my current beef however is with my state which is most decidedly not right leaning.

I can load up at party poker. Maybe you should try living in a spot where it is legal?
What a well thought out and practical post. Uprooting yourself, quitting your job, selling your home amd moving just to play some casual online poker is a very useful suggestion!

Maybe that **** should create an online poker site and rake in the money at both ends.

Sportsbetting is still going strong.

Cant believe poker isnt. Silly.

I think you are right on that part and they need to die faster. Any of the reasons that they used for the infringement on our right to participate in on-line poker also applies to on-line gambling. The jesus angle of families being torn apart, the money laundering angle, the BS about college students losing their college tuition, etc. Everyone of these BS reasons can be applied to Fanduel for instance.

Why I hate every single one of them is that they all talk out of their asses and all they have to do is fool the stupid masses into voting them in by dangling a carrot or 2.

Way better under Clinton maybe than Bush, that I will give you. But under Obama? no way...... But I digress.

Whoever took it away, and yes it was a stupid Conservative, needs to be strung up.

Smart politicians would have made it legal, brought it back and taxed it.

Indeed.

So people who dont play online poker just play real live poker with friends or at the casinos that are popping up more frequently these days.

Whoever mentioned fanduel is right on also. People losing money left and right over there with the poor payouts. Why is one ok and one is not? Does fanduel present itself as a game of skill while online poker is looked at as a game of chance??? Cause it's totally the opposite as far as the skill:luck ratio.

I don't think this is true, at least in DE. You have to play on one of the state's sites, which suck ###.

And in Jersey, you play on mostly real sites, but only versus other Jersey players. Dumb distinction and makes for a thin crowd. I play at party and the wait at times to find a spot is bad.

Nope. Must be some rule since I played wsop and party and both sites were jersey people only. I understand their geolocation verification they do on the NJ people playing, but fail to understand why we can't play against a Euro player etc.

That's what I thought. Nice to see you again. Flip my name around... ;)

Those people live where they can play wherever they want. So why would they waste time with a limited poker site? They are allowed to play at PokerStars, Party Poker and the easiest place to print your own money, Pacific Poker.

The NFL and off track betting industries got their lobbyists to insert exceptions for them. They have money and power and got what they wanted - pretty simple.
And if Sheldon Adelson is bankrolling your re-election campaign, you damn well better do what he wants, not what the people want.

The main point being..why can't I, as a verified player in NJ using their geolocation software verifying me, play against any other player on their site and am instead limited to playing people from NJ only.
