Kiko Alonso for the 1.06 ? (1 Viewer)

This is a big play 12 team IDP league were LB score equal value as RB/WR. Kiko was the #24 overall player last year. Has 3 years left on his contract (3yr/$2M). I figure this to be a no brainer since rookie slots for 1.06 are 4yr/$3M.

Im losing a huge chunk of my LB Core (P. Willis, S. Tulloch). Will have Burfict, Ellerbe, and possibly Worrilow and/or Vincent Rey returning. Thoughts?

LB'ers are easily replaceable. Not to mention Alonso may be moved to WLB. No brainer- the 1.06>>>>>Alonso.

I dont think a move to WLB would essentially decrease his value. Now if it was the strong side that would be different. But Dont forget that Lavonte David played WLB and was the top 5 if not the top LB (Depending on the league) last year.

"The Bills are considering moving Kiko Alonso to weakside linebacker. Alonso played every snap at middle linebacker during his rookie season, but is capable of playing all three linebacker spots. He could be asked to switch positions depending on what the Bills do in free agency and the draft. "Because of his frame, it would probably help him not being able to take on those offensive linemen as frequently," GM Doug Whaley said. "He would excel there, just like he did at middle linebacker.""

Understand. But in general...MLB>WLB>SLB and 1.06>Alonso by a large margin.
Schwartz has backgrounds in both 3-4 and 4-3 schemes dating back to his early coaching days with the Ravens in the 1990s and the Bills have the personeel to fit either scheme. Regardless of scheme, Schwartz is known for his aggressive, attacking style of defense and he will surely bring that to Buffalo. That said, I'd guess that Buffalo transitions back to an aggressive, attacking style 4-3 scheme which still incorporates a lot of Wide 9 philosophies. I dont see Kikos production falling. By a large margin I dont think so. In this league Kiko was the #25 overall player.. Thats offense and defense combined. I dont know of any rookie that you could play with confidence that would be remotely close to that production. Mind you I also had the 1.07 so I could afford to fill a need and save $1 M in salary due to the 3M 1.06 draft slot. Kiko holds a $2 M salary for the next 3 years.

Looks like if Spikes does go there, its a one year deal.

If the Bills draft an ILB he is going to have a chance sooner than later.
