12 had no shot at being any good. 11 was "perfect" (for what it is) and so well revived and watched the studio demanded a sequal get made. Once the cast knew that they were in charge and cared more about a summer in Europe then making a good movie. It was only after 12 got such bad reviews and semi floped that they were able to get the cast to "do it right" for 13.

Remembered reading something about that. He didn't have time to eat on set for like an entire day once or something, so he just started eating during his scenes and they went with it
