tie breaker rules (1 Viewer)

Getting near the end of the regular season. Looking a read on playoff possibilities. In one of my leagues I saw the following in the standings which happens to involve my team, Angry Zygotes.

W L PF

commish 1 5 4 0 0.556 1286.85 1312.10 Lost 1 Angry Zygotes II 5 4 0 0.556 1286.85 1208.35 Won 1

commish is listed above Angry Zygotes - so I look at the tie breaker rules

Standings Tie Breakers:

Total Points Scored in Games

(double headers count twice, bye weeks do not count)

Head-To-Head Competition

(winning percentage against all tied teams)

Points Scored Head-to-Head

(points scored in head to head games against tied teams)

The teams played each other in week 9

Angry Zygotes II 164.05 vs commish 1 111.90

So shouldn't Angry Zygotes be listed ahead of commish in the standings?

As it stands, neither team would make the playoffs based on H2H record. However, the PF would qualify as the 4th seed. How would the tie breaker work when determining playoff seeding for teams that get into the playoffs based on points?

Yes i realize with 2 more weeks there's virtually no chance that these teams will still be tied in H2H record and points at the end of the regular season. However, I'm still curious about both questions.

From the Footballguys Players Championship rules:

At the conclusion of Week 11, four teams in each league will advance to a two-week head-to-head League Playoff in Weeks 12 & 13 and will play for league prizes and one berth to the Championship Round.

These four teams will be:

  • Seed 1 - the team with the best regular season record
  • Seed 2 - the remaining team with the highest point total during the regular season
  • Seed 3 - the remaining team with the best regular season record
  • Seed 4 - the remaining team with the highest point total during the regular season
These teams will be assigned as Seed 1, Seed 2, Seed 3 and Seed 4.

If there is a tie between two or more teams for best win/loss record or total regular season points at the conclusion of the regular season, the following tiebreakers will be used in order from 1 to 4 to determine playoff participants:

  1. Total points during the regular season
  2. Head-to-head win/loss record
  3. Total starting QB points Week 1 through Week 11
  4. Coin toss
