What's up with Da'rick Rogers (1 Viewer)

The colts are going to try to start throwing more with the way the run game is going. Definitely could be opportunity here
If the Colts don't figure out how to protect Luck, he's going to get killed. That OL CANNOT pass block or run block. Also, did you see t-rich whiff on a few blocks in pass protection? You would think a back with his size could hold his own in pass protection, but he looked horrible Sunday night, both running and pass protecting.

There's educated guesses, guesses, and pulling stuff directly out of your behind to make excuses.

You know, a few pages ago, the 'Bills coaching staff doesn't know what they are doing' card was already played. Colts don't look too much smarter than Buffalo to me. Hey, we have the best QB prospect in decades! Let's run the ball 30 times a game with a gimpy vet and a bad blocking O-line!!
What do you do when that same OL can't pass block either?
Well from what I've read, it looks like IND is in dire need of a short/intermediate safety valve (to replace Wayne). Hilton is a vertical beast but that's about it. I thought Fleener would step up but he hasn't. They just need someone who can run a simple dig/slant and help release pressure.

A quicker release can often times mask poor OL play but if there's no one to throw to it's a moot point. Also, I'm not saying Rogers is the answer just a possible solution that I'll gamble on.

i'm in. picked him up off waivers in two deep dynastys.

not that you care, just marking the thread so i can follow along.

One major flaw I've noticed with Luck is that he holds on to the ball too long. Hell, my wife mentioned it while watching a game earlier this year. Yes, the OL is bad, but he's not making it any easier for them.

Agreed. He goes through his progressions better than any young QB in the game, but he has to learn to go through them much quicker especially due to this OL being terrible.

If the Colts are smart, they will use their 2nd, 3rd, and 4th round picks on OL, and get the best FA OL they can buy. The definite weak link on that team.

shipped away Josh Gordon before this season started and with only 1 rookie pick next yr it makes sense in my league to roster some guys (knuckleheads or not) with potential to be of value next yr & beyond... hated his prospects in Buffalo from a fantasy perspective but in Indy with Wayne out and with DHB doing his best DHB impression I think there is definitely room for a knucklehead with talent to make some noise here.
I agree but the first knucklehead should be Brazill. If he doesn't cut the mustard then....... knucklehead Rogers.

What if Incognito and Martin were both acquired by the Colts? Not that they did a great job protecting Tannehill....

For Da'Rick Rodgers The FBG daily players in the news mentioned he could challenge for WR3. So, it's currently on my radar. Apparently talented and has been a dipsh!t. But in the blurb the team said that he's done what they asked and earned a chance or something. That's at least progress in the right direction that could pay off. My thoughts when a knucklehead like that hits it's not a bad idea to sell. So consider your exit strategy when you acquire him.

Apparently he's in early, leaves late, has been a studying the playbook all the time. There isn't much ahead of him he has to beat. He's being given a chance and we will see how it plays out.

I agree and rostered him when Wayne first went down.

My logic is you would think they would exhaust the options that have been in the system longer before they move on to the next option. Until they give Brazill the in game opprotunities that have been going DHB (Drops His Balls), they won't know what he is capable of and therfore cannot cross him off their list.

Additionally Reggie Wayne has taken on a gig as a WR coach.

We won't have to wait long to see if this pickup becomes a gem. He's learning how to play WR from one of the best. This he couldn't get in Buffalo.

Ever wonder why people offer you trades for Rogers on the eve of his debut, but have no interest in picking him off the waiver wire earlier, or in offering you a trade while on the practice squad? Even if he flops, I don't see too many people trading Rogers for a mediocre pick or lower tier player at this point. Not after stashing him at the end of their roster for the entire year, or most of the year.

Perfect situation for him. Maybe he makes a quick splash and gets everyone worked up for a sell high. I do like him a little more longterm than now.

So... I was bummed he was inactive, but after watching the suck that is the WR corps past Hilton... I actually think this could have gone significantly worse for Rogers. I think we witnessed DHB getting a bit of a demotion, Brazill not really showing a whole lot, and Whalen not being able to separate.

They've now got 10 days until their next game. Would be a good time to get the kid more involved. Are guys holding to see how this plays out?

The fact that he was inactive makes it more likely they had to bring him in or lose him to another team. Otherwise, they would cut him again and put him on the PS. That isn't happening again. He's on the team for good or they lose him. That being said, his ceiling is way higher than than everyone not named Hilton.

If he's not active next week, given all the things you mentioned, I'm out.

That's probably fair... and I'm right with you I think.

I'm in until they cut him again, then I'd consider dropping depending on if he got picked up off waivers right away or not by another team. I play in deep dynasties and have held through everything so far though.

This guy has way too much upside to drop in dynasty with Luck at QB. DHB is 100% gone after his 1 year of suckage.

We've got pretty small rosters in the one dynasty league I have him, so that forces my hand more than most. But still, if he can't even get on the field given everything going on right now with the Colts, I will dump without looking back, especially given all his past issues. Not getting on the field now just reinforces my earlier view of him.

He has a truly golden opportunity right in front of him. If he's even decent he moves into a gig.

What type of player is he? Speedster? Possession? Returner?

Come on now. I get that he is an athlete. More of an athlete than most fringe WRs in the league. But there is nothing to suggest that he is some hot commodity that they had to bring up or they were going to lose him. Especially that since practice squads started I haven't heard of this happening.

Honestly, I don't know anything about this kid, aside from what I have read. I hope he does well. But it's not looking good, and we are 280+ posts in to a thread about him that frankly, reads like as lot of excuse-making. Things haven't looked particularly good for this kid since Draft Day, and I don't really see how things are changing to make him worth a dynasty spot. Signed from the practice squad, that's good, I suppose. Better than being on the PS, which he has been, available for every team to sign since the season started by the way.

A big part of this hobby is trying to read the tea leaves, figure out what teams think about players, and so on. It's been pretty easy with this particular player, thus far. The draftniks and fantasy football community dramatically overvalued this kid it seems. If I had to guess, I would say that his red flags were pretty dang red. He's been practicing with the team all year, the Colts are down Wayne and Allen, DHB continues to be DHB, and Brazil doesn't seem to be much of anything. Rogers has 'upside'?? 'Opportunity'? Sounds a lot like a lot of other guys in the league that haven't done anything.

I especially like the people congratulating themselves for rostering him, you sharks. That roster spot could have been taken up by a guy that actually plays on Sunday.

You've never heard of teams bringing up PS players because another team was trying to claim them? It doesn't happen weekly or anything, but it's common.

It happened this year when Green Bay went after Tavarres King, Broncos promoted him to the active roster. link

Though they cut him the next week, and the Panthers claimed him.

That's the great thing about this. If you own him and he fails, you don't have to worry about cutting him and having him go off big elsewhere. He'll never get a better chance than he has right now. He is definitely getting in before the end of the season. The y need to know whether they have to address the WR position early in the 2014 draft.

As long as they draw an R on his right shoe and L on his left maybe he will know which direction to go when route running.

He's only had but a brief time in the league yet some recent article sent my mind drifting to "remember RB Ben Gay?"

There's something "off" here and people are wrong in evaluating him. He's a "phenom" with some attribute missing that we're unaware of.
