Biden says Joe the Plumber not a "real" plumber.... (1 Viewer)

It was a nice idea to bring up a plumber, put a face to it....

But McCain is crazy if he thinks middle America is going to identify with a plumber making $250,000

Not to mention, he way overused the concept. Mention him once or twice, but he came back to him like 20 times....

McCain- " And I will work on nuclear power plants...Joe the Plumber, what's up...you can fix the toilets there"

Dear Mr. Fouts,Please point to the spot in the article where Joe Biden actually questions whether Wurzelbacher is a real plumber.
That was the title of the blog...I think it's the idea that it is hard to believe a plumber is making over $250,000The whole premise of McCain bringing him up is the idea that he will pay more taxes ( make more than $250,000) which seems hard to swallow....
especially if he doesn't have a plumbing liscense....to get a liscenced plummer costs a heck of a lot more than an unliscensed one. At the end of the day though, who really cares? The voters don't.

What was amazing was that McCain only identified him as Joe Wurzelbacher once. He turned an actual person into some type of cartoon character, like Palin's Joe Sixpack. By the end of the debate, "Joe the Plumber" seemed about as real as Woody Woodpecker.

:goodposting: Reminds me of the Andy Samburg Mark Wahlberg impression. Say hello to ya motha for me.

This is the only quote I saw and he's not saying Joe isn't a real plumber but actually referring to people who make an average income as the the "real Joe the Plumbers".
“We think we should give that to the real Joe the plumbers, who make $65,000, $70,000, $80,000 bucks a year,” Biden said on CBS’s “Early Show.”
:goodposting:The thread title (and blog title) is misleading at best.

I so could have run this McCain campaign a bajillion times better than the bobos that have.

There are great counterarguments for lots of the stuff that's been thrown out."The Republicans were handed a budget surplus..."

"True, but it was balanced on the backs of the military and the intelligence community. Further, they were also handed a recession."

"Bush started a war that none of us wanted..." (or however the assertion is worded)

"The vote in the senate was entitled 'A joint resolution to authorize the use of United States Armed Forces against Iraq.' The vote was 77 for 23 in favor for. Those voting in favor of such action included names like Chris Dodd, Hillary Clinton, and Joe Biden. If you want to say that the war was because of bad intelligence, I'd be glad to talk about why our intelligence network was crippled..."

And on and on...

(I'd rather not debate viewpoints on those topics. I'm just saying it would have been much easier to throw out something resembling a thought out rebuttal.)

I don't think this debate is being very clear on the specifics.

Isn't Joe saying that his business will gross $250k+ a year? I guess I'm assuming that it's not just Joe as a sole proprietor that's going to be the only guy working for his company. Is his company going to employ anyone?
Apparently Joe "Biden" does not understand the notion of owning a company. Does an employed Plumber make $250K a year? Prob not. Can a hard working Plumber work his way up to owning a Plumbing company and make over $250K a year? Of course! It just show more of Biden making one of his dumb 7/11 comments again than anything else. Joe "Plumber" was saying that he was hoping to be able to get 'more trucks on the road' but was afraid the taxing plan of Obama will make it hard for him to do that.
Can someone please explain the outrage regarding this last part to me? Wouldn't getting more trucks on the road, as well as hiring more people, be an operating expense? Wouldn't that be netted out his business' taxable income, and therefore make Obama's increase on business income taxes fairly irrelevant to this decision?

But Andy, forget the stupid policy positions for a minute. Doesn't the fact that McCain couldn't rebut these things and that his campaign, filled with all the best people he knows, has done such a brutal job make you think that maybe he shouldn't be President?? I don't see how people can't see that. He can't counter much of anything on the issues and his campaign team has done a horrible job. Why do you WANT him to become President? How in the world is that good for America?

Waaaaaay too factual for the FFA.Take him away.

I dunno. I guess I'm assuming just because a campaign can't present a unified message doesn't mean the guy at the head can't be a Presidential-type decision maker.I'm more interested in the idea than how it's packaged.

Reminds me of Kerry and Gore.....I couldn't believe people didn't see it then... All they had to do was run a decent campaign, either one of em.

I kept saying it... Tell us What YOU willl do... Not all this other BS.

It's real simple. They're are some people out there who are not you that make more than you. In the U.S. Obamerica you will get to become them. We are all gonna be rich! Except for the rich - they don't need any more money.

I liked Bill Bennett's comment on CNN immediately after the debate: "I haven't heard so much political talk about plumbers since the Nixon administration!"

:)

During a news conference in front of his home, Wurzelbacher said he is “bothered” that he received more attention than the Iraq war in last night’s debate.
I think they need to make the topics of the debates clearer next time. I see this mistake a lot. People don't know that last night's debate was about domestic issues.

As someone that didn't understand how Bush won, the reasons are crystal clear now.
