Javon Walker found unconscious off LV strip (1 Viewer)

What a freakin' clown:

At Tryst (Wynn) on Saturday: Oakland Raiders wide receiver Javon Walker, spraying the crowd with some of the 15 bottles of Dom Perignon Rose champagne he ordered.
LinkAnyway, I have no idea if this was related to anything he'd done in the past or whether he was just a lone guy on a dark road who got rolled for his watch, but either way he's acting like a fool.
WTF is wrong with partying a bit? I'm assuming he was in a private section of a club, order a bunch of champagne, and was spraying it around in his private section. I don't think he was going up to random people and dumping champagne on them, do you?

Money makes good people better and bad people worse...I think this board gets way too caught up in condemning people that make a lot of money. If you want to make more money, work more hours, or try and educate yourself so the workforce will yield you more money. The work force is really a ladder, the more valuable you are the more they pay you. Professional athletes are very valuable to owners of the teams, hence that is why they make so much.

I'll stop the rant now.

could just be that he got robbed..
It could happen to anyone. It happened to me last year while walking the strip from Caesars to MGM in a drunken stupor at 3 am and I'm not the inviting target Javon probably was. Speaking for myself here if I was single multi-millionaire athlete I'd be doing some partying in Vegas every now and than.

Walking the strip is completely different than walking off koval. Koval is the backstreet that locals and taxi cabs use to avoid tourist traffic on the strip. Its runs behind MGM, Planet Hollywood, Paris, Bally's, Flamingo, imperial Palace and Venetian. If Javon was walking from Hard Rock back to the strip...thats a pretty good trek. Vegas blocks are not your average size. Huge dark streets. Especially that area.

15 bottles of Dom? Yeah, he can party, and I can call him a clown for the way he's partying.

NFL Player Victim Of Robbery

Oakland Raiders Player In Fair Condition

POSTED: 4:38 pm PDT June 16, 2008

UPDATED: 8:41 pm PDT June 16, 2008

LAS VEGAS -- NFL wide receiver Javon Walker was the victim of an apparent early morning robbery, according to Metro police.

Walker was found unconscious at about 7:19 a.m. Monday near the intersection of Koval Lane and Winnick Avenue, officers said.

The Oakland Raiders player was taken to Sunrise Medical Center’s Trauma unit, where he was listed in fair condition late Monday afternoon, hospital officials said.

Police said Walker had significant injuries.

According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal columnist Norm Clarke, Walker was seen Saturday night at Tryst at the Wynn spraying the crowd with some of the 15 bottles of Dom Perignon Rose champagne he ordered.

Clarke also said Walker was at Body English at Hard Rock Hotel and Casino until 6:30 a.m. Monday and that his first round of champagne cost him $15,000.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.

It's a long trek, but it's not considered a particularly dangerous road.

As a Raider fan, I'm truly p.o. This guy simply has to be more mature than this, what a poor decision. Partying like a damn fool then walking the backstreets in Vegas, probably with 'bling' draped all over him.......

Spraying Dom or 'Cris' in the air is so tired....It's not like this guy is 21 or 22 yrs old......I was optimistic upon his signing amongst all the doubters, but this is not the start I envisioned for this guy, especially hearing that he really hasn't been in the best of shape thus far in the offseason. Now this.....it certainly will not enhance his conditioning.

Not to get this thread off subject but I know the difference between the strip and area's around the strip and anything can happen to anyone anywhere- I certainly hope you are not contending a person is safe on the strip and it's Javons fault he happened to veer off a little. I've been in some terrible areas of Vegas but the only place I ever got robbed was on the strip. You think the strip is some safety zone? In that one walk I was offered cocaine, X, and several whores before getting robbed. Safer than being off the strip? Probably but don't confuse that with being safe.

I'm playing devil's advecote in here...but when is a person with a lot of money under 30 not supposed to have fun? Are people supposed to just act like they have a blue collar job when in reality they don't. These guys make millions of dollars, what do you expect from them?

To everyone,

If you aren't a mod around here, please don't threaten other posters with a vacation.

Last time I got bottle service at Tryst, we got 4 bottles of alcohol. Dom isn't that much more expensive there than any other bottle. I was with 3 other guys and the girls we met while there. This is pretty standard for people getting bottle service at any Vegas club.I'm certain that he had a much bigger group and makes a ton more money than me. I'm also certain that gossip magazines/sites estimate when listing the number of bottles of alcohol.

Its absurd that people get critisized for this. Its their money, let them have a good time if they want.

We still don't have a good feel for the extent of his injuries, but I think it's safe to say that it's quite possible this could affect his availability this season. Didn't Romonowski end someone's career by breaking his orbital socket?

My problem with this is: why would you ever put your self in this situation? Seriously, if you've got as much money as he does you need to have a bodyguard present at all times when out clubbing. You also need to have someone transport you from point A to point B. Common sense.

Since his injuries are non-football related if it keeps him from playing does anyone know if the Raiders can get out of the contract? Would they be able to ask him to repay his bonus or has he even been paid his bonus yet?

Various readers have forwarded information to us about the potential consequences of a fractured orbital bone, which is fancy doctor talk for “eye socket.”
 Not to be a geek, but read your anatomy book a little closer. The eyes socket consists of much more than just the orbital bone.

Head bone connected to the neck bone......

Dem bones dem bones.......

Me thinks dem fancy doctors were just trying to be a little more specific than saying head bone.

I hear you...anything can happen anywhere. Sorry you were robbed. I know the strip can be as dangerous if not more than a quiet dark sidewalk away from the "action". Vegas is my second home since a child, I know all the streets, local eateries and hotel maps and im from SoCal. Considering all the targets any crook would be salivating allday everyday. NBA allstar weekend is a prime example of the Vegas Strip being a hotbed for criminal activity. Vegas in general before all the developments is a ghetto-ish area. Plenty of hoods looking for ways to make their hustle in and out of the casino. My point was more along the lines of a very looooong dark walk with less witnesses and to give some readers a perspective of the local area. I would rather be around crowds of people and flashing lights to keep my eyes busy.

Just talked to my boy, a bartender at Body English. He was working last night.

His story:

Javon and Floyd Mayweather both had tables, and got into a bidding war, buying champagne. According to him Javon bought over 30 bottles of Dom, and Floyd won, buying around 50 bottles of Cristal. When Floyd won, he then made it rain, throwing stacks of money off the balcony (The VIP tables are on a mezzanine overlooking the dance floor. Javon was on one side, and Floyd on the other).

The rumor making the rounds among the staff there is that someone in Mayweather's crew jacked up Walker.

Amidst an unknown and serious situation, there is some fantasy talk here. Potentially bump Zach Miller, Ronald Curry and Drew Carter. In that order.

Now that is downright sad...Floyd makes about $20-$50 million a fight yes/no? That guy has more money than Walker by a longshot...the whole stoyry is just wrong. Does Goodell get involved here? What if Javon is suspended for a few games? Fantasy angle: Ronald Curry is becoming value and a later round flyer on Drew Carter is starting to look pretty good, yes/no? Would you add a few more targets onto DMAC too?Gotta be thinking about ourselves in here too.

Why would Javon be suspended? Is getting beat up a violation?

Why would Javon be suspended?
for being a poozie on the field. signed disgruntled Bronco fan. Good riddance Javon. Take you and your baggage to Oakland where baggage like your's belongs.disclaimer: I specified on the field in my above statement for a reason. I wish no physical violence to anyone and hope for a quick recovery for Javon. I also hope the cops find the thugs that robbed and beat up Javon and lock them up for a long time. If there is a connection to Mayweather, I hope he (and his men) get their due justice as well.

HIJACK :goodposting: j/kI don't think anything changes. Raiders O is an unknown still. Curry is recovering from something. Walker's cracked orbital is only that. His knee...?

I used to be a competitive tournament softball player -- a pitcher -- and when I was just about Javon's age I had a ball hit back at me that skipped up off the rubber and into my face before I could get my glove up in time. I ended up with a shattered cheekbone and broken lower portion of the orbit (there are actually 7 bones making up the orbit, or eye socket). After some plastic surgery I was once again my incredibly handsome self, but the whole process wasn't much fun. And I was through playing softball until the next season.

Without knowing the extent of Walker's damage it's not real wise to speculate whether or how much time he may miss. If it's just a small break of part of the orbit, nearly 3 months to the start of the season ought to be enough time to allow him to heal up and play. But if he's had a major whooping there could be a big mess to fix, and he could also have eye damage, and then all bets are off.

Regardless of your opinion of Javon Walker, his lifestyle, or his attitude, no one deserves this. It's not a pleasant thing to have happen. I really hope for the best for him.

I don't know. Did Brandon Marshall catch a suspension after losing a battle with a McDonald's bag?

Wow. That is not good news. Hopefully Javon is able to make a full recovery from this without having any lasting health issues.

I for one could care less about any of the details of the night. Who cares how much he spent? As long as it's all legal, I am not concerned with it. Until more solid details come out about the what happened or why, Walker is the victim here.

A drunk walking alone is a target in any town. The bigger the town the more dangerous it is. Partying is one thing, being stupid is another. I will say this, at least he wasn't driving.

My "contention" is purely your imagination. My only point is that that's an odd place to be walking, especially as a visitor/partier rather than someone who works nearby.

Still that sounds a lot like "she was asking for it by wearing a skirt". I don't really like Javon and he does seem like a dbag, but he's a victim here. Doing something stupid doesn't mean you deserve to get beat up and robbed.

This had nothing to do with Floyd. Trust me when i say this. Ive been right this whole time right? Ask Javon's boys what happend, they know it all. I'lll put it like this...... If Javon's boy didnt leave him, this would have never happend.

one of my team mates fractured his eye socket at the beginning of our AF season(late september/early october) he is only now able to start contact sports again and still has to go in for bi-weekly checkups

granted walker will have the best doctors and (i would assume) a better ability to heal than my, no so fit, friend. BUT this could keep him out anywhere from 2-6 months depending on the extent of the fracturing

Yeah it depends on whether there are broken bones and how much damage there was. Johnnie Lee Higgins should run some now with the #1's. He was a 3rd round pick last year and Michael Bush a 4th, so he has big play ability. Drew Carter should too. Both have speed, but in Carolina Carter was a great practice player that dropped too many balls in games.
