Add/Drop and Waiver Wire wonderment thread: Do you still own Domingo Santana? (1 Viewer)

Man its hard to trade a guy away when you go full Richard Simmons for him.

(traded Abreu for Darvish)

I prefer Polanco to Springer. What's the consensus?
I like Polanco better. Just has that IT factor about him. Looks like a future superstar. Springer looks like a future All-Star and is a bit of a K machine. Polanco reminds me of Cutch & Springer reminds me of Bruce

I'm kinda curious where the steals are with Springer too. I'm not complaining with what he's doing, but I thought that part of his game would translate easily. Houston obviously will send guys (see: Altuve).

WIll he just play OF?

In redraft, think it is worth trying to catch lightning in a bottle for Betts by dropping any of the following?

Aramis

ZObrist

PRado

Kendrys Morales

12-team H2H, points league

i grabbed Cingrani for $2 in a keeper. I usually sit on three prospects on a 29 man roster, I added Cingrani and dropped Franco. Can't ignore the stuff if he can figure out how to throw an effective second pitch. I wonder if they put him in the bullpen when he comes back and then make him a starter down the road.

The whole thing with him not being up front with his injuries can't be good though.

I've been trying to add Betts for 3 days now. Is he just not in the ESPN player universe yet?

I don't remember that happening with ESPN very often.

I'd be fine dropping any of the last 3. I don't see the point in Zobrist or Prado anymore.

It would be bat#### crazy to drop Aramis in any league.

I guess I keep thinking that he will get injured again at some point, but you are right, on a per-game basis, he is still among the top 3B.

couldn't find him this morning either
His rise has been incredible. When the 2013 season began, he was in Low A ball and wasn't even a top 50 prospect in the Red Sox organization. 15 months later he's in the majors.

So maybe that's ESPN's excuse. But with all the recent hype he should definitely be in their database by now.

Dropped andrelton for him. What the hell? Maybe he tears it up!!

He finally became available this morning. Spent $31 of my last $60 on him.

Is Betts a must add in a keeper league?

I've been holding the #2 waiver priority in the hopes of landing Kristopher L. Bryant later this year(just bring him up already)

But my team lacks speed

Let him go through, I'll trade him to you.

I think so.

Especially if you need speed. He's got great plate discipline, and steals the hell out of some bases.

I don't think he's amazing or can't miss or anything, but he seems like he might be the best prospect called up this year before September (disregarding pitchers, which I typically do).

I was holding Kris Bryant until last week, but Theo's comments scared me off. Plus, why do they need Bryant now when Luis Valbuena is pretty much Pablo Sandoval.

What time do the Mariners need to call up Walker for him to pitch tonight ? Can they do it right before the game or does MLB have a deadline ? Weak week for me I'd take a chance starting him fo rhis projected two starts but want to be sure he gets the call.

Is there a reliable site that updates the prospect rankings for guys that have yet to be called up? My google resulted in a bunch of click-bait type slideshows, which was annoying.

I go to the minor league website about once per month in May, June, July, and August and try to uncover gems for my minor league taxi. Usually filter by sb and xbh then look for good periphs. High walks, low k, double digit in both then as new guys pop up do some google searching for scouting reports. Usually just focus on AA. The AAA guys are already known, usually, and so many successful A guys washa way once going up a level.

Not sure what sorta leagues you guys are in, but if it's deep enough and you have a free hour on a Saturday morning, not a bad way to spend it.

Domingo Santana being called up by the Astros. Might be worth a look in deep leagues if you need some pop. Not on Yahoo yet though, so I don't know that I'd burn a waiver claim on him.

.304/.383/.502 with 13 home runs and 52 RBI over 84 games this season with Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Souza's been killing it.
I've gotta make a decision on him by the trade deadline if I want to add one of the newly drafted guys. I'm at odds. Could have quad A written all over him, but man he's raking. Would love it if the Nats dealt him to a rebuilder, so the path to playing time becomes obvious.

Same question for Taveras.

1 pt for every TB, BB, R,RBI / 2 pts for SB / -1 for K, CS

I'm all ####ed up cuz I missed on springer, then opted for taveras instead of polanco the first time around.

OF is Choo, Gordon, Brantley, with Holliday in util now.

I need to clear room for T. Walker off the DL (didn't start him Monday because I needed to make the move by midnight, so I have a few days).

A. Wood

Kluber

Quintana

Fister

Roark

Perkins or Soria (but I would have to punt SV and put Wood or Roark in an RP slot).

Also could drop a bat ... Morse and A. Craig would be my only candidates.

Or should I hold all of them and drop Walker?

Why would you even type Kluber's name as a drop candidate here?

Is starting Greinke @ Coors a bad idea tomorrow?
Depends on the format, your place in pitching cats, and if there's an IP limit where you are in relation to the pace as well as who else is on your team.

When it coems to great arms in Coors in my roto leagues if I am ahead of the pace and I have a strong stable then I bench them. I'd rather miss that start than have to bench someone I don't want to in September outside of Coors.

I think Quintana or Roark are droppable if you want to keep Walker.

Indifferent on these two. If you can find a better arm on waivers I'd say dump both and activate Walker. Every league is different, but I'd think you could stream better than rolling either of them out every 5 days.

I picked up Vance Worley. He's off to a nice start, maybe the change of scenery has helped. We'll see how he does today, he has a 2-start week next week. (@CIN @StL.)

Career BABIP - 320, current 242

Career LOB - 74%, current 93%

GB:FB is at an all time worst, by a lot, but his HR:FB is an all time best. Too early to tell if this is skills or luck, but it doesn't smell right.

He still isn't missing bats, but his walk rate right now is great

@ Cincy and @ STL looks like the right time for all of this to correct.

I won't fight someone throwing him out there against Arizona, I wouldn't but I get it, but he's not getting anywhere near my lineup next week. Prove me wrong next week and then we can chat, but by then it may be too late. An argument could be made that he's doing a much better job locating (less walks, weaker contact, o-swing is up), which is a nice hot streak to ride, just have to know when to pull the plug before the balloon pops.

yeah, it's obviously a risk but looking a some home game stats and CIN and STL haven't done that well so far this year.

Home stats:rank

CIN - Runs: 28th

AVG: 24th

STL - Runs; 20th

AVG: 16th

I'm 3rd in pitching in my league so I doubt I'll start him next week but he's worth a bench spot for now, imo.

There are about 20 or so pitchers I'd start at Coors, I think he's probably one of them. Rockies playing like #### right now, no Cargo, Cuddyer or Arenado.
Greinke had a 2.63 ERA and 1.11 WHIP last year, but in 2 starts at Coors Field last year, he put on 25 guys (10 walks) and gave up 9 ER in 10.1 innings. Without those Coors starts, he would have had a 2.31 ERA and a 1.04 WHIP. Part of the reason I drafted him in so many leagues this year is because he was even better than the stats suggested last year if you just bench him in Coors.

Obviously he's been ridiculous this season, but in his only Coors start of 2014 he still put on 12 guys and gave up 3 ER in 7 IP. You can live with that, but I wouldn't feel safe starting him just in case a 2.2 IP, 8 ER bludgeoning is coming. I really try to avoid Coors at all costs unless the pitcher is Kershaw, but that's just me.

Dammit, I was all set to bench him, then start him, and now bench him again. F it. I'm leaving him in and having a cocktail

Just kidding!

I need a solution at SS. Im currently starting Mookie Betts (eligible in Yahoo).

Guys like Jed Lowrie, Andrelton Simmons, and Brandon Crawford are on the wire. There is another owner with Jean Segura on his bench right now. Im also thinking of offering Jay Bruce for him.

Any thoughts? Anything else I should consider, like prospects likely to be called up?
