Changes for next year (1 Viewer)

Instead of these threads where it's just constant arguing, I was thinking it might be more pro-active to have one thread, with no flaming, where people can bring up changes, for next year. Be it the software, the rules, whatever.

So, I propose, a sincere review of the seeding process. Since the seeding process combines most points and best record, I think one small tweak should be made. The top 2 scoring teams, point wise, cannot face each other week 1. It will rarely work out this way, but for the user that gets stuck in this bad situation 8% of the time (the 3 seed), playing a consolation game week 13 that means absolutely nothing, is kind of a slap in the face.

There maybe a better way to do this, but the top 2 scoring teams should never face each in the first week of the league playoffs. Right now, that is possible, and it will happen to some people again this year.

Second, I propose that fumbles LOST should be counted as minus 2 points. Not all fumbles, only the ones where the other team recovers. If the defense scores points for recovering the fumble, the player that lost the fumble should be penalized.

Now, I am not going to argue with anyone about the rules, flawed as I believe they are, I entered this contest aware of all of this. I am not asking that anything be changed this year.

All I am asking is a flame free discussion where players can discuss how we think this contest could be improved.

Thanks.

First off I don't believe fumbles lost should be negative points. Fumbles, and recoveries, are relatively random events and penalizing their occurrence isn't rewarding FF skill.

IF they are penalized, don't see how they could be -2 when interceptions are -1.

I could see seeding either way. Your proposed change makes sense. But this assumes that highest point scorers are the teams that should get rewarded. The current structure already balances record and point scoring - so by "helping" 2nd highest point scorer, you are then implicitly penalizing 2nd best record team. Since 2 spots are decided by record (with points as a tie-breaker), not sure why we need to elevate the 2nd best point scorer over 2nd best record.

It makes no sense. They are valuing head to head first and foremost. The 1 seed who is 9-2 could be 8th in total Pts. That is fantasy football. That team could also demolish the 4 seed who scored way more Pts then him in the regular season. There is no 'tweaking' possible. Unless they are removing head to head as the #1 priority and seeding using only total Pts during regular season. Which completely negates playing H2H weekly matches. It's not happening. Nor should it. Luck is a factor in fantasy football. You unfortunately need to accept that OR play in leagues that aren't a H2H format and solely reward teams on total Pts at end of season. That's probably better suited for you.
