It seemed like the Royals almost had something a couple years when they brought in Hillman, signed Meche and had Greinke, Gordon and Butler on the rise. But then they remembered they are the Royals.

I agree.
Apologies are in order for everyone who berated management for trading Myers for Shields. Young and up and coming teams need a horse like Shields at the top of the rotation. Myers is starting to smell a little bit like Ben Grieve.

Davis hasn't been charged with a run in almost two months. 14.94 K/9, OPP BA .121.
Holland (27 GF, 21/22 SV, 1.30 ERA) is as solid as they come. What a combo.

Have no idea where Davis came from with this season, but they iron out the 7th inning bridge guy in the pen, that's devastating.

There was an article at FanGraphs about him earlier this year. His average velocity for his four seamer was 92 when he was a starter with Tampa, and it's close to 96 this year. Yesterday he was hitting 98-100 while striking out the side.
