Jamie Collins & Paul Worrilow (1 Viewer)

Nice call on Worrilow. 9-10 vs Panthers. I know he's playing 3 downs, but was he the MLB in the base defense this week? Or was he the SLB like last week? Will he retain the MLB role over Dent going forward? And what happens with the 3 down role when Weatherspoon gets back?

Just wondering if his numbers are sustainable or somewhat of a fluke.

Thanks. He was basically a brick wall for Car 56 RBs all game. When any runs or screens happened he had his hands in on the play. He even tackled Cam in the backfield.

While on the topic of coaching, defensive coordinator Matt Patricia dialed up a well-timed five-man blitz, bringing linebackers Jamie Collins and Dane Fletcher up the A gaps and dropping right defensive end Chandler Jones in coverage to produce a sack on third-and-5 (2:45). Blitzing Peyton Manning always comes with risk because the ball is often out so quick, but it was particularly well timed by Fletcher and Collins, and Manning fumbled the ball as Collins showed some power by steamrolling running back Knowshon Moreno. Collins, the team’s top draft pick, is still learning the defense and that’s part of the reason why his playing time has been so limited this year. But there have been some impressive flashes from him, such as that play.
Hightower's final play of the night was Jacob Tamme's 10-yard touchdown reception with 6:14 remaining. Our sense was that Hightower was dealing with something that knocked him out of the game, as he just didn't look right.

I caught the play where Collins bull-rushed Knowshon, who's a great blocker. It would have been a sack if Manning didn't fumble. I may be wrong but he batted down a Wes Welker target that wasn't credited to him in the 4th as well.

As a testament to his athletisism he's played CB, LB, and DE in college and excelled at each position. His output will surprise if he gets the snaps.

Collins is an absolute beast. Played QB in HS. His true freshman year at Southern Miss, he played safety. You can google a pic of him where the opposing team is kicking a PAT or FG and his waist is literally at or above the OL's heads.

His sophomore year they moved him to LB and his jr & sr years to DE. He didn't get a lot of publicity because of the tank job coach Ellis Johnson did his sr year. He still had 90 tackles that year.

He was fun to watch. He terrorized Case Keenum in the 2011 C-USA Championship game.

Wow, I didn't know all of that. He had a 41.5" vert and a 11'7 broad jump. That's crazy leg strength.

Hmnnn.

Haven't seen Jamie Collins in the locker room thus far. His chair is still folded up.

As of Sunday Collins was starting to feel better, but throat was still real sore and swollen. Not sure I'd count on him this week.
