DJ Swearinger 2013 IDP Train (1 Viewer)

Is this the week he starts becoming a valuable DB? I've grabbed him off waivers and he's going into the lineup this weekend.

DJ's been my favorite safety from this class from last November, seemingly. He and Cyprien were neck and neck for me, but just like what I saw when I got to watch Swearinger play a bit more.

Been sitting on him in a couple of keeper/dynasty leagues, expecting '14 would be the earliest he contributed. Very interested to see what he can do with the remainder of this year. Starting him in one league, playing the "show me" game in another where I have safer(at present) options.

In the wait and see category for me but I am keeping track and he is in the 'reason for optimism' group of players and great that he is doing well with his opportunities.

Yeah, I've had him on my scout team since preseason, but we have pretty short benches so I've been waiting to grab him. I might have to move on him now instead of later.

Trail derailment. I need to go back and watch more of the game, but for the pieces I did see, I saw them use him in a variety of ways, none of which produced much in the way of tackles. It seemed to me that when covering guys close to the line, he played them really tight and Luck would go to another read if he looked in Swearinger's direction. And then I saw him doubling deep WRs several times and Luck would throw it short on a check-down. He looks really fast and capable, but he sure didn't do a whole heck of a lot last night.

Thanks for the insights, I was wondering what happened myself.

DJ has a ton of swag and is a total headhunter in the hole, but he is often out of position and a complete liability in coverage right now.

hit it square on the head

when he wasn't the SS in the box he was the nickel defender in the box.......they might have actually been better if Joe Mays stayed in the Nickel and Keo stayed in deep. Mays can't run but he probably knows more where to be at this point. Swearinger is raw and he could drastically improve as the season goes as the texans will be looking to see what they have in young talent as this season is over.

I read he's still struggling in coverage. He seems to get the ball well when he's got an idea where it's going, but too often he misses the boat. I think he'll be good when (if) he gets comfortable in the defense, from what little I've seen of him. That could be next year, though.

Not saying the guy is a top 10 dynasty DB but how in the world is this guy nowhere to be found in the dynasty DB rankings?? There are plenty of chumps on there, yet DJ doesn't belong?

Good question.
