Offseason IDP Rankings (1 Viewer)

Phorts

My Dynasty league is highly active in the off-season and keeping up with FA, trades, coaching changes, etc is tough.

Does FBG/Jene have pre-draft/post 1st waive FA tiers?

Disregard. I just read in Jene's offseason thread that he's working on Every Down LB's and Tiers soon. I shall remain remain patient and let the IDP wave wash over me.

lol. fbg isnt your best option for offseason dynasty content
I disagree. FBG does a solid job with Dynasty content. Between Bloom, Parsons and Lammey they do a great job on the offensive side. I'm a member of DLF who i believe does the best job with comprehensive dynasty content out there. Their IDP side is getting better.

Regardless, the title of the post was Offseason IDP Rankings. My Dyno is a salary cap league and so IDP often get treated like redraft players, especially non-rookies. So, keeping up to speed on projections/rankings/tiers/etc from a redraft perspective in the offseason is extremely valuable.

Where exactly are those updated dynasty rankings? Shoot, either offense or defense? Love to see them.

Yeah I know, but I mentioned "updated". Perhaps I should have also added "good" or "accurate". Those rankings are garbage. Proof? Since this thread was about IDP, let's talk IDP:

Michael Johnson the #22 overall IDP? Huh?

James Laurinaitis the #3 overall IDP? Really? After a season which saw Ogletree take a big chunk out of Laurinaitiis' production? But somehow Lavonte David is #5?

Jared Allen #21 overall IDP. lolz?

Burfict, Ogletree and Kendricks are #30, 31 and 32 respectively. Don't forget Phorts...this is supposed to be updated "dynasty" IDP. In reality, all 3 of those guys are top 15 IDP dynasty targets and probably top 10.

Desmond Bishop is #37. I thought this was updated? Borbely has him listed at #18 overall and Larkin at #21.

Kiko Alonso is #39. No...not joking. He's a top 7 or even top 5 dynasty IDP player, but not according to FBG's awesome dynasty content.

Should I continue?

Jerrell Freeman at #60

Danny Trevathan at #76

OK I'm done. Like I said FBG does NOT do dynasty content. Look at the date submitted on the rankings. Only 1 (James Brimacombe) updated his rankings on 4/7. The others were updated on 1/22, 8/27 and 8/17. 8/27 and 8/17? Is that a joke? Neither Larkin nor Borbely did any in-season rankings? Whatever.

Bottom line is that I stand behind my statement: "FBG isn't your best option for dynasty content". I'll take it one step further, FBG should not be used for anything resembling dynasty content. Instead of having dynasty content they are probably working on their App Magazine. *rollseyes*

I agree, FBG is really lacking in its dynasty content. You would think they would put a little more effort into it, that would keep more people coming here year round.

They don't care about people coming here year round. FBG is free during the offseason. That is why they put all/most of their attention towards in-season, weekly content. If FBG really was going to have a solid dynasty foundation they would charge an offseason fee for dynasty product. I'm sure people would pay for it, but until FBG decides to actually make money from dynasty content it will always be lacking.

That's great Gridiron, but the entire point of this post was looking for updated REDRAFT IDP Rankings for the upcoming 2014 season. LIke i said in my second post, Jene has already mentioned that he is working on Tiers among other things. I don't purchase FBG for their dynasty content, so whatever they throw out there is a bonus and supplements my other sources for that specific content. Chad Parson's was writing Dynasty content for FBG, has a weekly podcast in season and has his own with Doug Veatch throughout the offseason (UTH). Not sure if he's still writing for FBG but he's a quality Dyno mind. The site has other great writers as well that have quality content that, while may not be specifically tagged "dynasty" is applicable.

As for IDP Dyno content, it's certainly a niche market that has yet to be truly filled by any one source. The FBG's do a great job in their content to make note of players and things worthy of long term consideration, but as we've noted that's only for in-season.

My philosophy with Dynasty IDP is to treat it more like redraft than the offensive side of the ball. So much turnover, scheme changes and year to year variation it's hard to project all but the elite crop of rookies. Even then it's a crapshoot. Guys come out of nowhere with little pedigree. Most importantly, their value in leagues (From my experience) is much lower than the offensive skill positions. They come and go and unless you're deaing with a JJ Watt or Luke Keuchly, i'm really only concerned with how they project for the next season.

Hence the post. Hope that clears things up for ya :)
