Paul Worrilow-Enlighten Me (1 Viewer)

I'd like to ask why he's in Jene's Elite LB 1 Tier. Is he playing the Left or Right Inside Backer spot? I've seen differing depth charts. With ranks of 17 and 14 overall it seems he's quite a bit removed from the other guys on that tier. I'd love to pick him up but I'd like to learn more about what got him in that tier.

I like to think of tackle production in triangles, i.e. which three players in the front seven are most likely to compete for tackles and which three players in the back seven will likely compete for tackles. Assess a player's talent and role in the scheme in the context of that surrounding cast discussion and it's easy to identify which players may have above-average opportunity.

Who's competing with Worrilow for tackles? Bartu and Moore? When that happened last year, Worrilow had a huge year and I didn't think he played all that well as a rookie. So, I think a low level LB1 (90-95 solos) is a reasonable floor expectation. If he improves with a year of NFL prep in the offseason and/or takes to this front seven scheme better, there's more upside there.

And my tiers are always skewed toward ceiling. So Worrilow gets the benefit of the doubt for me in the High Upside LB2 vs Elite LB1 range.

Jene, I keep reading that Shembo may have passed Bartu? Have you heard differently? If not, is Bartu the man to own? Thanks!

Working through notes as I update tiers today...here's the latest I've seen on this battle.

“I thought he looked very good out there,” Falcons coach Mike Smith said. “I still think that we have our two starters in Paul and Joplo, but we needed to get Prince some work with Paul and we also have to get Prince some work with Joplo.”

I'm willing to have my mind changed on Shembo but he still feels like a hopeful projection who needs more developmental time.

Derailing the thread:

I like Joplu as an end of the bench guy, especially in dynasty. Looks like a lock for 3 down work. Getting 3 down LBs at the end of the draft is always nice.

i think bartu and shembo's value will depend on the ability of the defense to generate a pass rush. neither worrilow or bartu have shown a knack for blitzing or pressuring the QB. if massaquoi, beirmann or whoever can function effectively attacking the QB then they can keep bartu/worrilow tandem for 3 downs.

i have read how they like shembo as a pass rusher from up the middle. if they need that skillset then he'll get the burn but otherwise i think shembo is a slow developmental (ie situational) player.

Think about this Worrilow, was an undrafted FA, who was thrown in in the middle of the season and produced like he did. How much of a chance did he have to work with the 1's prior to this outbreak? How much has he had now...

I'm locked and loaded with him in many leagues.

I'm thinking get him if you can, sit back, and enjoy the ride.

Paul Worrilow is a pure IDP stud. Wouldn't surprise me if he finishes in the top 5 at LB because of his high tackles per game. I remember last year he put up over 30 tackles in 2 weeks last year. PIMP!!

Watched a lot of Worrilow yesterday. He never stops. He's a guy who jumps in even after the tackle is made - the "Since I've ran all this way, I might as well hop on" mentality, and I saw him get a few extra assists out of it.

He's not the fastest, but he tracks the ball like mad man. He uses his hands well to shed blocks and never stops churning his legs. He also doesn't try for the "big hit" tackle either - he wraps up.

I had to drop him last year, only because I have Burfict and David, but damn I hated to do it. I think he's a stud for years and years, as long as he's in the lineup. He started this season with a 7TK & 8ATK game. I don't think he can catch worth crap, so don't look for INTs, and I don't see him going for strips of the ball that much. He's just a great tackle producer, from what I've seen.

I've noticed a disturbing trend for Paul Worrilow: He hasn't had more than 1 assist at home since week 1, and hasn't had more than 6 total tackles at home since week 1 either.

Home:

1 vs NO: 8-7-0

3 vs TB: 5-1-0

6 vs CHI: 5-1-0

8 vs DET: 4-0-0 (London)

12 vs CLE: 5-1-0

Away:

2 @ CIN: 6-8-0

4 @ MIN: 5-4-0

5 @ NYG: 9-5-0

7 @ BAL: 3-7-1

10 @ TB: 8-2-0

11 @CAR: 6-3-1

66 total tackles on the road (6 games) vs 37 at home (5 games)? Did Atlanta fire their stat keeper after week 1? Because they've been incredibly stingy with assists since then. Benching him this week at home vs Arizona, but will be sure to start him next week at GB.

Laurinaitis went through an entire season with no assists in any of this home games.

It gets really annoying when guys like Fletcher and Mayo would average 5-6 assists per home game.

Is this season the best it going to get for Worrilow? No Weatherspoon, lots of teams running on ATL. He's LB 24 for the season in a dynasty league I'm in. Thinking of dropping him for more upside.

In this defense with this coaching staff, probably... Doesn't seem like he's being asked to do as much as he was last season. Who knows when coaching staffs change from year to year.
