That's a tough one. I'm a 7/8 hcp and haven't pulled that off.goals for 2014:
- play 20+ rounds
- see my index move into the 17s (went from 20.2 to 18.3 last year)
- figure out how to hit my driver so it's not a liability
- track my round-by-round stats more consistently
- make a birdie every round
- keep every round in 2014 under 100
yeah, a birdie every 18 is a tall order. it goes hand-in-hand with my goal with my driver: by not topping or push/pulling it OB, i can take better advantage of Par 5s. of the Par 5s at my local track, i've only made 4 on one of them, and it was the only one over 500 yards. That's a tough one. Adding 1 goal - no 90's. I blew up last year twice and shot 90 and 91 - the 91 I was completely hungover, my 4th round of the weekend and running on fumes but still
awesome! thanks for the suggestion, i'll check it out.- Get into single digits; currently about an 11-12
- Average no more than 1 double-bogey/round
- Average no more than 1 3-putt/round
- Take lessons
- Try to have fun and not get too pissed when I'm sucking it up

me too! only been playing 20 or so thoughI've been playing golf for 35 years and have never made a hole in one. It happens in 2014

Yeah man that's a pretty lofty goal. My BIL who I keep stats with, and who played on the Junior PGA or whatever when he was in HS and who is now about a 6, only averages 1.1 birdies/round.yeah, a birdie every 18 is a tall order. it goes hand-in-hand with my goal with my driver: by not topping or push/pulling it OB, i can take better advantage of Par 5s. of the Par 5s at my local track, i've only made 4 on one of them, and it was the only one over 500 yards. That's a tough one. Personally, I'm the type of player who is long and can hit some great shots, but is unpolished and erratic (usually take at least one double bogey per round) keeping me in the 9ish range. In 2013 I had several rounds with 2 plus birdies and even one miraculous round where I made two eagles and 4 birdies. Even so I only average .8/round.
I'm not trying to talk you out of your goal, but as a 17 I frankly think something like scoring no higher than a 7 on a hole for a round and recording at least 3 pars is the better target.
Download the app ubersense on your iPhone - it allows you to slow things down to 1/8th the speed on a video. It helped me get a feel for how I thought I was clearing my hips but definitely was not.If you aren't filming your practice sessions then start doing it.
I did it for the first time this past Sunday and have probably never felt better about being able to fix my flaws in the future while I'm practicing or even during a round. I've never had better feedback than actually seeing with my own eyes exactly what my setup/alignment/swing is/are doing on each shot.
You been lifting weights with your johnson?Finished last season as legitimate 6 handicap, lowest for me since 05-06 timeframe when i was a soft 4.5. Goal for this yr is get to scratch. Ill play a lot more than normal and practice as much as time allows. We'll see...
Because of weightlifting I've been doing 3+ years my balance is off the charts now and i am longer than ever at age 46. Time to fine tune these advantages and bring overall scoring down. Will be focusing most on putting, bunker play, lob/pitch 30-60 yd stuff and driving consistency

It's pretty incredible. I was there for Sunday when Bubba won a couple of years ago. The fact that there are no cell phones makes it's truly unique. We were camped on 18 and you can really tell the difference between a birdie roar and an eagle roar when the groups are going through amen corner. Compare that to other tournaments I've been to (heritage/players championship/tour championship where everyone is streaming other groups on their phone while waiting for the next shots live, and it's just a different feel.Amazing golf course and history...hope to make it there some day.RIP Eisenhower tree.
