Writing PMs is not nearly as easy as before. I don't know who was the poster that would link everyone's PM to the draft thread, but that would be so appreciated here if it was someone who is in our draft.

Good Luck everyone!

And to BSS, thanks for the first pick. I am not used to being on the front end and may do poorly there, but I enjoyed getting to pick Adrian and I so enjoy being on the turn on these. THanks and I was just razzing you a little about the value in the trade. As long as Mr. Gore is healthy then I am happy.

Two QBs in the top eleven. I call that a run and wonder how long it will hold together. You guys could stick the top of the draft with the QB dregs if this continues.

Why are people commenting in the draft thread? It makes it harder to keep everything organized. I thought that was the purpose of this thread.

1.12 R. Mendenhall, RB - Pitt

pming next
better pick any why? Im going w Mendy. I think MJd jumped the shark last season. not worth 10 overall IMO
My thinking:- even with the knee issue and Jennings/Karim taking more touches than MJD had taken from him in 09, he was still a stud except when the Jags were getting blown out

- will continue to be more involved in the passing game than Mendenhall

- Jags will continue to be a run first team, Big Ben can make the Steelers pass happy at times

- MJD just turned 26 far from over the hill

Won't be surprised if Mendenhall outproduces MJD, but even with some things going against him, MJD outproduced Mendenhall on a ppg basis last year

At first I wasn't thrilled with the 16-hole, but I don't mind the challenge at this point of the year. Plus I got a lot of stuff going on so that's a good spot for me anyway.

We're doing 24 rounds, right?

Quite happy to see Gore and Jennings both available.

I did the PM thing, but I cannot link to my own - Jeter23 will have to add it.

Please do Jeter, and can we get a color coded board above, if possible? Thx

while the bottom of the draft is a challenge, I think just 2 years ago that Myself, JeffP and BLoom all had the 16 spot and if IIRC we all won the leagues from that spot. I started a thread comparing the teams in the various drafts from then but I cant seem to locate it, did it get pruned???

Went with Brady to avoid being left out of the initial QB run. Seems like QBs are going earlier & earlier every survivor draft we have.

On the subject of PMs... if you want to get a pop up when you get a new PM like we used to get automatically, you can change your settings to do this.

- Go to your profile

- Select "Edit Profile" - upper right corner of page

- Select the "Settings" tab - left side below "Your Options"

- Select "Notification Options"

- In the "Notifications Preferences" section, check the box that says show pop-ups for new PMs.

Considered him hard when SJax was taken from me, but his foot is getting less and less appreciative of hauling that 260 pounds around the field.
The foot issues are worrisome, but he was producing at a clip of basically double any other TE before the injuries last year. Upside more than offsets risk, and he was pretty damned good even when he was playing on the bum wheel. I'll happily take him here even though the TE value seems to stretch pretty deep with the new crop of passcatchers at the position

considered Gates instead of Nicks but backed of for both the reasons mentioned (foot and depth at TE)....foot seems like a nagging thing that keeps lingering...when he does play he produces like a first rounder in these things......

Before injuries AND before VJax was back in the fold. Still - stud.

Don't think Vjax's presence hampers Gates, if anything can help by drawing safety attention. Top SD WR while Gates was on fire thru first 8 games:Naanee 5-110-1Floyd 3-95-1Floyd 6-97-1Floyd 2-45Floyd 8-213-1Crayton 6-117Crayton 7-82Crayton 4-46SD passing pie plenty big enough for Vjax and Gates both to get great #s

IMO the biggest threat to the passing game is if the Oline and the RBs can have better success. But Norv loves to sling it

Trying something new with this being a 24 rd league....hence the Vick and Finley pick.

Andy got a steal in McFadden. I honestly overlooked him after almost taking him in the first5 round. There are also two WRs that I strongly considered.

2.8 Jermichael Finley, TE - GB
RODReach of the Draft.get in here an explain this Bass. Bump Finley!!!!!1
I'm going to name drop, but their obvious.Clark - getting old and too many weapons other aerial weapons...also weapons that are slotted as considerations for me latter.Witten - Seemed to have a better connection with Kitna than Romo. Lots of guys capable of catching TDs in Dallas. All in all, I think Finley has more upside of anyone not named Gates.Lastly, regardless of the number of rounds, there are only x amount of QBs and Y amount of TEs to go around.eta: None of the big 4 TEs would have survived to my 3rd round pick.

Totally get the Finley pick. He was on an 84/1200ish pace last year and that without an inordinate amount of targets (26 through 4 games). I think that's closer to his floor than his ceiling for this year. With the wider spread between elite TEs and a TEBC than the elite QBs and QBBC, I'm not sure why 5 QBs went before any TE...

Ill tell ya why, its all about risk. QB is way safer than the TEs especially Finley, I dont think he has played a full season of games in the NFL yet. Seems to be often injured. Granted you dont take players thinking they will be hurt. Risky pick is alls Im saying.extrapolating 4 games into 16 for an 84/1200 pace is flawed btw.

Where do you think Finley should go in this format?

based on my own percieved risks, he went about a 1/2 a round early. IMO I would take the other 2 tes before him. But I get the whole upside move. Rudys pick of him in WSL felt early too

The spot is fine for a premium TE. But when you spend such a high pick on TE, you shouldn't have to worry about a backup TE for some time. Drafting Finley warrants a TE2 sooner than otherwise necessary. At least it would be my thinking had I drafted him.

I don't see it as too controversial (the extrapolation) - Rodgers didn't feed Finley to the detriment of the offense or even really favor him in the target distribution. If anything, Jones potential departure in FA and Driver's decline could make that conservative. As far as Finley risk, totally agree. When I took him at 3.4 in WSL2, I followed with a Jimmy Graham pick at 7.4 - In exchange for the risk you take on with Finley's durability track record, you get one of the only 3 or so TEs with a decent chance of giving you 12-15 weekly as a floor at TE with 25-30+ upside. With the depth at TE it isn't that hard to offset the injury risk with a solid backup to be a firewall at a reasonable price (say 9th-10th or so).

Golf clap for getting Mr. Fitzgerald that late Mr. Jeter23. I knew that he couldn't last till the turn, but I sure was hoping.

Big kudos for BSS for the drafting partners he selected and while I am at it to our entire crew for the awesome work early on in this draft. Very nice pace for the BSS PSDL Draft!

half a round is a reach? you must be hard up for some ff discussion
LOLNot really a reach I guess. Bass is obviously trying to hit the home run. id just rather have Dallas clark or Witten was my real point.

ya what the hell was he talking about with writing off witten because kitna looked to him more? like hes done nothing with romo the past 5 years or however long

Not writing Witten off...just concerned that he could revert to his days of fewer TDs. There was minimal separation in the 3 remaining TDs so I went with that I felt would have the least amount of competition in the red zone.

After I took Vick in the 1st, which would be counter to anything I have ever believed about his value, I decided to swing away.

Brandon Marshall - 86 recpt and 1000 yards in 14 games on a new team with below average QBing. If that's his floor, I'm happy.

Seriously gave consideration to one RB. After reviewing the draft board it became apparent that a RB that I like will fall to the 4th round. The same review made it obvious that WRs are about to be hammered and there was a good chance the entire tier could be cleaned out.

agreed would have been very pleased if he had fallen one more pick. Pretty happy still with Colston as a WR1 in the last 3rd...

If his TE pick was a half round reach, then Marshall is a similar (or better) half round value. Very nice pick here by BnB

Colston and M. Williams are both solid WRs in the late 3rd. Between the early QB run and more perceived talent, it seems like the guys drafting late are getting mid 2nd rd to early 3rd round value at the 3/4 turn.

I would imagine by the time we get to say the end of the 4th....that the 64 players picked will look very similiar to the 64 players picked in the WSL's with maybe a handful of changes.....so really it may be the same value just positioned a little differently....the early QB run may have had something to do with the positioning but the added 4 draft spots may have something to do with it as well, as owners can try to nail down studs at say QB and TE, knowing that with 4 extra draft slots they will be able to draft maybe close to 10 WR's if they chose....so the WR position for instance may see what we would consider "value" fall a little later by the simple fact that if I get 10 WR's I have an improved chance on hitting on 3 solid scores each week, so the need for a stud WR early may not be as important in a 24 league as it is in a 20 and definately a 18.....

yep, debated MW and Colston, went Colston only because more prolific passing game and the possibility that MW gets in trouble before the season. MW could easily outproduce him if he maintains his TD rate or gets more targets or Freeman takes another step forward... Either are fine #1 WRs to snag in the 3rd

Interesting to see Hillis fall 1 to 2 full rounds since the WSLs. Personally I think there's roughly another 6 RBs on the board with equal or better talent and/or in better situations. We got late enough in the 3rd that those guys will be available in the 4th.

using my Hillis pick as an example...in the WSL's he went

1. 2.3

2. 1.15

3. 3.2

4. 2.7

AVG: 2.3

Toads took him in WSL2 probably high, but even if you say he flips his picks those two rounds he still goes at 2.2 in that one and drops his avg to 2.6

between those 4 drafts he averaged out as the 12 RB to be taken.....

so if you look at the first avg....2.3....me getting him at 3.11 would seem to represent value....however.....he was the 14th RB taken in this draft....

so did I get "value".... ....hell I don't know....I hate numbers...it seems like I did at 3.11 but then again it really doesn't....

I would much rather have Colston (even with the bad knees) than Tampa Mike. Both have thier flaws n warts but IMHO Tampa Mike could be a more collasal bust than Colston
