Is there a 2014 Rookie LB = Zach Thomas Rookie Year? (1 Viewer)

Does anyone remember Zach Thomas' rookie year?

I think IIRC - he came out in his first came with 10-12 solo tackles and never looked back.

I remember grabbing him in our IDP league somewhere around week 6 after it appeared he wouldn't be a flash in the pan but was the real deal.

Is there a LB in this years rookie class - that can come out of no where and have a season like Zach Thomas's rookie year? That I can target with my later to last pick?

An unknown rook with a starting job right out of the gate? I don't see that situation this year, what with Moseley and Shazier being widely heralded.

A guy like Brodie Croyle would be pretty valuable if Bobby Wagner went down.

Chris McCain should see some nickel snaps over Phillip Wheeler and may gain some base package snaps as the season progresses. Probably the most impressive UDFA defensive player this preseason. You won't find much more unknown than he is.

I just don't see a rook with a clear path to a starting job that's going to be an unknown tho.

I'd look at these guys as ILBs with significant upside that you can likely get very late:

Lamin Barrow, DEN

Chris Borland, SF

Khairi Fortt, NO

Brodie Croyle was a QB?
Geez I meant Brock Coyle.

How that slipped passed me I have no clue. Sorry.
No apology necessary. I think the best chance of a Zach Thomas is Ryan Shazier in Pitt or CJ Mosley in Baltimore. Shazier should fill the box scores from day 1 with added big play value.

Mosley has had a really good year, and I picked him up in the later rounds too!!
You got Mosley in the later rounds of a rookie draft or full draft. I got Mosley my 16 team dynasty rookie draft and glad I did but took a late first rounder to do so. Hard to see him falling to later rounds.

For me both Preston Brown and Anthony Barr have exceeded expectations by a good margin. Got them both at the turn of the 4th in a 16 team rookie draft (yeah, I know, no one cares)

Funny Zach Thomas is mentioned. I was thinking just the other day whether he would have survived in todays NFL. With the deemphasis on run stopping backers and coverage becoming an major emphasis guys like Brandon Spikes have a hard time overcoming it and become niche players. I think Thomas was better than that but it was sort of a disheartening thought.

Tell me about Anthony Barr.

I'm looking at his numbers and I'd be interested in picking him up but I would need more consistent production to make it worth my time. Is anyone projecting his numbers to increase as the season goes on and he gets the playing time under his belt? Or is he already at his ceiling for this year?
