Android apps (2 Viewers)

What browser does everyone use?
Chrome, end thread.
I use it for my computers and I love it but it works for #### on my Razr. It's slow and crashes constantly.
It's great on my Note 3. What I love most is the integration with my Chrome on all my other devices. All the same bookmarks, history, etc.
I love it for the same thing but for whatever reason it works for #### on my Razr.

I had a hard time with the home and power button combo, too. The trick is to hold them down until you hear the "shutter" click.

So I've got AOSB ROM installed and running...Android 4.4.2. Pretty slick. Had to side load a few apps because I didn't like the newer versions (Google Maps, Facebook, etc), but overall I'm pretty happy with it and will keep it for a while. So far I'm not missing TouchWiz at all, and my phone is running faster than it has in a looong time. Very snappy now that all the bloat is gone. Also, Clean Master hasn't popped up once yet, and before I flashed this ROM it would pop up every 4 hours or so. There's definitely a lot of freed up memory now.

I wish I could figure out how to take a screenshot though, the home/power button trick isn't working, and Ive even installed a few screenshot apps but none of them have worked.
Try home and volume down. That is becoming a more standard option lately.

If you're looking for a great keyboard, I'm a huge fan of Kii. Been using it for over a year, great customizable options, gesture typing, etc. Worth checking out.

8sms my fave messaging (sms/mms) app

made by the cyanogenMod team
This is what I use. Question.... Is there a way to set individual LED colors to specific people (Nexus 5)
You can do this with the Textra app.
hmmm.... Can I load all my text convos from 8sms to Textra if I switch over?
Yes. Install SMS backup and restore from Play Store. Backup texts. Install Textra. Restore texts. Should work fine. You an also assign specific notification tones as well as led colors for contacts (and specific notification icon colors for contacts as well). I've got mine set for red led/icon for the girlfriend, green for work texts, and blue for everyone else. Pretty cool.

Most of you like the Google camera right? I don't think I gave it a fair chance. I hated the interface and quickly uninstalled.

Is it much better? And how?

The new update on the nexus 5 is pretty awesome. LOVE the new interface.... also, what you see in the viewfinder is what u see when u snap the shot - prior to the update it was cropped

here's a panorama shot I took at the ACC yesterday w my nexus 5 - would never have worked this nicely before the update

eta: click the image once, then click "view raw image" to see the entire shot

I know this might be off topic, but here goes....... Does anyone have a good app for finding your phone? And while we're at it, finding an iphone from an android?

I was using Sprints Family Locator but I'm on TING now.

TIA
ANyone?
what phone do you have? google has it's own "device manager" in which you can locate your device from a computer if it's lost/stolen

that's all I know of.. oh and Kaspersky Internet security for android has some location features... even snaps pics of the perp who has ur phone

What phone do you have? On the S3 you can just 'palm swipe' the screen and it will take a screen shot. I imagine newer phones have a similar capability
S3 but its a custom ROM...tried activating gestures but haven't figured it out yet...tons more options than stock ROM and I haven't had a ton of time to check out all the menus.Eta: the S3 has the home/power button thing built in but that feature isn't on this ROM either.

Is Samsung supposed to have that app where I dont have to touch the screen to open or swipe things? If so where do I get it or is it already there? I admit I only want it to feel like I am a magical Jedi but damn it I want it.

I swear I saw an ad where people were swiping above the screen and stuff was happening as if they were touching the screen.

Stuff like what?

There are settings where if you put your hand over your screen it will mute your phone (if you're watching a video or something)

Dont remember off hand where.. I think settings - gestures. Thats off memory

Say I want to open face book I could just point to it without touching the screen and it would open. That kind of stuff.

My note 3 does this on some apps.

@prosopis....settings motions and gestures.

Some of the stuff works good some doesbt. I can check my time etc without hitting a button.... the keep on I'm viewing setting seems ok.

Also at first I thought it was a gimmicks but sbeam is great. Wife and I share pics that way instead of texting

You guys really need to get Muzei. I can't recommend it enough. It pulls in currated pics as backgrounds (I use fine art typically, its the default and I like it) and has them blurred. You can double tap to focus. If you had that and used some folders to clean up the app sprawl, you get a real nice looking experience.

Muzei is free. Same designer as DashClock (which I also like).

Nice, this is cool. Thanks.

Ok, I found what seems to be a pretty decent family phone tracker. Seems to be even better than Sprints Family Tracker, and it is much more accurate on iphones.

Cool app. I happen to like the app sprawl...I'm not a fan of folders, I want my most used apps on my home screen available with a single tap. My lock screen looks nice and simple, but when I unlock, I want everything staring me in the face.

So after years of carrying just my blackberry (for work...I really hate phones), we got a deal on these Samsung S5 phones that I couldn't pass up. I am ditching the phone at home and replacing it with a smart phone. I've had an iPod for a couple years now, but this is my first smart phone. Anything the noob needs to know?
