VERY SERIOUS Redraft League Needs Two Special Owners! (1 Viewer)

Jacob G.

Hello!

My name is Jacob, and is probably the case with you, I love fantasy football.

As a matter of fact, when the NFL season rolls by, I think about nothing but fantasy. Even when I'm sleeping, my mind is constantly thinking about trades, what players are on the waiver wire, and ultimately, what I can do to make my roster better.

But it wasn't always like that. I remember the dark days before Best of the Beast.

Those were the days when I wasn't worried about a roster, bur rather about what league I'd play in next season.

Those were the days when the only concerns I had were ones about the owners who hadn't updated their lineups in a month.

Those were the days when barely anyone cared what happened in our league, boiling my frustration level to record highs.

But then...I got an idea.

How about instead of me joining fantasy leagues that claimed to be "serious", I simply created my own and made certain that everyone who joined was legit?

So I got fourteen guys, crammed them together into a league, and thus, Best of the Beast was formed.

Soon I found out that when you stress the idea of a serious league, and lay all the rules out in black and white, it is possible to have a fantastic fantasy football experience.

That is exactly what happened last year. Jokes were made, rules were followed, all lineups were set, friendly trash-talking was present, champions were born, and we're looking to do it all over again next year.

Unfortunately, two owners had to step down during the offseason, and I am on the hunt for some guys who can take their spots in 2014.

This is a very serious 14-man NFL.com league that, with the exception of a few minor tweaks, uses the standard NFL.com scoring system.

It is also free, but do not let that scare you away.

This is a great group of guys, and as long as your heart is in the game, it is nearly impossible not to have fun. I can almost promise that if you join with an open-mind, this will be a very enjoyable experience in your fantasy football career.

We are looking for owners that will do all of the following:

  • Check their lineups virtually every day of the fantasy season.
  • Be able to attend and participate in a live draft that will likely be taking place in mid-late August.
  • Have full comprehension of fantasy football and how it works.
  • Do research, and come into the draft board with a good plan of what you are going to do.
  • Be an active member in the league discussion boards.
  • Be able to follow all rules set by the league commissioner.
If you are interested, you need to send in an application that answers both of the following questions:

  • What would you bring to this league? In other words, why should I choose you?
  • How many years of experience have you had playing fantasy football?
If possible, it is also highly recommended that owners send in any links to previous leagues that they have participated in.

If you want to send in an application, you can do it in one of two ways:

1.) Write it as a reply to this forum.

2.) Message me right here on FootballGuys.

Regardless of which option you choose, please leave your e-mail so I can contact you if I decide that you are worthy of a spot. If that is the case, I will send you a lot more information on exactly how this league will run.

I know that you may be thinking, "A free, redraft league...What's so special about it?"

There's nothing I'm hiding from you. There's nothing that I'm not sharing.

But as I said, if you join Best of the Beast and your heard and mind are in the right place, you will have fun.

Just be serious and active (you will get kicked out if you're not), make sure that you are willing to fulfill all of the requirements, and the rest will play itself out.

And who knows? You may even discover a side you never knew you had.

Enjoy your day,

Jacob

What website you plan on using to manage the league?

Got hooked playing in the mid 80s when the concept first took place. I loved being the commissioner and watching the stats. Started a keeper league with 8 teams, then it expanded to 12 teams. Even wrote a book on how to manage keeper leagues, self published it, sold a handful, and started hosting a cable access television show with a couple guys from high school. Then life got real busy....I married a woman with three boys from a previous marriage, started a business, the show started to take off and became popular in its local area, kept being commissioner, even wrote for a nationwide weekly fantasy football magazine for 3-4 weeks. Then it got real busy.....wife got pregnant and my personal business started to take off. Something had to give. I left the show I created (it continued for another 3 years after that) and I gave up being the commissioner and playing fantasy football.

Fast forward.....to three years ago

Divorced and in a slump in life. Started going back to the things I love....yep, one of them was fantasy football. Did a shoot out on facebook that I wanted to join a league. Got a message from someone that they needed a coach to take over a down and out team in a keeper league. It was from someone I knew in high school and I said yes. It turns out that the keeper that I was joining was the keeper league I started in 1991! I rebuilt the team and made it to the fantasy bowl last year....notice I didn't say won the fantasy bowl....but it was fun as heck and I plan on taking the gold home with me soon.

How well will I do in a redraft league? Not sure. I like listening to fantasy football podcast all the time to get caught up with the players and hear what the pros have to say about them. Did a couple of autodraft leagues on ESPN and had some fun doing it. If your timeline is coming down to the wire and you still haven't found anyone, let me know, I'll join. Best way to get a hold of me is email me at richhavlik@gmail.com

Good Luck and have fun

Rich

What is the League ID# (for 2013)? I would like to take a look around and see if I might be interested in it.
