MasterChef (1 Viewer)

HellToupee

This debuts tonight at 9PM est. after Hell's Kitchen

I'm guessing we will see the more subdued UK version of Gordon Ramsay

anyone else planning on watching?

yep, I set the DVR to give it a shot.

I've almost had enough of Hell's Kitchen as it's the same garbage over and over and over again....hoping this has a little more substance and will most likely be deleting Hell's Kitchen from my life soon.

Sidenote: On accident dicsovered a great new show on the Food Channel called "Chopped" over the weekend. Solid cooking competition show.

Big fan of Chopped. I think that is probably the most difficult of the cooking challenge shows.DVR is set for MasterChef. Never watched Hell's Kitchen because I can't stand Ramsey but this premise sounds pretty interesting so I will give it a shot.

I'm in. I watch Hell's and Kitchen Nightmares when I find it on rerun, so I'll check this out too, looks better than hell's.

I stopped watching Ramsey a while ago, find him boring. I would much rather watch reruns of Good Eats or Chopped.

I'll give this show a shot but don't have much hope for it.

What did everyone think of this?

Not bad and plan to continue watching....like it better than Hell's Kitchen at this point since it's less of a trainwreck type of show and more about actually cooking with a little bit of drama thrown in.

Anybody else experience the syncing of the voice and mouth movement was like a 1/2 a second off? Really annoyed me after a while (but maybe it was just my DVR or Stereo)

I thought it was pretty entertaining. But I also like the American Idol audition shows, then never watch the real competition. The true test will be how this show is once they're picked all the contestants.

Joe Bastianich comes off like a constipated budgie trying to be the Simon of the show. They shoulda hired his mom to be the Paula. Turned it off after the 2nd overpimped moment, which means i lasted about 8 minutes.

That 'loaded baked potato' slop the dude with the over-alls served looked vile. When Ramsey dumped it and all the butter dripped out I threw up in my mouth. :goodposting:

I thought the thread said MasterChief :lmao: :excited:
I flipped this on and and was shocked that it wasn't about what I thought it would be about. I thought Microsoft bought up TV time to promote their new game. It wouldn't surprise me.

Anyone watching the new season of this? The last two nights have provided some outstanding entertainment.

I'm watching this season. I found it surprising they let Esther off the hook. I kind of liked Max, and was hoping he'd last a while.

The only likable judge is the big guy.

The bald judge really annoys me. If I were a contestant on that show, I would never willingly make Itallian food. He's the epitome of a food snob and when it comes to Italian food, it ramps up x10.The Indian lady made a curried lamb last week that looked outstanding. Some of these people know how to cook pretty well.

After having worked every day with lawyers for the last five years, I laughed out loud the second they gave Esther the choice to take the bullet for her poor leadership or to throw two teammates under the bus. I knew that she - like every lawyer in the world - would forgo the opportunity to be a responsible, stand-up person and instead rationalize that the rules allowed her to save herself, so why not do it, and that in her mind the other two were the worst people and so deserved to be eliminated and so she's only being logical to excuse herself. Also, that single mom is bat#### crazy. I won't miss Max though - he had a lot of attitude for not a lot of demonstrated ability. Two nights ago, I loved watching the judges retch over some of the coffee desserts.

 max aka Trump Jr needed to stick around a while longer. if for no other reason than to stir things up a bit. the kid has talent just not the experience to know what is genius and what is horrific.

:goodposting:But it was good to keep the bat#### crazy single Mom too... again, it should have been Esther gone. She has no personality and hasn't been particularly impressive in her cooking, either.

Yeah, if I am Esther, I would make sure never to find myself alone with crazy mom in the pantry. Two went in--one came out.

I thought he made things a little more interesting too...which is why I like this show even more now. I got into it last week.It seems like the judges are actually fully going off of who makes the best food in their decisions, not who, if s/he sticks around, is good for ratings. And that in turn, if the audience picks up on it, is good for ratings.

I don't understand how she not only got out of the challenge, she got to pick who was in it. She was the team "leader", she failed the most.

I know who Ramsey is and I know who Elliot is, but who is the doosh nozzle? He really adds little from a culinary perspective. On occasion he will give guidance, but not often.

Was it supposed to be new last night? My DVR said Top 9 compete, and recorded 4 minutes of the President's speech. Then, the DirecTV guide changed to Top 10 compete, and when it cut back in, it was playing last week's episode. Did they push it back, or what?

Which one was suppose to play last night, Top 10 or Top 9? Nothing recorded for me. Next week's scheduled ep says Top 9. Is that the right one?

Really wanted that Suzy beotch to go home last night. Nothing is ever her fault, even though she continually loses the team challenges for her team. All she could do last night was blame Adrian for giving her a bad cut of pork. And she never closes her mouth. I want to punch her every time she is on screen.

:goodposting: I laughed out loud when she suggested the blonde chick was "skating by" because she's been doing the same for a while now. Waiting for a teammate to through her under the bus.

The raw pork on the simplest cut of meat to cook saved her. I was hoping she'd be tossed as well.

Christian is bugging me more and more every episode
:goodposting: Is he is big dooshbag, but he has to be the favorite to win this thing. He's shown the most ability out of all that's left. Mad Hatter Ben in a darkhorse, he has the talent but occasionally goes goofy and screws up a challenge. I would think they would be the final two. Adrian can cook too, but he's way too inconsistent like the rest. Girl next door Tracy is quietly getting through with little fanfare, she may be in the final three.

Yeah. I'm hoping that Ben pulls it out. He and Tracey are just about the only likable ones left.

The thing with the kids tonight was stupid, but the second half was interesting enough, even if you saw the Christian thing coming a mile away.

He he has to he the overwhelming favorite. I can't even tell who #2 would be.

The guy with the piercings? Can't think of his name but he has been pretty strong. I would agree though that Christian is way out in front at this point. He really has to screw up horribly at this point to lose it. Serve something raw that kind of thing. I think he'd survive having an ordinary off night at this point.

I still enjoy the show, but two things are really starting to bother me:

1) The product placement in the show has moved over into the ridiculous category. Every show it's "She's using this special MasterChef knife" and in 5 minutes "Get your MasterChef knife today!" or it's whatever the kids thing was last night, or cookbooks, or whatever. It's never ending. I mean, I know they're doing this for money reasons, but come on. It's a little much.

2) I can see the ending a mile away, and when it happens, I might not watch the show anymore, because it will tell me it's all scripted:

The final two is going to be Christian and Ben Star. Ben seems very unlikely right now, but he has that whole "American Idol" nobody sees him coming underdog thing going on. Christian will be the odds on favorite, but as the "Bad Boy", there's no way he can win. They can't market him. Nobody would buy that cookbook. Ben Star is going to win. Mark it, dude.

I like Ramsey's British shows. It's kind of sad that to be entertaining for a U.S. audience he has to be a #### all the time.
I was just saying that yesterday. I think it's telling the differences in the way the shows are handled. I learn a lot more from the British version of his shows, here it's mostly drama.
