Week 5 Waiver Wire Watch (post wk4) (1 Viewer)

The previous thread is full of a lot unnecessary speculation and excitement posted before Week 4 games. A lot to comb through to find anything useful. Very confusing.

So, now that week 4 games are played (minus Monday Night), who are you targeting?

Wright seems interesting, but too concerned about a flash in the pan

Royal also, but we've seen this before

Royal has been a tease since his denver days. I'm not real sold on him. Although, if SDs offense is gonna look like this with Woodhead and matthews out, he may have value

Thank you VERY much for supplanting that thread with unnecessary and continuous bumps for a more appropriate one.

Guys I'm looking at for potential Week 5 Waiver Wire bidding, if not outright targeting:

WR Marvin Jones, CIN

QB Brian Hoyer, CLE (for QB flex, 2 QB leagues)

RB Denard Robinson, JAX

WR John Brown, ARI

WR Allen Robinson, JAX

WR Davante Adams, GB

Taken in my league, but Michael Vick looks like a good pre-emptive guy to target.

I go deep, so excuse me if some of these seem like reaches.

GB - R. Rodgers - Quarless put up a goose egg and proved he's not a move TE. Rodgers is and worth looking at.

CAR - D. Reaves - Going to be a starting RB for at least 1 week, worth rostering everywhere.

NYJ - J. Amaro - seeing more and more targets on a weekly basis (and converting on them), could emerge in a talent deficient NYJ corps

TB - ASF/L. Murphy - I have a sneaking suspicion it's going to be ASF who steps up in Evans's abscense. Dude is an abolsulte freak and is just getting over his foot injury. Murphy also saw 11 targets which is kind of nuts.

OAK - A. Holmes - Got his chance with Streater out for and extended period of time and Moore benched. Turned 12 targets into a 5/74/1 stat line.

JAC - C. Harbor - Over an injury and Bortles targets him 8 times (secured 8 for 69). Hard to recommend JAC players but in TE premium leagues may be worth a look.

SD - B. Oliver - If he's still available he may be worth a look for as long as Mathews is out. He looked much better than Brown vs. JAC.

JAC - D. Robinson - Out snapped Gerhart and gets more work in the passing game. Decent stash although again, JAC isn't a team I'd turn to for fantasy value.

SF - S. Johnson - Stevie can still ball and now Davis is banged up again. Crabtree also isn't the picture of perfect health himself.

MIN - J. McKinnon - Has infinite gears.

MIN - J. Wright - Has an obvious connection with Teddy.

NO - T. Cadet - I have no idea why he took over P. Thomas's role last night but it's a valuable role in PPR.

Bortles is another guy I am looking at as my second QB. May have to deal with some turnovers, but he's going to put up some numbers having to throw the ball a lot. And for dynasty/keeper purposes, he's a good stash.

In my league im going for Crowell and Hawkins. Feel weird going for two Browns but they both have significant value.

I considered going for Cadet, but I'm going to give him another week before I drop Pierre Thomas. Would love to drop Donnell, since he's my backup to Julius, but he has too much value to ditch.

Reaves could be a decent target, but I don't see him as more than a desperation play. That backfield is going to be muddy when it's all healthy

Bortles has been mentioned here. He intrigues me. I'm overall a big fan, and he's going yo be throwing a lot. He could be a low end qb1 by the end of the season. Not sure if this is the week to bite on him or not

Any FAAB suggestions on McKinnon?

I take it a lot of folks think that Asiata will hold the job down and McKinnon will be a COP for the rest of the year, I think that helps keep the price down. So does TB maybe being hurt for TNF, plus it's TNF and folks are looking for bye starters while he's still a backup, and he is still a somewhat unknown name. The factor pushing up the price is his big game.

Also going for:

J. Wright

Trade for:

Forsett

Moreno

Roethlisberger

Also if no one has mentioned Prater, they should. Top flight kicker returning to action.

Many fantasy football websites keep saying that Asiata is a plodder and that McKinnon *should* take over. personally I don't see Minnesota deviating from how they used the two guys this past week (of course Atlanta's mediocre day at defense helped).

Forsett and Reaves for RB

Hurns was dropped in my league and could be a good add since Shorts is hurt.

I think the time for Antone Smith is coming. He's making too many explosive plays to limit him to 4 touches a game. A preemptive grab and stash could be in order for redrafts. Steven Jackson is on his last legs and whether he's injured or not, he is has been ineffective.

Hoyer has been largely overlooked but he's a good call.

He's coming off the BYE.

He hasn't thrown a pick this year or had a turnover.

TE Jordan Cameron has had a week to rest his shoulder and should be healthy(ier) going forward.

WR Andrew Hawkins has stepped-up and was third in the league for targets before the BYE.

WR Miles Austin is healthy and he has had touchdown grabs his last two games and is starting to heat up.

RB Ben Tate comes back and he is the Browns best receiving RB.

The two rookie RBs, Isaiah Crowell and Terrance West, have had to learn on the run in the passing game but they are slowly starting to come around so the running backs should start to contribute in the passing attack more.

And don't forget Brian Hoyer suffered his ACL injury right around this time last year and he was/is still recuperating and has shown signs of getting better and stronger. He is coming off his best quarterback passer rating game of his career and currently is ranked in the top-ten in the NFL for QB passer rating.

I don't know if he's ready to bust-out but I think he is slowly creeping up into a decent 2nd tier fantasy QB with little fanfare.

Do you guys think Eddie Royal is for real? Hawkins is out there due to bye weeks, but he has yet to find the end zone.

Disagree.

The Falcons' problem is their defense, not the offense and the coaches' dedication to SJax seems unwavering. This past week he missed a TD by six inches and is appearing stronger each week.

While Smith has had a couple big plays this year, he also lost a fumble early in the game against Tampa.

SJax is not the RB of his Rams' days but IMO he still has a vice grip on the starting role and, barring injury, I'm not seeing Smith having any value this year in redraft.

I am intrigued by Cadet in N.O. Anyone know what happened to Pierre Thomas? Also, does anyone have any insight on the Seattle TE situation?

Steven Jackson is still pushing piles out of the way...he's not anywhere close to being done...just getting his lungs underneath him like El Gronko

I've had Cadet for several years now. Pretty confident there is nothing to see here. He'll tease ya with a handful of catches, but he doesn't touch the field enough to be worthy of a roster spot.

Anyone else think Zach Miller's injury is a great opportunity for Luke Wilson to grab the TE job and run with it?
Wilson's measurables are outstanding but I don't know if running away with the TE job in SEA really even represents all that much value.

Agreed but no RB on that team has the ability to beat defenses to the perimeter like Smith. I have no idea why this guy is near 30 and has never gotten work but he's already doubled his touches from last year. If they ever decide to give him ~10 touches a game he may be worth grabbing although you'll admittedly be trying to catch lightning in a bottle. Still, the eye test, he passes it.

There's a very good chance 2014 Eddie Royal will end up like 2013 Eddie Royal. The pace is just unsustainable in that offense. I hope people don't chase points again.

The Saints staff has always loved Cadet, they view him as a receiver really and I think the idea was he had a better chance to take one to the house. The Saints keep pushing Cadet and Josh Hill like they are the next Sproles/PT and Graham (no).

Take it FWIW but I am hearing from someone that would know that Michael Vick will start next week. Again it's unsubstantiated beyond a guy that usually knows things like this with the Jets, but I thought I'd pass it along nonetheless.

He must know more than Rex does since Rex already said that Geno is still his guy.

I don't doubt it at all and would be surprised if Vick started myself. But I threw it out there in the event someone wanted to make a move

Rex has been pretty adamant about it. Plus, Vick wouldn't be any better.

Vick won't start, but if Geno stinks up the joint again in the early going on Sunday, I could easily see them make the move.

I think Vick would take care of the ball better than Geno, if nothing else. The turnovers are the biggest thing killing the team right now.

Who doesn't know more than Rex does? ;) Since I'm planning on using the Chargers defense in both my leagues, I'm assuming that MCguidance is correct.

Fozzy Whitaker in PPR. Could at least be servicable if he gets 10 - 15 touches and 5 of those being receptions.
