What was your biggest regret/mistake from your drafts? (1 Viewer)

Mine was in a Yahoo league a week ago. We only had 90 seconds in between picks. Ben Tate fell to the 7th round and I totally missed him on the board. Killed the rest of the draft.

I was in a slow draft best ball league and needed a 2nd TE. It was the morning after the Kelce score that put him on the map and he was available. Even after seeing the highlight the night before I had a brain fart and drafted Jared Cook. I should have finished my coffee. Next guy took Kelce.

Our league favors qbs and wrs - I had pick 4. In the first three picks it went Charles, Manning and Rodgers. I talked myself into taking Brees to not miss out on a QB. Okay, not terrible....but swung back around to 2.9 and I took a rb. That followed by two more rbs.

Going into the draft I KNEW I needed good WRs to compete. Now I am loaded at QB and RB, but my WR corps is Jeffery, Harvin and....Hilton. Screwed myself by not following my plan and in this league, without 2 stud WRs I will be an also ran.

Selected crabtree over andre basically cuz im a 49er fan. Selected sjax over pt cruiser and mjd as my third string rb

Passed on Doug Martin at 3.10 for fear that Gronk would be gone at 4.2.

No way to prove it, but I think Gronk would have still been there and Martin/Gronk looks much better than Gronk/Spiller on paper. Especially when my RBs are my weak link.

wtf is wrong with those wrs? My wrs are vjax, crabtree, and benjamin. Id rather have jeffrey than all of them.

I am counting on Jay Cutler. FML

As my roster currently stands, due to bye weeks, I will be forced to star Dwayne Bowe at least 2 weeks at either WR or Flex.

My starters: Cutler/Shady/Gio/Jordy/Roddy/Cooks (flex)/Rudolph are ok, but my bench sucks.

1. Never got a third QB in two qb league... spent that pick on Cousins as I got RG3 in the mid 4th (around guys like Eli, Palmer, Smith) which was, imo, good value with huge upside and a lot of risk. There were so few viable options from QB #22-28 really, and after that it's true backups with upside and absolute dreck starting QBs, that I never saw any value.

2. As I almost aways end up doing, taking a chance at WR. Waited until the 5th Round in the 2QB league - Usually need to get 2 QBs with your first three picks, and HAVE to within your first 4-5 generally speaking, and RBs presented more value when I was up (Lacy early/mid second, Lacy mid/late third when I knew I could get RGIII or Big Ben after the turn). That said, Roddy White, E. Sanders and Brandin Cooks / Jordan Matthews / Greg Jennings is not exactly stellar.

BTW, where have you gone, Greg Jennings? Last year was way up on my do not draft list. This year I got him twice, in the 13th and 14th rounds, respectively. Now, I don't expect Jerry Rice, but man has he just gone off the ledge.

I have a really stacked team in a six man dynasty league. Charles and Lacy are my RB's.

We only roster 14 position (QB,RB, WR, TE) players in our small league (start 1 QB, 2RB, 2 WR, 1TE, 1D, 1K) and I only drafted 1 solid veteran to complement this potential championship squad with the rest being young, high upside dynasty guys who may not contribute if I have a starter(s) go down. Believe I may have left my depth thin and it could kill me.

Kept:

QB: Ryan

QB: Foles

RB: Charles

RB: Lacy

WR: Keenan Allen

TE: Julius Thomas

Drafted:

RB: Carlos Hyde

RB: Christine Michael

TE: Ladarius Green

WR: Mike Wallace

QB: Blake Bortles

WR: Reuben Randle

WR: Cecil Shorts

RB: Benny Cunningham

Wallace is the only main contributor I drafted and my bench is really thin for this year. Tough structured league I'll tell ya'.

My best guess is that the perception is that the Vikings won't have a very good passing game, yet somehow Patterson will be a monster -- which leaves no room for Jennings, no matter how well he did with Cassell last year.

I'm not sure this is entirely rational, but it seems to be the thinking. I say grab him late and profit.

Wouldn't surprise me at all to see him neck and neck with Patterson as the year developed.

I went over my draft and given the choices I had, I wouldn't change a thing. In 4 weeks from now, that could and probably will change.

i took jay cutler OVER tom brady. I had to shower after. I just think cutler has amazing upside but hes friggin flaky. I backed him up with wilson who i also love this year.

I've actually heard Jennings could lead the team in catches. Was thinking about dropping Reuben Randle or Benny Cunningham for him given how my draft shook out. Not any long term upside but could be valuable this year. Plus, they'll get better QB play this year than last.

He certainly seems more in line with a "traditional #1" WR, even in today's new NFL. When I see a #1 on a team that will run a ton and set up some deep balls, that's a cheap opportunity for a reasonable amount of receptions with upside there, and a chance for some long tds, with more upside there.

ETA: Although he was my 5th WR taken, a good chance he starts week one (he or B. Cooks. Will answer yours. :coffee: )

Actually, I did the same; Brady was still on the board. I had a "WTF did I just do?" moment right after announcing my pick. Brady went a few picks later, then the backup QBs started flying off the board. I waited & ended up w/ Carson Palmer, who plays vs Dallas week 9 (Cutler's BYE). I think I'll regret taking Cutler over Brady; I just hope it doesn't end in utter disaster.

I passed on both Hyde and Hill who was high on my board to Draft Richard TE for Green Bay. It's a TE premium league but I think Richard would have been available on my next turn.

Getting Reggie Bush. Zac Stacy, Arian Foster, LeVeon Bell were all available. Stacy in Bell both in more secure roles. I over thought this one based on the league being PPR. I thought he was the safest pick, I don't feel terrible about it but I am just dreaming. I took PThomas with my next pick, who I feel will actually give me more value.

Going QB-WR-RB, because my best RB ended up being Ryan Mathews. The upside is I have Drew Brees, and the league values QB's so much he's like having an extra RB on your roster most of the time, and tends to hit escalators. But RB depth is a HUGE concern, and I may have to trade my top WR (Julio Jones) to try and get a better RB.

drafted Thomas over Gronk. Gronk injury history scared me away. I now i missed out on Gronk mania.

I drafted from a phone app while I was on the beach. I should have stayed in the hotel and drafted from my computer. It was terrible. I estimate that I gave up 5-10% equity in the league by not having everything in front of me.

But you've now got a killer tan.

Some nice sleeper WRs in the 10th-12th that I missed out on as I waited on QB. One guy, Markus Wheaton was someone I really wanted in the WR4/5 area for a high upside flex guy, maybe things go even better. Everyone has a guy or two like this on their board and I found many of mine were there in those rounds and I wish I could have grabbed a couple more of them.

Don't know your RBs but your WRs seem a-ok.

9th round of a Yahoo draft, I was wavering between a couple guys. Finally settled on Russell Wilson, went to click the button, and the timer went off.

It gave me a defense by default.

The DETROIT defense.

With only SEA, NE, and SF off the board at that point.

Don't feel great about QB in my 14 team 3 player keeper PPR league.

Almost took Foles at 2.06 (equates to 5.06 because of keepers) but I decided to wait on QB on grabbed Andre Johnson as my WR2.

I wanted Wilson but settled for Romo a number of rounds later.

OK with it, but panicked a few rounds later and backed him up with Tannahill.

Yeah, my wide receivers should be so screwed.

Not a BIG one, but in my dynasty rookie/FA draft, Sam Bradford got hurt right before my second round pick, so I jumped on Shaun Hill instead of taking Jonathon Stewart. Problem is these are my RBs & QBs -

1. Cam

2. Palmer

1. Spiller

2. Toby Gerhart

3. Run-DMC

Fortunately only 1 RB start is mandatory, but I definitely should have rolled the dice on Stewart instead.

I should've drank more
Yes, me too apparently. Auction draft and I believe I was too conservative. I have a solid roster top to bottom, but not enough heavy hitters. A little more alcohol and maybe I would've cut loose of the purse strings and splurged on a couple more top tier players.

I play in a 6pt passing td non ppr league. 12 teamer and I had the 11th pick. I should have went graham followed by a wr or rb--but instead went graham and then brees. I didn't expect brees to be available there as the top tier qb's almost always go in the top ten pick with 6pt passing tds--and I couldn't resist. Now, I feel like my team is weak at the rb and wr positions. uggh.

Not buying into Andre Johnson this year like i did last year... wish i had.

Sankey over J.Bell in two leagues.

Thought I could predict, or start the run on kickers and took Gostowski a full 3 rounds before anyone else took a kicker.

Overall I'm happy with my drafts. If I had to nitpick myself, I'm slightly worries that I passed in Patterson at 4.04 and took gronk instead. Normally if gronk was healthy is be ecstatic about that pick but his health has me concerned. But when he fell to me in the 4th rd I couldn't resist.

In 2 of my FPC drafts, runs on TE and QB respectively left me with crap ....in league 1: I got Dwayne Allen and Richard Rodgers as my TEs and in the other league I got Dalton; Palmer; Locker; Flacco and Cassell at QB...I picked 5 QBs to play match ups.....I have awesome WRs, RBs and TEs so just need to patch up some top 10 QB production.....hopefully Dalton repeats last years production

Spending any draft pick on Lamar Miller after watching him hesitate on every run last year. My gut had him on a do not draft list but I fell into the trap of the "value" he presented late. Lesson: he is who I thought he was.

Only had $20 max bid and a $29 total budget (out of $200) in a keeper league auction. Only player I wanted was K Benjamin, figured I could sneak him in mid draft and take him for $20. He sold for $21 to someone else. Lesson: nominate the one or two players you really want early when people are still tight with their dollars.

Not having Tom Brady on any of my teams. He seems to be primed for a HUGE year, and something tells me he's going to try and reclaim the passing TD record that Peyton took from him last year. I just couldn't seem to stop clicking on Cutler, Romo, and RGIII when it was time to snag my 1st QB.

Waited way too long to get a QB in an auction draft. I was getting killer value on the other positions and I figured that backup QBs would go for $3 like usual. Nope. People were paying $8-$10 for backup QBs.. in a 12-team league with 4/TD & 1/25 passing scoring. I said nuts to that and just kept stockpiling upside/sleepers in other positions, figuring I'd eventually get someone in the QB18 range for a few bucks and maybe work a trade later.

Now I'm starting Eli Manning. And I was left with $5 at the end anyway... could have easily just paid the ~$10 or whatever to get someone like Kaep. And now nobody is admitting their mistake in spending so much on a backup QB and are treating them like gold, and I would have to give up a ton of value to upgrade.

On the plus side, NYG has the 3rd easiest pass defense schedule and a huge percentage of Eli's INT last year were not his fault.

That has been my only really big mistake in 9 drafts so far so I'm in pretty good shape (I hope).
