Why do rich people drive? He can pay for a driver and a limo. Take his license away, one and done is what I say. Drive while drunk once you deserve to never drive again seeing as how "Don't Drink and Drive" is a well known rule in society and life.

Every person who gets arrested for a DUI ever - "Gee officer I was hammered and knew I shouldn't drive but I was trying to sneak home without getting pulled over or kill someone, I will never do it again, even though I knew I should have never done it in the first place because this would happen."

Can Goodell suspend Irsay, or in a roundabout way, his employer?

Also, can we talk about the kind of shirt he was wearing? Are we sure he didn't get arrested for his fashion sense?

I'm not sure if you can hear me up that high on your horse but what exactly is Goodell going to suspend Irsay from, owning the team?

I think everybody knew all those crazy tweets at 2-3am were alcohol fueled. Irsay is only 54?? looks 70 in that mugshot. It amazes me that anybody would drive drunk after 2am, let alone a guy who can afford a limo anytime he wants.

Came back in just to post the same thing...I have never seen someone so well off look so grizzled. Yeah, and BS on the sober for over 15 years...not only the Twitter behavior, but also the fact that no sober 54 year-old looks like that.

Who cares? NFL players get DUI's every year and punishment is minimal or not at all (Marshawn Lynch).

People make mistakes, the media just likes to blow things up since he is billionaire. He probably should have hired a driver, but no way Goodell will do anything to this guy for a DUI. Cops hand those out like tickets now-a-days.

Yeah, well the 4 felony possession counts for having Schedule IV narcotics without a prescription might be a problem for him.

Meh all the good drugs are schedule I & II. May get into some trouble for the counts above, but prob nothing more than some prescription pills.

Not all. There are some great ones that are IVs.

From Twitter:

Jim Irsay took "being part of the team" to another level

Yeah, people like Irsay don't do time.

Wow... can you imagine the "THUG" cries if ~10% of the NFL's players were arrested on drug charges and/or involved in massive fraud?

There must be some difference between the owners (Irsay, Wilf, Haslam) and the players to have such disproportionate coverage in the press -- but I just can't figure out what it white be.

So you think it is OK and acceptable to drink and drive? Good to know. Didn't know being against it put me on a high horse, but OK. Its FBG so I expect people getting furious over someone having an opinion. However, I was being kinda sarcastic with the can he suspend Irsay seeing as how he is all over Blackmon and works for Irsay. Sorry you are having a bad day.

Depends if he is cool with the judges in town. A guy like Irsay may have made some enemies in the legal system, who knows? I know the coke and crack will screw over anyone in the public and legally to some regard. He may get little to no time but his pocket will be lighter for sure, that is punishment in itself for guys who have to spend 250K for a lawyer and even more for fines and court costs. No matter how rich you are rich people hate seeing money go.

Source describes Jim Irsay as “a sick, sick man”Posted by Darin Gantt on March 17, 2014, 12:58 PM EDT

Getty ImagesColts owner Jim Irsay hasn’t bailed out of jail yet, and already word is creeping out about what has apparently been a long and losing fight with drug addiction.

According to Bob Kravitz of the Indianapolis Star, Irsay’s arrest for driving under the influence and four counts of drug possession was a “sad inevitability” to those close to him.

He’s a sick, sick man,” one source told Kravitz. “He desperately needs help.”

Those around Irsay had been leaning on him in recent years to get help, or at least get a driver. But even as he withered physically, he resisted the suggestion anything was wrong.

He lost 70 pounds, down to 165, but explained it away by saying his doctor wanted him to lose weight to take the pressure off his bad back.

Kravitz paints the picture of a man very much in denial, and enabled by the many people he employed.

But it’s becoming clear that Irsay’s bizarre Twitter ramblings, which are easy to make fun of (trust us, we know), are also a hint at some of the issues he was dealing with, which are deeper than anyone was willing to admit or confront before he was arrested.

The NFL would be better served making sure he gets help for what seems like a serious problem, than ensuring he gets the proper punishment.

Yes, and other owners have been forced from team activities before for some part of time. DeBartolo too? Hmmmm, so what can Goodell do? Stop him from being around his team. Guess so since commishes have done it before.

DeBartolo was involved in the corruption case of former Louisiana governor Edwin Edwards. DeBartolo pleaded guilty to a charge of failing to report a felony, and received a $1 million fine and two years of probation in return for his testimony against Edwards. Edwards was on trial for extortion and other charges, among which were the $400,000 he demanded from DeBartolo to gain a river boat casino license. DeBartolo never received the license, was fined by the NFL, and barred from active control of the 49ers for one year.

As a secondary issue, there's now the question of what commissioner Roger Goodell will do once he collects all the pertinent information. I can promise you the NFL Players Association will watch this closely. Will the commissioner come down as hard on Irsay as he does the league's players? In 2010, Detroit Lions president Tom Lewand drew a 30-day suspension, $100,000 fine and performed community service after pleading guilty to driving while impaired. It wouldn't shock me if Goodell suspends or metes out some sort of harsh punishment against Irsay.

Lewand wasn't the guy driving naked, was he?

But DeBartolo never did regain control as a practical matter, did he?

Is there another Irsay in the wings after Jr.?

A source tells the Indy Star that Colts owner Jim Irsay is a "sick, sick man" that "desperately needs help."
According to the Star, Colts insiders have known for years that Irsay was struggling with drugs and have been trying to get him into rehab. He's recently lost 70 pounds. Everything came to a head on Sunday night as Irsay was arrested on preliminary charges of driving under the influence and felony counts of possession of a controlled substance. Mandatory professional help will almost certainly be part of the hammer brought down by Roger Goodell after this case makes it way through the courts.

Wow... can you imagine the "THUG" cries if ~10% of the NFL's players were arrested on drug charges and/or involved in massive fraud?

There must be some difference between the owners (Irsay, Wilf, Haslam) and the players to have such disproportionate coverage in the press -- but I just can't figure out what it white be.
Prejudice much? I think it's more of an elite vs non-elite thing rather than white vs black. Really man?

Punishment handed down from Goodell.

Indianapolis must trade Andrew Luck for Geno Smith.

That will teach him.

Actually, KellysHeroes' post got me to thinking about this. Each NFL franchise is worth $1.0 billion on average according to Forbes, with the Colts at $1.2 billion. Valuations increased 5% last year so if you assume that appreciation rate is constant, the Colts will be worth $1.26 billion in one year. Or $164,383 in appreciation per day. So if Irsay is fined $100,000, he still would be worth more when he walks out of jail than when he went in.*

*Does not include: legal fees, negative public stigma, possibility of being forced to sell team, shortened lifespan due to risky lifestyle, Trent Richardson trade setting team back for years, etc, etc.

You're right. I turned FOX News on just now and they were talking about the "Gangster Culture" in the NFL as a result of the owners' recent indiscretions.

Or not.
