"The Voice" , new singing talent search show (1 Viewer)

Judith was eliminated? What show is America (and you guys) watching? She was by far the best singer and performer with Sasha second. People are crazy.
Sasha wasn't very good Monday night imo. And I do agree that Judith just doesn't seem to connect. That said, she shouldn't have gone home this early.

Team Adam took a BIG hit tonight. Lost 2 of this 3 contestants. Usher & Shakira both down to 1. Blake Shelton is sitting on top with all 3 of his contestants left in the competition. Did you all see Adam's reaction at the end of the show. With a stunned face you could see him mouth, "What".
I swear I heard Adam say, "I hate this country" right after Judith was eliminated. Going to check the DVR.

Guess I heard correctly...it's all over the Internets.

Testing predictive power of Itunes voting: All eight are on the Top 100 now, voting closes in half hour. Lowest are Sasha and Judith. That would be some elimination.
Judith has NO charisma whatsoever. She reminds me too much of the guy who won the second season (and heck, even the first): great voices, not much charisma, audience connection, or personality.
Yes, great singer, but didn't connect, came off a little diva-ish, so didn't get the votes

iTunes was one for two. Sarah was #5 on the chart. IIRC, the order was Danielle, Michelle, Amber, Swons, Sarah, Holly, Sasha, Judith

Yes, I heard that last night also. He didn't seem to happy last night with the results.

Yeah he didn't seem all that happy. But these shows have shown time and time again that the best don't always win.

Friggin' country music... there's no getting away from it on these singing shows. Country music voters just flood the ballots.

I hope Michelle wins this.

Not really. How many country singers have won on AI and the Voice? 2-3 maybe?

I can think of 3:

1. Tate Stevens - X Factor

2. Scotty Mcreary - American Idol

3. Carry Underwood - American Idol

I didn't watch the Carry Underwood season of American Idol so I don't know if she sang country or not or was considered country during her season.

I can't remember if there are any others.

Country artists have won the shows, but I can't remember any show (without a specifically country theme) having anything close to 4 of 6 finalists coming from the genre. Michelle and Sasha are the only choices now for non-country fans.

If I had to rank who I think should win, it would be

Michelle

Danielle

Sasha / Amber

Swon Bros.

Holly

I thought Swon and Holly should have been the ones going home, but Sara and Judith would be occupying their spots on my list of that were the case.

I like the way Michelle connects with her songs. Danielle is just amazingly talented and pulls off her songs seemingly effortlessly. Sometimes I think that works against her, though, and as she gets older she will earn how to put more of herself into what she is singing.

Amber and Sasha are both very good, but I feel like some of their performances are a little more forced.

The Swon brothers are the least vocally talented of who is left.

Holly and Amber are almost interchangeable, but Holly just slightly less talented IMO.

Michelle Chamuel did great again last night.

Since they are only sending 1 home tonight I think it will be Holly Tucker.

Gotta be Holly or the Swon Brothers going home tonight.

Back to last week for a min, Adam screwed up royally in his song choice for Judith. Terrible song for her especially since she was leading off the show. Needed something memorable and that wasn't close. He did the same thing with Amanda last year when she got eliminated.

Amber continues to blow me away. It feels like folks stop breathing when she sings, especially in that Adele song she did. I hope she wins!

Danielle>Amber>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Michelle>>>>Sasha>>>>Swon Brothers>>>>Holly

I know there is a lot of love for Michelle, but I feel like people are hyping her too much because she is a weird girl making good. Being judged a lot on how far she has come as a person more so than her voice. She alright, but not better than Danielle or Amber. One of those two should win this IMO.

Michelle reminds me of Nick. He was a tree hugger and she's a nerd. They are different, you don't find any singers out there like them and there are a lot of geeks and tree huggers rooting for them for that reason. So I predict Michelle will get to the top 2 but won't win it all, just like Nick. I really liked Nick and was rooting for him. This season I'm all Amber.

We're for Amber all the way in this household. If there's anything she can't sing, they sure haven't found it yet. And while Danielle (whom we also like) gets all the attention for being just 16, Amber is only 20.

I like Michelle because she can make the songs she sings her own.

How the hell is Michelle still on this show and closing it out and Judith is at home?? She's not good.
Michelle is good. The time after time tune she did was great! She is like Nick. Usher said why she is still there: she can be herself (ie, her dress, glasses, quirkygeeky look). No one ever thought Nick would make it as far as he did but he did. He had a great voice AND he was different than the garden of singers out there where someone looks and sounds like someone else. There are a ton of nerds and geeks who are great singers but they aren't picked up by a label because they don't have the 'star' stereotype look.

I'm rooting for Michelle and Amber to be the top 2.

Michelle is more relatable than Judith. Plus, Judith's mom looks like a demon from an asian horror movie.

I don't know why you think it's rare for a nerdy type to be on a record label. There are a lot of music geeks on labels, as well as "tree huggers" like you mentioned in a earlier posting.

They have. But previously, like Adam, I knew few of their songs, but knew both of these very well. So, they have country elements ( I know the Anne Murray version of Danny's Song, too, though prefer L&M), but they speak tto a broader audience.

Do the performances even matter at this point? I've never voted before on one of these shows but I would imagine those that do at this point vote for the same person each week.

Do two get voted out tonight with the finals being the 3 remaining contestants?

Let's look at some of the songs they have sung. A lot of people know "Seven Bridges Road" from The Eagles, and "Okie from Muskogee" is a very popular old school country song by Merle Haggard, as is "Who's Gonna Fill Their Shoes" by George Jones. They also did "American Girl" by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. "Fishin' in the Dark" by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band was a popular track back in the 80s. "Wagon Wheel" was made popular by the americana/bluegrass/folk band Old Crow Medicine Show about 10 years ago, and recently redone by Darius Rucker. They did a nice country spin on Dobie Gray's "Drift Away". They also did a nice duet with Sasha on "Don't You Wanna Stay" by Kelly Clarkson and Jason Aldean. Last night they covered Bob Seger and Loggins & Messina. They've done a nice job of keeping their country sound, but picking a variety of songs that also mix country with other genres or sub-genres.

Unbelievable. Freaking country fans.

Nick was great though. If anyone figures out how to buy his ep without going through iTunes, please let me know.

Swon Brothers, meh.
They're going to win. They've been the last name announced during elimination every time, which is a neat trick to make it seem like they're barely making it. :tinfoilhat:

Definitely the most marketable in this day and age. Good kids, funny, talented, white.

Umm...Danielle and the Swon Bros are probably the two best on the show as far as consistently good.

Michelle is quirky odd which is why she is still around.

Sasha was overrated...and Amber screwed up by trying that Katie Perry song.

Started out just thinking they were some gimmick to be funny and were pretty good...but they have been delivering great performances week in and week out.

Her lower register is garbage, and she exposed that weakness in that performance.

I think it's pretty dumb for 2 brothers to use backup singers in a singing competition. Is having an extra voice not enough of an advantage?

Yeah, that Firework performance was brutal. I think the background singer was off too, which didn't help.

You're right IMO; the backing vox were all over the place. But Katy Perry can't sing that song live well either; it's a studio-only number. Choosing it was a serious mistake and a real shame, particularly since she did a wonderful job with Adam's Maroon 5 song. :( I'm hoping that Amber is like Jennifer Hudson and comes from a non-win to have a great career. I'll buy a record from her.

Well, of the 3 left in the finals (Michelle, Swon Bros, and Danielle), I like the Swan Bros. That Eagles song they did tonight was da bomb!

I agree I really enjoyed The Eagles song the Swon Brothers sang tonight. Very nice job. I was leaning in another direction before tonight but after that I have to seriously consider giving my votes to The Swon Brothers.
