Bowe arrested for speeding and weed...... (1 Viewer)

LOL. THere are just certain players you have to lock in a room when the bye week comes. Not one bit surprised. Big time self-perceived WR that is obviously bored and frustrated with his role on the team gets into trouble.

RIVERSIDE, Mo. — Riverside Police confirmed to FOX 4 Tuesday morning that an officer arrested Chiefs’ wide receiver Dwayne Bowe on Sunday for speeding and possession of marijuana.

While questioning the driver the Officer detected a strong odor of marijuana from inside of the vehicle.

One of the passengers, George A. Thompson, said the backpack belonged to him. Subsequent to his arrest for possession of a controlled substance, Thompson was searched and on his person two hand rolled cigarettes, containing what is believed to be 2.2 grams of marijuana were also found.

too bad he didnt get pulled over in colorado or washington
LOL.. I get the reference but I think the limit there is 1 gram per adult..He would still be busted.

But it brings up a question someone may already know the answer to. If it is legal in Colorado, does Peyton Manning still get suspended for doing Marijuana by the NFL if he got caught? Whose rules take priority?

Yeah he would, CBA over rules Da Law

sounds like Bowe was driving but maybe his homie will ultimately take the possession wrap.....short term I think Bowe keeps playing until found guilty of something then possible suspension....which may take awhile.....

part of me thinks Bowe already had a strike against him for something...?

i would assume if the league can banish Blackmon for teh alkoholz, they can get anyone for weed regardless of the legalities.

Well, from my bench to the Waiver Wire in redraft...but not sure about Dynasty.

How long til he's off the field and how long will he be out? Is this his first strike? How does KC handle this, esp with his huge contract?

Served a 4 game suspension a couple of years ago for the abuse of a different substance (I believe some performance enhancer).

His employer's.

Alcohol is legal - but I can't drink at work (even a beer at lunch).

I'm wondering why you choose to quote this part of the story? This part seems more incriminating.

Once out of the vehicle the Officer explained to the driver, who owned the vehicle, that he was a K-9 Officer and that the dog would alert to an illegal substance. Subsequently, inside of a black bag the officer discovered the wallet of the driver and vehicle owner, Dwayne L. Bowe, and two containers that had 6.6 grams and 3.8 grams respectively of what is believed to be marijuana in them.

he's already been suspended, which means he's in the program. He could be facing a year suspension, right?

anyways, I doubt he misses this week, but IMO it's doubtful he plays after week 12.

He probably smoked potent sativa/Haze ..hence the reason for speeding

I can only imagine how horrible the cannabis in Kansas City is

I can't even make sense of the NFL program. I'm sure there is a loophole. Is possessing drugs better than using them? could that matter in a possible suspension?

I would imagine he will be tested right away

No way everybody who tests positive for weed is suspended. The product would suck. But a possession charge that hits the news? Can't ignore that.

If he gets suspended I get an "injury" move to pick up a receiver with a pulse off of the waiver wire. :bye:

His suspension was for PEDs wasn't it? Not positive, but I think they are separate things. So this could be a first offense in the substance abuse program.

Dwayne Bowe was suspended in 2009 for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing drugs.

Bowe's Sunday night arrest on marijuana charges will fall under the league's substance-abuse policy. These are two separate issues, meaning he will not be considered a repeat offender unless there have been previous unreported transgressions. He has no prior arrests that we're aware of. Bowe has made himself a distraction ahead of the biggest game of the year for his 9-0 team, but we don't expect the NFL to step in. Any discipline will be up to coach Andy Reid and the Chiefs.

sounds like a non-issue for FF

They test for street drugs once a year, before training camp. All the players know the date and make sure not to smoke/shoot/snort for the appropriate interval beforehand.

I guess I never thought twice about them being separate issues. Are the punishments the same for PEDs? a second strike is a year long suspension?

He's been a non-issue for FF for the past 10 weeks...

A little confused here...why was Bowe charged with possession if the weed was found on the passenger - who also admitted it was his?

EDIT: I see...

"Subsequently, inside of a black bag the officer discovered the wallet of the driver and vehicle owner, Dwayne L. Bowe, and two containers that had 6.6 grams and 3.8 grams respectively of what is believed to be marijuana in them. Bowe was then placed under arrest for the possession of a controlled substance. The K-9 alerted to a black backpack and inside of that was found a container that had 4.2 grams of what is believed to be marijuana in it."
