Went to the Shore (1 Viewer)

SUPER ELITE UPPER TIER
After everything that the fam has been through this past couple months, we've decided to take a weekend down the Shore. Heading down Friday around noon and coming back Sunday early afternoon. It was all kind of last minute, so it's not ideal. But I'll take it.

We're staying in Wildwood (which I'm not a huge fan of, but  ) but will probably go to the Ocean City boardwalk at night. Hit the Wildwood boardwalk during the day. Besides laying on the beach and hitting Moorey's Pier, any suggestions? Any must see things that I'm out of the loop on? In the past, we usually spend a week in Stone Harbor and just do a lot of relaxing.

Temps are supposed to be high 70's (I hate this ####### summer  ) so there's that.

Are you planning on getting there at noon Friday or leaving from wherever you live at noon? Traffic heading down the Parkway on Fridays is a disaster so plan appropriately.

Yeah. Leaving at 1 most likely. Going down the back way. 55 I guess it is. I know it's going to be a mess, but have no other choice.

What shore? There's shores all over the place. How New York of you to assume everyone knows what you're talking about. This makes me very angry.

I don't know anything about The Shore and didn't really have anything to add except to say relax and have fun, TIS. Sounds like a much needed vacation.

One of the only (semi) bad things about this is that when my family came into town for the past 2 weeks, all we did was eat. And we ate A LOT! Cheesesteaks, pizza, cheesesteaks... I know people say this all of the time, but I literally gained almost 13 pounds during the two week visit. And while I'm still not obese, it's still a little sucky that I had to put on weight right before I get to go to the beach and take off my shirt in a crowd of people.

It's nice being a dad, though, because I think having that little extra weight is excused when they see you have a kid.

Cape May Zoo
Great suggestion here.

Also, eat a ton of funnell cake, kohrs ice cream, pizza, etc. and destroy the kids in arcade games (skeeball and racing are great for competing).

I also recommend party boat fishing. You can find one that goes out for 4 or 6 hours.

We did some parasailing there a few years ago. Its south of the boardwalk...forget exactly where but they'll know in the motel office. South of WW on Ocean Dr. Other than that, the kids should love the 2 amusement piers. Pretty sure you can get the "token" cards with special promotions.

We're staying at a friend's place. They have a small house down there they're letting us use for the weekend. My GF has been down already this year with them and said the place is a block off the Boardwalk right next to an amusement pier. Not the big Moorey's Pier, but a smaller one further up the BW.

I don't know if I could parasail. That looks terrifying.

So is Mack's pizza the best? Or does anyone here have a different opinion?

Looks like the plan will be pizza and the boardwalk tomorrow. Saturday will be beach, Cape May and maybe an actual semi-nice sit down dinner at a restaurant (apparently there's a place right up from us that overlooks the beach or something), and then beach and drive home on Sunday.

So excited. Wish we were going for a week, but it'll be good to get back down there at least once this season.

"...'cause we're stronger than the storm! Woah, oh, oh.... OH, oh, oh! YOU BET WE ARE!"

Also - if you are coming home Sunday the prime Window to leave is 3-6 or prior to 8am

I believe we are probably shooting for closer to 3 or 4. I would think 3-6 would be the worst with people trying to stretch out their last day at the beach, no?
