Decent chance to hold that job I think

It's a long season. 37% of a FAAB budget is a lot.
Agreed it was alot. Part of me wanted to bid in the 200 range but i didnt want to chance it. Soriano scares me as a 2nd closer. in this format, u need to compete in every category to have a chance at the big prize. And in the Saves dept, u need 3 legit closers IMO. I do think K-rod will hold this gig, a couple more saves i think he's locked into this role.

David Robertson to DL. Shawn Kelley is the add after a save Monday.
I saw some mention of a committee. Anyone else to roll the dice on in NY?
I picked up Thornton.

I literally have no idea what they'll do there, but he seemed to be as good of a candidate as any.
Kelley will be the main guy (although he's not available today after pitching the last two). I'd say Adam Warren would be next in line, but he's pitched the last two days too. I have no idea who will close today if needed. Maybe Girardi plays match-ups with Thornton and Phelps.

Also, it sounds like Robertson will only be out the 15 days.

For those asking, "closer by committee" means Doolittle, Gregerson, Otero, Cook. #Athletics

Anyone have guess on who from that list will be the guy to grab? Doolittle's a lefty, Cook just returned from the DL, so Gregerson?

I'd rank them Gregerson, Cook, Doolittle, Otero but I only have a 1 in 24 chance of being right.

Cook has superior stuff though and before the Johnson trade, was the projected closer. Gregerson also was very shaky when he had a chance to close in San Diego last year. I think they'll both get a look but Cook is the long-term guy IMO.

I've been holding Cook for almost two years in Serious Biz in hopes of this but I still think Johnson will end up back in the role.

Yeah, Johnson will go back into the role as soon as one or more of these guys fail. I am not a Gregerson fan, but think Cook could rattle off seven or eight straight saves. A's paying Johnson to close though, and we know how teams are about that, especially the low salary A's.

Anything to see with Mujica? Feels like 50/50 these shoulder tightness issues become much bigger.
If he's out there I'd absolutely stash him
drop Nova or Santos for him?

2 RP spots and other than Koji, my only options for saves will be Broxton and Santos, who is on borrowed time. Unless Koji is DLed by tomorrow, I have to drop someone?

Sounds like Santos has one more week of closing based on Janssen's current timetable.

So maybe drop Nova? We start 3 SP and I have Price, Gio, Cobb and Yordano, so I don't see myself using Nova any time soon.

oh with a 3 SP scenario I'd drop Nova in a second. I can't imagine him being snatched up. Again, purely speculative, but given how good and how important Koji was, at 39, I don't see how they DONT DL him. Even if its just 15 days retroactive, you don't want to mess around with shoulders. I saw on Fox that Koji said this felt similar to something he had in Texas that kept him out for multiple months.

icant get the AL version of Mujica out of my head, if the shoulder issue turns into something significant I would bet on Tazawa sooner rather than later.

This seems reasonable and well thought out. 51 poor innings as a youngster in 2007-08 should totally be the deciding factor here. Double the bid on Tazawa.

siiiiighI am still adding Mjuica, but I am finding room for both if I can.

Or continue to twist what I say into whatever fits your narrative picking a fight no one else cares to read other than you.

There was really no other way to 'twist' it.

Not twisting, nor am I picking a fight.

I read threads, contribute when I feel I have something to offer, and occasionally I call out people that are giving advice based on faulty logic. Not my fault that you happen to be the most frequent offender on the latter.

I have doubts about his game translating to the AL East after having success in the bigger parks of the NL. He is a one pitch pitcher and I dont think it is a Mariano Rivera caliber pitch. If the fly balls come back that is a major problem for a righty in tgat division.

If you have room for the plan b and missed on plan a then add him.

I have doubts about him too, but they are much more rooted in his second half collapse in 2013 than they are in his 2007-08 AL results.

Stop ####### arguing and tell me which of Tazawa or Mujica is worth my time. I'm leaning Tazawa.

If Koji is out for weeks and weeks, this is a nice closer to have.

Mujica likely will get the first crack and given its likely to be a short period of time, he has to be the first pickup.

I now have two Astros relief pitchers on my roster.

I don't understand how people say fantasy baseball is fun.

You need to get in a normal league, 12 or 13 teams. Cake is no fun because there are no free agents and you pick up guys like Delmon Young hoping he is good for four days. My home league is the most fun fantasy league I've ever been in, in any sport. And you know how I adore Uber.

Why do we have 16 in cake? There were like 7 people drafting that I've never even seen post here before.
