First swing mock draft - just to talk team needs and incoming talent (1 Viewer)

Like every year, I'm just learning who is who in terms of the potential incoming talent. To be honest, I don't watch much college football.

It's also a good time for homers to start talking about what they hope their teams do in the offseason.

So chime in, experts...who doesn't belong? Where should teams go from here?

Would LOVE Kevin White to the Browns, just like I would have loved Watkins or Evans there... He and Gordon... WOOF!!!

Pettine also wanted one, but was overruled by the Bills' offer.

That being said, we have some defensive players nearing the end of their shelf lives that need replacing, so I see that happening

As a Skins fan, no chance in hell they take a WR in the 1st. Not with Garcon, DJax, Roberts and Grant. They need OL badly.

You think Gurley will still be a 1st round pick? I think it will be difficult for teams to invest their 1st rounder in him, but will be head over heels for him in the 2nd.

Garcon has failed to catch more than five passes since Week 3. He also has not been targeted more than six times since Week 3.

The draft is more than one round.

 I wanted it talked about.

Still don't think the Skins go WR. They have so many more needs than a WR.

That's cool.

But Amari Cooper is going to be really good and the Skins' WR corps isn't exactly transcendent.

While they can use OL help, I don't think they'll address it in the top 10.

Oh no doubt, I like Cooper alot. But as a Skins fan, I know we need more than a WR. Unless they trade one of their current WRs in the draft, I see them going OL in the 1st.

Yeah I'd like to hear other's opinions too. From everything I've read, people seem to think he will fall into the 3rd and 4th rounds now. I think that's too far. I think he'll be a hot commodity in the early 2nd. I can't deny how scary it would be if he goes to Seattle in the late 1st. When he's healthy he'd be a top 5 RB for many many years there.

They're going to take a non-Left tackle in the top 10?

Good question. I think they could go Scherff and move him to RT. Williams is a FA after the 2015 season I believe.

I think everyone has seen what the Cowboys have done in the draft with three number one picks devoted to strengthening the line and what DeMarco Murray has done this year.

They used a high pick to land the left tackle but the other two were mid and late round interior guys. Their isn't a precise formula so if a team has the left tackle and some other pieces where if they land an impact interior guy and if someone like that is available in this draft then we might see some other team go that route in the draft.

If I had to guess on what the Seahawks are going to do...

Offense

I think they understand the Marshawn Lynch era is coming to a close. To fans this means get another RB, but I think they double-down on O-linemen. Wilson severely needs more time to pass the ball as the O-line today is a very strong run-blocking group when healthy and a below average pass-blocking line otherwise.

In addition to this, I think they go out and grab a tall WR who can be a red-zone threat and someone who can high-point the ball better than what we have today.

Defense

I don't see too much here honestly. The defense had a down year this year but it is partially due to some unfortunate injuries. I would think they'll need to go DE with the likely departure of Cliff Avril in addition to not much happening on the other side of him too, but I don't think they'll go that way early unless someone they really like drops to them.

Titans will probably replace Oher. He's been terrible.

Fubar suggested Cooper in another thread and that makes a lot of sense too.

Moving a very good DE to OLB then drafting a DE is something bad teams would do. I sure hope this is wrong.

As I said before, I'd be ok with every pick being a CB. The first seems far reaching, so I guess every pick after round one would be better. I'm tired of bleeding at this position. It started when Cortland was there. The CB opposite him was terrible and effortless to complete passes there. It's painful to watch. Then somehow Verner ate his wheaties and became a stud at about the time Cortland got old. Now we've got nothin' and since Griffin is gonna tackle them anyway, it'd just be easier if the WRs would make an effort to run toward Griffin. I mean we're giving them a free pass, it's the least they could do.

Seven(pick from Pats maybe another) CBs would at least give me an assurance that two can play.

Thoughts of offering Whisenhunt to the Bucs for a pick are ideal

Lions

If Brian Xanders were running the 2015 draft we would address the area of greatest need: 1st and a 4th on O lineman, 2nd/3rd on the back 7.

Since that's a fantasy and it will be another Mayhew #### show, expect 3-4 skill position picks. Xanders will find UDFA again, the only thing that saves their rookie class from being a complete bust year after year.

Redskins are fine at WR with needs elsewhere. I don't see that.

I am still of the opinion that RGIII is fantastic and misplaced in this offense, so they either change to suit him or trade him.

There have been reports that Cruz won't be able to return as he was. This is just a theory and we know of plenty of athletes people said that about that returned just fine. Still...Cooper doesn't go past them.

Otherwise, they added possibly 10 linemen last offseason. Obviously not all made the team, but there was a big overhaul. I don't think every single one panned out as expected. A high pick would surely help the OL.

Ernie is long retired. He would find a gem of a RB and DE without using a top pick. He was arguably the best ever at this. Reese hasn't had anywhere near the success of Ernie.

I think Reese is gone if Coughlin is. He's only had one rookie start 16 games since he started drafting without Ernie and that guy is aptly named Pugh.

A new GM in NY will feel compelled to make a splash so whomever is the biggest name will go there.

Unless the Pats give up on Dobson, they don't need to go WR. They just got rid of KT and Boyce because they didn't have enough room for them.

If I had to guess, Shaq Thompson is a BB dream come true and he's telling them to get him by trade if need be

Regarding the Saints...

YES! The line has been mostly terrible all year. The tackles, especially on the right, have been atrocious but the interior play has been less than stellar. The Center has been a stopgap with Goodwin. Brees needs the line to play much better otherwise it's the same inconsistent play that you see today.

OLB is not a need. Maybe ILB because Hawthorne is lousy.

Well I think Andy deserves some sort of prize for a mid November mock no matter what.
Agreed!

Baltimore largest needs appear to be inside O-line and cornerback. Unless you're Dallas, you usually don't address the former in the 1st so I'd say Peters, Williams, Olomu, or whoever else are top CB options.

I would suspect the Pats to avoid WR in the first at all costs. I myself would be very happy and Parker is the type of player BB likes to draft....the obvious player with injury history.

I also would expect him to be gone much earlier in the draft and I think they would have to trade up to get him.

Great job and fun topic.

Eagles' needs:

CB

ILB

S

Rush OLB

OL

QB

WR especially if Maclin leaves.

This team has holes and lacks depth at many positions. IMO it attests to Kelly's ability as a coach. Eagles go BPA and still likely fill a need.
