So, I stayed 13 hotel nights without maid service. (1 Viewer)

Not sure about you 6 figure earners, but when we travel, we bring our own sheets and immediately drop the do not disturb sign. I have heard many stories about things disappearing from rooms. We just made 13 nites without turndown. Also, my wife showers with her flip flops on. Are we uber paranoid or do you all have the same concerns? :hot:

I do get grossed out at the thought of staying at a hotel and some guy the night before jizzing on the same bed I am now sleeping on. But I'm also far too lazy to bring sheets.

Shower sandals are a good idea though.

Totally weird.

Not everyone can afford suites at the Plaza Otis.

Sometimes a best western is all there is.

Sometimes I go to the pizzeria but I don't trust those guys, so I bring my own cheese and crust and go back there and make my own pizza.

I only stay at Motel 6 type places and I've never had a problem. I really don't know what there is to steal though. Its not like we just leave a bunch of jewelry sitting around. Any thing of value is pretty much coming with us.

I'm not saying you don't stay at nice places when you travel, so say you and the wife travel to another big city (Chicago, LA, etc.) and stay in a JW Marriott or equivalent. It's a $400 or so/night hotel, so obviously for the 2 nights you're there for a weekend you expect nothing short of excellence. The night before, Europeans with a lot of money and bedbugs/nasty hygiene stayed in the same room. Obviously housekeeping is good there or their rep wouldn't hold, but they might not have 100% eradicated them. Things happen.

I'm just saying, you take that risk when you travel, expensive hotel or not. I traveled for 4 years internationally all over the world and have stayed in some 4-5 star hotels, and have definitely stayed in rooms that stunk and/or were not turned over as you'd expect for bedding, showers not as clean as could be, etc. I never got bed bugs, but definitely had a few stays where I questioned the cleaning staff and what was lurking. In close, I don't dismiss X's methods here from a sanitary perspective.

It's one of my pet peeves with Mrs. Smails. She just would rather not have anybody in the hotel room. So she puts the DND sign up and just requests fresh towels. I like the room cleaned with turndown service etc.

You take a risk when you go out in public. Are you going to wear a mast and live in a bubble?

You are really terrible at analogies.
Sometimes I go pay for a masseuse but then I just let my wife massage me instead.
Sometimes I make bad analogies on a message board and then make another.
Sometimes I hire a cleaning lady but she's kind of dirty maybe so after she leaves I just clean the place myself.

The one thing about having a mast on your head is people will give you a wide berth.

A guy I went to technical school in the Air Force with was staying at a Holiday Inn near the base for the entire six month training. Every time I went to go pick him up for school there were weird people around and the carpets of the rooms were really dirty.

Anyway, he was seeing this chick and she called him to inform him that he had given her crabs. He told her he must have gotten them from the bed at the Holiday Inn, although that guy was nailing some really dirty broads at the time.

We'll never know whether the Holiday Inn or a skank gave him the crabs, but he was convinced it was the former.

Of course not, but I don't fault the OP for having concerns about these things in a hotel room.

Look at me!! I can afford to stay in buildings when I travel!!

:lmao:

This is a mystery that doesn't deserve to go unsolved.

102 82 (forgot bonus) nights so far this year... I appreciate coming back to fresh clean sheets every evening. Don't get that at home.

Never once had an item stolen. Use a little common sense and you are fine.

You do realize they change the sheets right?
Not the bed spread
I usually take the bedspread and fold it up, and place it at the foot of the bed on the floor. Then I wash my hands.

I stayed at a Days Inn in some Louisiana ####hole that was so nasty, I didn't want my dogs to walk on the floor. There was a hand print on the wall that looked pretty fresh, we kept the dogs on the bed and touched almost nothing in the room. The place was on our route, but I haven't stayed in a Days Inn since. Next three nights we stayed in the Ritz Carlton in NOLA, so my woman almost forgave me for the Days Inn. ALMOST.

I hate missing the turn down service.
With a happy ending?
I wouldn't mind a walking in on a hot maid willing to have a threesome. Any hotels offer that service?
Yes, in Amsterdam or Manilla.
I went here for work once like 6 years ago, stayed at the Shangri-La Makati. Went to the hotel pool on Sunday afternoon. Gorgeous, cloud free sunny hot afternoon. I sat down with my iPod and chilled. It took me less than 5 minutes to figure out, my non-worldly self at that point being on my second out of the country travel job - first to Asia, that all the old fat men in the pool paid for all the women that looked no older than HS students in the pool fawning all over them. Sickening.

Amsterdam? I stayed at the wrong place.Or asked the wrong questions.
Yeah, be careful what you ask. I stayed in a hotel in Thailand and asked for a room with two queens.

I get wierded out when I'm about to jizz on the bed that some guy jizzed on the night before. Doesn't stop me though. :oldunsure:

You are uber paranoid.

I've stayed in all sorts of hotels, worst to best, and never once have I brought my own sheets or "shower sandals."
