I thought the league size and having no supplemental drafts worked well.

I could be talked into an auction if we have enough time for it.

Re: auctions

I haven't found any free sites that can handle a slow auction.

Yahoo and others can do a live auction but I don't that's practical with 24 teams.

The only other alternative would be do some kind of single-round blind bidding. Everybody nominates one player per round. Owners can bid all or part of their round allowance on one or more players per round. Blind bids get opened and players awarded. Unspent round allowance or some portion gets rolled to the next round and the process repeats through round 15 or so. The remaining players go into the snake draft. I don't think it would be a total cluster but we probably should have started a couple of weeks ago.

I don't thing we have enough time to do a slow auction. 24 players to bid on each day might be too much :nerd: for me.

Didn't someone come up with the idea to be able to draft a supplemental pick? So you could spend your 5th round pick on the right to draft a player at the end of the season. If you were the first person to do so, you get the 1st pick in the supplemental draft or something like that.

I would also like to extend the draft at least a couple more rounds although I am sure I am in the minority.

In. I want to do bobacarow's idea of drafting a supplemental pick, otherwise no supplemental draft

I agree with this (I'd go 45 or 50 if others wanted) and don't like the supplemental thing. Everyone had enough PAs/IPs last time, why do we need supplemental?

:shrug:I used Bautista too, pretty sure Wright made a team.

In. I think we need to walk through the logistics of the "waiver" draft pick, but conceptually I think that was the best way to handle supplemental picks that we came up with.

I agree. I'm not sure how it would work best. For those who don't remember, the idea is that you can pick a "supplemental pick" in the draft, like a regular pick. So in round 3 I pick a "supplemental pick" and at the end of the season I pick an undrafted player with that pick. And the order of the supplemental draft is naturally set by the order the picks were chosen:Supp 1.1 Jfranco (original pick 3.6)Supp 1.2 Arsenal (original pick 6.5)Supp 1.3 SoCal (original pick 11.15)But, how many valid picks would there be in the supplemental draft? I remember Vogelsong and Jerome Williams, but I don't remember too many of the other undrafted players. What if we have 40 supplemental picks and there aren't 40 players worth picking? Too bad, so sad I guess.I assume that I could pick 2 supplemental picks before someone took 1. I would also assume that people aren't required to pick supplemental picks if they don't want to. Maybe there's a limit of 2-3 of them per team. Since you're picking 40 players, some of who aren't going to qualify anyway, it's not like it's a big loss if you can't use a supplemental pick on anyone good.

I kind of agree with the moops that the uncertain future value of the picks is the key thing separating this format from the usual WIS sim. If we're going to do supplemental picks, we shouldn't wait until the end of the season to make them. They should happen no later than the All-Star break.

I vote for no supplemental draft thing. Sort of takes away from the whole idea of this thing, IMO.
I actually agree. It would take away from the nature of this draft entirely. I think if we do anything, we should increase the # of players drafted by 5 or 10. Yes, rounds 41-50 will reveal a lot of garbage but I think it will give us a few more lottery tickets to create PA/IP insurances across the positions. In addition, it could create more trade talks near the end of the season due to the flexibility the extra players could create for some teams.

Also, how many AAA players were we allowed last year? If we have them, I see no reason not to allow however many AAA players as allowed.

I think we had 3 or 4 made up AAA guys. I dont see why we cant just extend the draft another few rounds to fill those spots

in, and that was my idea to use a normal draft slot - as the drafter's discretion - to pick a "future pick". I think it's brilliantly diabolical, or diabolically brilliant. I don't think you need any other rules around it, other than to decide when you want to hold that future draft.

Go ahead and throw the future pick in. Limit it to 1. What is it gonna hurt? Could add something to the draft.

Preferably same size, maybe smaller, certainly not biggerProbably notNahHopefully Brandon IngeYes, 2008-11 are outliers. 2007 was the real deal.
