Minor spoilers below about the setup of the show, all of which is revealed in the first 10 minutes or so of the pilot.

I greatly enjoyed the premiere. Jim Caviezel is sort of a Jack Bauer type who has fallen on hard times and Michael Emerson is the guy who comes in to give his life some direction. Emerson helped the government build an anti-terrorism device years ago that would track everyone's phone calls, faces, etc, and help "predict" when and where and who would be involved in more serious crimes (terrorism) and "irrelevant ones" (single person murder, local crime, etc). He has SS#'s delivered to him regarding the irrelevant ones and knows that the person attached to it will be involved in some way, but doesn't know their involvement or when it will happen. And he enlists Caviezel as the muscle, which is especially important since Emerson's character appears to be crippled in some way. Caviezel isn't just a strongman though, he's some sort of special-ops trained soldier.

I thought it was going to be more like the Denzel movie "Deja Vu", but it wasn't so hocus-pocus like that. This was much better, and had a very "Enemy of the State" feel to it. Definitely an action show. Hopefully the formula doesn't get old quickly, and at least there won't be a shortage of storylines. Add in the NYC backdrop, and I'm really looking forward to the next episode.

I liked it too. Sepinwall gave it a bad review, but I thought it was good. Much more violent than most shows on network tv. Good stuff. I'm in.

I hate this guy sepinwall.I thought it was meh but I will give it 2-3 episodes as I really like the actors.

I enjoyed last night's ep. That said, the show is starting to feel a bit more like a standard cop type show to me... just the two main characters operate largely outside of the the law enforcement and judicial system.

I'm not sure how they could do it, but I hope they largely avoid the typical cop show vibe and storylines.

I was actually a person losing interest in this show, but the last episode (#10) was fantastic.

I found it interesting, but I am starting to dislike the usual Hollywood anti CIA we are just as bad, or worse, than any other country.

I continue watching just to see how many more times they can pull the switch where the "identified victim" ends up being the killer.

I enjoy the show - I think the problem is that neither character - Linus or Cavaziel's - are all that likable. Their characters are not engaging.

Add a young techno quirky nerd to run the machine and stuff - and maybe a little humor - and the show gets much better. But then Linus character would be irrelevant.

I just wish that this show was not up against Bones, so it could shine a little more in the ratings and guarantee itself a renewal.

the whole premise, which they are upfront about, is that the number could be identifying a victim or a killer.i really liked the episode with...
that Just Shoot Me guy as the mob boss. Quite the Keyser Soze vibe.

It may be the premise, but that doesn't stop them from doing everything to make the PoI look like the one needing protection.

Does she have any enemies?

Who would want to kill her?

So I'm watching the show and Ben Linus is saying the intro "You are being watched. The government has a secret system, a machine that spies on you every hour of every day".

Without even thinking about I blurt out "Yeah, a wife". I thought my wife sitting next to me would be pissed but she was :lmao:

Fusco has really come a long way since the start of the series, he almost carries the show now, almost. This was a great episode, though if you were a US Marshall, you might not have like it as much.

Wow, based on this thread, I started watching Season 1. I am hooked. This is some cool ####.

Love this show, but absolutely hate that they killed Carter. Definitely needs more Zoe and Shaw though. I hope we see Fusco take on a bigger role now with Carter gone, always liked him even though he has played 2nd fiddle cop more often than not

This shows my guilty pleasure. Been watching since the pilot episode. Great premise - a new take on some tried and true TV themes. Just fresh enough and sophisticated enough to overcome for some big plot holes etc - it makes you want to suspend disbelief and the characters are great, especially for the genre.

Definitely above average cinematography for network TV, and lets face it, the utterly unbelievable John vs the world action scenes kick ###.

Carter's loss sucks. My wife vowed not to watch again but she's fine and was back this week. Root will make it interesting at the least.

And John will keep on taking on full platoons with 6 bullets and a spear.

Great television that shares top billing with Law and Order SVU for best broadcast show. Everything about the show - acting, characters, plot, cinematography, etc, - has ramped up sharply this season.

Terrific story telling, the flashbacks really supported the current arc. Top shelf episode.

Fusco & Simmons facing off was a nice change of pace as I was expecting Reece to be he one. The dialog was :moneybag:

She reminded me that I could be good again. I could be a good father, a good friend. a good cop. I'm not gonna let you [simmons] undo all the good she did. Carter saved my life. She saved me from myself. Because she believed in me. And I'm not gonna throw all that away on a piece of crap like you.

Reese's "interview" in the flashback was flawless. Not for the back and forth and the eventual outcome, but for the lighting on his face. Get them a raise.

Elias literally coming out of the shadows and cleaning up the story was a piece of terrific work. They planted the meetings w/ Carter and Elias here and there up to this point w/o getting into too much detail, but again, the dialog hit the note when Elias dropped the "uncivilized" part of his exchange w/ Simmons. Not foaming at the mouth rage, but as calm and cool as can be. Well done.

Fusco getting his name from a lion cub at the zoo. Without hitting you over the head, points to Fusco as the police "protector" that was Carter's role.

Still not sure about Root, she's a crazy beach, so keeping her at arm's length.

Lastly, Johnny Cash's track at the onset was fresh as the show is not too big on using songs.

Still miss Carter though.

was advised (by my brother) early on in this series to think of it like a comic book. i find that adds to my enjoyment of the story lines.

Did Fusco ever find out who dug up the dead body of Stills?

We all know it was Carter but did she ever tell Fusco or did I miss it?

Thanks.

Well Said TD.

This is one of my favorite television episodes of the year.

I also really enjoyed the face off between Fusco and Simmons. That part was well written.
