Perhaps it may be beneficial for those playing in daily league games, or in leagues with daily lineups for an exchange of information/details that may assist in setting an optimal lineup.

Streaming pitchers, platoon players, guys called up, anything goes up in here.

let's have at it.

I've been toying with fanduel for a few weeks now, just feeling it out. I've played primarily 50/50 leagues and up just a bit so far.

I think that starting pitcher values are being overvalued on wins.

Last night Jordan Zimmermann was the highest valued pitcher on the board at $8,400 going against the Marlins.

More than 25% of owners grabbed him.

I am looking to target guys with higher k potential, and lower values to buy more offense.

I opted for Jesse Chavez at $4,900 vs LAA saving $3,500 in pitching and it worked out well, as Zimmermann only outscored Chavez by a single point 16-15

Ervin Santana was priced at $6,500 vs the Phillies. He may have been a decent pick too as he scored 16 points, but would have had 20 except for a blow lead late.

Either way, on pitching, I am looking to save money each day, target guys with good k-rates, or pitching against a team that strikes out a lot. I'll sacrifice what could be a win (4 points) in a league that rewards each strikeout and inning with a point.

I think hitters are more reliable - and will try to target good matchups where I find them.

I also look at over/under totals for games and ballpark effects.

I try to target offensive guys that are hitting at the top or middle of the lineup - particularly catcher, as most catchers bat 7-9, but sometimes you get a catcher batting second and may lead to an extra ab or run.

Lastly, weather seems to have a pretty big effect on these leagues. Nothing worse than having, 1,2, 3 guys in a game that is rained out or shortened due to rain.

Obviously none of this is rocket science, but I figured I'd lay the ground work for some lineups I am looking at each day.

Won in 5 of 6 on Draftkings yesterday. :pickle:

Lots of PPD action today it looks like: Cubs/Yanks already PPD, Braves/Phils and Rays/O's may also be in jeopardy?

My lineup on DraftKings so far is:

SP - Strasburg - $12,000 (no brainer, imo)

SP - Ventura - $7500

C - Mesoraco - $3600 (need to make sure he plays both the partial game and the next game)

1B - Goldschmidt - $5200 (at home/launchpad against Mejia)

2B - Hill - $4000

3B - Frazier $3400

SS - Escobar $3000

OF - Bautista $4900 (kills the Twins and gets HomerHughes)

OF - Moreland $3200 (against Beavan at home)

OF - Snider $3200 (another one I need to make sure is playing, Leake is starting for the Reds)

That's what I'm talking about Tre

Mesocaro is tied for the the Reds team lead in doubles and HR's

And he's only had 20 pa's :loco:

btw, roof open at AZ tonight (should be), so I am definitely leaning on starting lots of D'Backs

http://arizona.diamondbacks.mlb.com/ari/ballpark/information/index.jsp?content=roof

Gonna be cold in Cincy tonight, I think I may opt for my starters to be south and west.
We get a Cincy preview for the finish of yesterday's game... so that's nice.

Any advantage to DraftKings vs. FanDuel or vice versa?
I believe Draftkings is the only one that lets you do lineup changes after the first game starts. Otherwise they're all pretty similar...different sites have different prices and slightly different scoring too.

I listen to a lot of xm fantasy radio and they play all of the sites and look for perceived values based on site. I don't have that much time.

TB/BAL finally PPD

Also, as an aside, I've had the rotowire daily lineups page up all day and I just noticed they have a free app too. Basically when they see a lineup available they post it there so you don't have to hunt around to see who is playing on a given day.

The app is called Rotowire Daily Lineups.

Cutch kind of tweaked his bat in his first AB in the 7th of the postponed game. He stayed in and hit a double and is out in the field. Will be interesting with the cold weather to see if he goes in the next game later or if he tightens up.

I try to target offensive guys that are hitting at the top or middle of the lineup - particularly catcher, as most catchers bat 7-9, but sometimes you get a catcher batting second and may lead to an extra ab or run.
 This immediately jumped out at me as a pretty obvious strategy, doesn't seem like the $ values account for it at all, I threw a small deposit in at draftkings tonight to play around with it a bit.

With my deposit I got a free $2 ticket for the "late $200 guaranteed moon shot" contest. Looks like the top 22 positions (out of 115) get paid.

Sitting in 4th/115 right now, with the games a little more than half over. Tested high in the order strategy taking Jaso, Venable, Duda, Kendrick for relatively cheap to go with Wright, Trout, CarGo and Tulo (Mejia and Richards pitching). I don't think I'm going to stay up and see how it turns out though, I guess that's the downside of the "late game only" contest but I can see this being pretty addictive.

Some small sample sizes for today:

HOT:

Desmond Jennings has 3 homers in 18 AB against Gonzalez, but is hitting .222 (4-18)

So, general strategy/how to make most money question, I noticed fangraphs has a daily article for these league (the daily grind), to be honest they seem like a rambling mess to me, but one has this at the top of it:

1. Know your strengths

I’ve mentioned my consultee a few times (he didn’t appreciate being called surly yesterday!). When we started working together, most of our daily entries went to 50/50 formats on Draft Kings. My proven track record of success comes from FanDuel tournaments, so we probably both should have known better than to bulk up on 50/50′s on a foreign platform. Well, we’ve identified those double up games as the biggest drag on our profit and decided to cut them from our repertoire. We have to win over 60% of the time to see any real profit from 50/50′s. Conversely, I can spike one tournament lineup every three weeks and still double my money (and I’ve spiked four in 15 days).

So the moral of the story is simple. I win money playing tournaments. I lose money playing 50/50′s. What the hell am I doing playing 50/50′s? If you prove yourself in one format but hemorrhage money in another, then maybe you should focus on your strength.
I guess it comes down to how high you're finishing (i.e. if you're finishing 25-30 out of a 60 team 50/50, that's likely you're best bet, where if you're finishing top 5, maybe a tourament strategy)? LOL at me pretending there's strategy here and the house won't win in the end, but any thoughts?

Have this so far for the early games, still waiting on LAD/SF lineup. Now with position in the batting order!

SP Verlander 12200

SP Gibson 8000

C Suzuki 3000 (7th)

1B V-Mart 4000 (4th)

2B Seager 3400 (5th)

3B Plouffe 3900 (3rd)

SS Miller 3800 (2nd)

OF Byrd 4200 (4th)

OF Bautista 5200 (3rd)

OF Mayberry 2300 (5th)

I have this right now - not a fan of many SP2 or C options

P A.J. Burnett P Atl@Phi $5,900
P Justin Verlander P Cle@Det $12,200
C Carlos Santana Cle@Det $4,300
1B E. Encarnacion Tor@Min $4,100
2B Robinson Cano Sea@Tex $4,800
3B Pablo Sandoval LAD@SF $3,600
SS Brad Miller Sea@Tex $3,800
OF Abraham Almonte Sea@Tex $3,300
OF Mitch Moreland Sea@Tex $3,600
OF Alex Rios Sea@Tex $4,400

Agree on the SP2/C issue for early games. Went cheap with Suzuki and he's 3-10 with a homer against Dickey. Gibson looks decent early on and should get some Ks in this crap weather.

OF Mayberry 2300 (5th)
An earlier version of my lineup had Dickey at SP, using Mayberry to save a couple grand, seems like a good deal today, I just know Dickey will either pitch 8 strong or get chased after 4 innings and the weather makes me fear for the latter.
Walk-Walk-DP to start...dodging bullets.
Got a nice called strike three 6 inches off the plate to get out of it.
