SUPER ELITE UPPER TIER
As some of you may know, my Aunt passed away recently from cancer. It was pretty devastating for me. So I'm doing this walk to help raise money. I honestly have never done anything like this, but thought I'd put this out here. I don't expect anyone to really get crazy, but even if you could donate a buck or two, it would be greatly appreciated. I know most of us don't know each other personally, so if I ended up getting nothing, I'd totally understand. But I feel like if I didn't at least put this out here and use my resources of the FFA I'd be doing my Aunt's memory a huge disservice.

Thanks for at least taking the time to read this.

TIA

My mom is a multiple myeloma survivor, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society helped her out a ton when she had to go in for a stem cell transplant.

I'll send ya some sheik

Thanks, GB! I appreciate it greatly.

Thank you Shiek.

This is the 3rd year my family is participating in the Light the Night Walk @ Princeton, NJ. We walk in support of my wife, who is currently battling Myelodysplastic Syndrome (same thing Robin Roberts had/has) and in memory of my mother who passed away from multiple myeloma.

Here is a link to my fundraising page if any of you are willing to support my family: http://pages.lightthenight.org/nj/Prince14/BSage

Thanks,

Thanks for the guys who put some money towards this. As I said, even the smallest amount is greatly appreciated.

I hope people don't mind, but I'll probably go and bump this every so often. I'll try not to get obnoxious with it.

Thanks again, everyone. It means a lot.

I'm going to bump this one more time today. And then probably one last time next week. Again, every little bit helps.

TIA

This board moves fast- I hadn't seen this until now. So definitely keeping bumping this, the more the better.
Yeah. I just don't want to become annoying with it. So, like I said, I'll just bump it here and there until the walk. Thanks, GB.
Happy to give, and to keep bumping for you since many FFA'ers already think I'm annoying.

I keep a mental list of everyone that I donate to, buy candy from, buy popcorn from, buy overpriced crappy Christmas ornaments from, and those that I just give money to in order to support.

When my kids get old enough to ask for money, I am going to unleash hell on these people.

You are now on this list.

;)

Thanks, GB. I appreciate it. And I'll gladly return the favor.

Now that I've gotten in arguments with people in a couple of threads, I guess I'll go ahead and bump this again asking for donations. Seems like a good time.

Remember, this is for cancer fighting research. So even if you don't like me or the things I've said in the past, this isn't about me. This is about helping find a cure for cancer. Also, I hope you like me.

This is important because it works. LLS helps beat blood cancers.

Here's a story: my mom was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma 12 years ago. Ironically my wife and i were going to announce that we were pregnant with our first child, my mom's first grandchild, when the diagnosis came.

The doctor told my mom that had she been diagnosed 3 years before this they would have told her she had less than 3 years left to live, but there were some new procedures that they could try. It started with a lot of Chemo and then she went to Cleveland for a Stem Cell Transplant. Here's the explanation as best i can explain it, which could be flawed: They take her own stem cells and harvest them, then they use extreme chemotherapy to basically destroy her immune system. Then her stem cells are transplanted back and they go to work rebuilding her immune system. It was a long process and obviously not fun at all.

As part of the whole process she was (and still is) on Thalidomide. If that sounds familiar it could be from Billy Joel's "We didn't start the fire". IT's a drug that causes horrible birth defects (flipper babies) and was all but banned. Well now they have found it can be used for some blood cancer. It's a brutally expensive drug, but there are programs that pay for it for people who need it. There's also a whole process you need to go through to declare you will not or cannot get pregnant and will not allow access to other people, etc...

She recently had an oncology exam and there is no sign of the cancer. She is now 11 years cancer free

These cancers can be beaten. For my mom's a combination of stem cells and bringing a discarded drug back took her cancer from a situation where there was no hope to a decade of her seeing her grandson grow up. All of this has happened within the last 15 years, we are making strides constantly. The LLS helped my mom throughout this process. They also heavily support research for blood cancers, helping find cures for more and more ailments.

So please consider donating, your funds can really make a difference.

Walk is coming up. Figured I'd bump this again.

Please, please, please, if you can, just donate a small amount. Really, any amount is greatly appreciated.

Bumping this for Shiek and myself.

I know I don't have much, if any, board cred but I would greatly appreciate any support you guys, and gals, are willing to provide.

Walk is this weekend. Thank you to everyone who donated. It really is amazing what the power of the internet can do. This really means a lot to me and I thank you guys from the bottom of my heart.

Sheik, you doing the Light the Night Walk this year? If so, please post a link to your donation page. I'll kick a few bucks in if you are participating again.

My family is not going to be able to do the walk this year.

I am. I haven't set up my page just yet, though. I actually wasn't going to post it this year because I felt everyone was already so kind to donate last year, i didn't want to keep pestering.

When I get it set up, I'll put it up in here.

Thanks, for asking.

It's a good cause and the FFA loves supporting our own. Not pestered at all.

My walk is this weekend. Again, even if you just donate $5, it would be greatly appreciated. You guys are amazing. Thanks for your help.

Light the night is a great cause. I used to work for a company that made blood donation and transfusion equipment and every year they have multiple fund raisers. I still participate in putting together out golf tournament to help raise funds. This year the company of 2000 people helped raise over $120,000.

Throwing some $$$ your way in honor of your aunt. You're doing great work and should be proud.

OK, I lied. Another BUMP.

Walk is this Saturday.

Again, I am walking for 2 people. My Aunt, who passed away last summer. She was like my 2nd mom. My fiance is a survivor. She had Stage 4 Hodgkin's and is now 10 years cancer free. But more importantly, this is for the millions of other people who either have or will get this. Mothers, fathers, sons, daughters... Any little bit helps. $5 here and there could save the life of someone you may know.
