I'm sorta new to forums and all...so bear with me. I've poked around and couldn't find the answer to this question...if it's out there just direct me to the right place and I'll look it up....here's the question...I've got DD and LD...obviously LD is updated on a regular basis. I want to be able to take that updated file and place it into DD so that I can begin looking at keepers, salaries, needs, etc for our league teams next year.
In other words I'm wanting to begin doing some mock drafts, et al, with current NFL player ratings as reflected in Lineup Dominator. Make sense?

The DD usually comes out around May each year. Keep an eye out for it, as well as the early bird special to get a jump on next year.

I am in a league that drafted last year and there have been multiple roster modifications. I would like to load the rosters in the draft dominator. Do you have to "fake" the draft? Or can you enter team by team the rosters?
You can do Team By Team if you Right Click on the Player and select the team from the popup menu.
If the players count against draft picks, I'd recommend adding them to the keeper list with the correct Round and Pick.

Why won't the DD update the player rankings. I feel pretty sure that Tom Brady is not the #4 QB behind a QB like Cambell.

Make sure you enter a schedule (File - Setup - Schedule). If you don't know your schedule yet, enter Avg. Points for each week.

I run a league with IDP through Yahoo. We start 4 DB's and 4 DL's, but the problem is that DL in Yahoo is a LB or a DL. How do I distinguish the two in set up?
I currently have it:
Defensive Backs - 4.00 Roster Spots - 10.00 (wasn't sure what to put here, you can have as many as you want on your bench)
LineBackers - 0..00 Roster Spots - 0.00 (I have the Flex Box Checked)
Defensive Linemen - 0..00 Roster Spots - 0.00 (I have the Flex Box Checked)
Flex IDP - 4.00 Roster Spots - 10.00 (wasn't sure what to put here, you can have as many as you want on your bench)
I have bench at 10.00 for all positions for the reason above (is this right too?)
Is this right? Any tricks?
After Keepers - Marion Barber #1... really? It is amazing how Larry Johnson has fell to the depths after being the question mark of who is #1 last year!

The way you have it should work. Typically I like to bring my rosters spots down to what people normally carry on their teams. If you step through the DD by clicking the Move Player button over and over... does it look ok?

It looks okay... but I never draft DL and only LB. I was just a little disturbed by doing my mock drafts that it picks the DL spots for me and some other guys in my league that only draft WSLB or MLB like me.
As long as it works correct during the draft next Saturday I will be fine.
Thanks!

Just a few examples...
SJax...8th
Brady...15
Moss...21
Does the draft dominator not use the collective rankings of the writers of this site?
Also, how do I run a mock using ADP instead of the DD rankings? Im getting Owens and/or Wayne at the end of the second round...thats not realistic anymore.
Thanks for your help!

Why are the rankings on the DD so much different from the site rankings? My league uses the standard scoring....no ppr...and the difference between the DD and the site rankings is huge.

The standard DD projections use just the projections of David Dodds. To get more balanced input, use the Projections Dominator and set the weighting of the 5 experts to 20% each. You can then import the PD rankings into DD.
For ADP, ensure that "Draft Other Teams by ADP" box is checked in the MISC section.

Maybe Im slow...but I cant find a place to determine the weight of the 5 experts. I did it without determining the weight of the experts and it looks MUCH better. The only issue I have now is that SJax dropped to #10 overall. I have the 3rd pick and am debating between Westbrook, SJax, and Addai
In PD, click on the + sign next to one of the positions and the list of players at that position will appear.
Click on any player and you'll notice some new boxes across the top.
Click on "Set Weights" and a grid will show up.
Enter the percentage of weighting you want applied to each expert.
Ensure the "Apply to Current Player Only" box is NOT checked if you want to apply it to all players.
Click on Apply Weights and then on Close.
Ensure you save the file.

Why do the IDP's in one of my leagues show odd (93.7, 122.3, 108.6, etc.) point totals, when all scoring is all in true numbers?
Do you have any weights set in the GameByGame window?

They are at 1.0 whatever that means
It's really not a big deal, it just looks strange to me and I was wondering why it is that way.

The DD shows one decimal place, so that you can decide between two players with 108 points for example. Instead of showing 108 for both players, it might be 108.7 for one and 108.2 for another...

In the past few years, the first set of projections along with 1st DD release has been right around last weekend of May/1st week of June.
You probably don't want to set up any leagues with the old DD version because they do tend to make annual additions to the DD so you will eventually have to download the 2009 version and start over again at that point to avoid any bugs.
It depends on the changes Bruce makes. I haven't had any problems importing league files the last couple of years...
The problems aren't associated with changes. The problems are that if you've prostituded the DD function for off-season results (i.e., customized for drafting in the pre-NFL Draft time), you're stuck with that version for the next period.
For instance: a custom scoring may need false indicators to get the installed player values up to the League norm. When the seasonal update occures, the values set for the established players, and the doctored scoring indicators, need to be left intact.
To accomplish that, you just don't import values for players that you've pre-established, i.e., you continue to use the artificially altered veteran's values that you've established for the pre-season.
It would sure be a good idea to just issue the Rookies and their team affiliations in a seperate release....in a "Rookie Lite" version if you will.
Everybody's gonna tweak the Rookie values anyway. But to pre-load the Rookies, and their team affiliations, into a quick update would sure be the "Cat's Meow."
Identify the values attached to each Rookie with a qualifier....that the points are a best guestimate and that the Importer has to be aware of the method used to establish individual Rookie player point values.

Sorry this is way early in the season to be discussing this, but I'm as hardcore of a FF player as anyone else.
In light of all the Wildcat hype with direct snaps to RBs who may end up passing the ball a lot more, in the DD scoring setup can we have separate scoring options for RBs and WRs passing? By the same token, receiving scoring for QBs? I can see Chad Pennington or Pat White catching one for a TD this year.
Thanks for listening!

Two ways that I can I think of that might allow you to do this - BUT each will involve manual input:
In PD, set each rookie to 0 in the USER projects and have User projections = 100%. A slightly easier way would be to set your weights within PD for all players. then for the rookies, individually set their weights to be 100% 2008 stats. I believe if you've done it once, you won't need to reset the weights, as long as you don't change it.
I don't believe there is a global setting that would apply to all players.
Good luck.

I recently used MFL Import to import a 2009 league for DD. File loads into DD fine with complete rosters as of end of 2008 season, scoring settings, 2009 draft order, etc. However, when I ask DD to clear all team rosters, nothing happens. Any suggestions, besides moving each player from a roster to the player pool?
Yeah, open the league file with notepad and remove all the player lines in the Draft Summary, Team Data and Keeper areas.

I have DD open and the "Team Strength" box seems to be stuck in the upper left hand corner of the screen. The "X" is not visible so I am not able to close it... odd. i am sure its something simple, but I cant get it out of the way/closed. Help!
I'm not on my own PC to check this, but try going into (I think) View (or Window) Default. It will reset the window to the default view.
Good luck.

Can someone please explain to me why the rankings on the DD and PD are sooooooo different from the sites master rankings?
For example....Clinton Portis 6th on the DD and 12th on the Overall Rankings.
Forte is 4th on the Overal Rankings and 12th in the DD.
What is the deal here? I assumed the DD and PD were based on the sites average rankings from all the experts.....
Any insight would be greatly appreicated!
ALSO...I am starting a Dynasty league and would like to use the DD for that draft. Is there a way to have the DD show the rankings for a dynasty league?
THANK YOU ALL!

THANK YOU ALL!
I also have the same type of question. I have a league that drafts only rookies and left over FA from last season. Is there a way to account for age in the projections? If I tweak the projections manually, will it affect the 6 other leagues I use this for? For instance, it has Hasselback at QB18 and Staffard at QB25. Staffard will go WAY before Hasselbeck and it throws off my auction values. Keek in mind, each of the 10 teams has 24 keepers from 2008.
Is what I'm trying to do even possible with DD ???

In Draft Dominator, if I go to: File-Setup, under the "General" tab which it automatically shows after you hit Setup, it lets you enter your "Starters" in 3 columns (Starters, Roster Spots, and Flexed).
Say my league lets you start 2 RBs, 2 WRs, and then a Flex of either a RB or WR. How do I enter that as a value under the "Starters" column? I'm assuming I obviously want to check the "Flexed" box. However, do I enter 2.5 for Starting RBs and 2.5 for starting WRs? Or 3.0 for Starting RBs and 3.0 for Starting WRs?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Mark

Just put 2 in the starters column for RB and WR and 1 for Flex. Then check the flexed box for RB/WR. Do you use the TE as a flex too?
Hey George and thanks for the reply,
It is only a flex for RB and WR, no TE. So just to be clear, I would enter a value of 2 for starting RB, 2 for starting WR, 1 for flex, and then check the flexed box only for the RB and WR positions? Is that correct?
Also, what do I put in the column "roster spots" for the flex position (obviously I have one starting)? (my league is this: You can start: QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, RB/WR Flex, TE, K, Team Def. Then we have 9 bench spots that I can use for whatever I want (one to backup each starter).
So we have 10 teams and 18 rounds which totals 180 players taken. So each roster has 18 players. Ideally I'd like to carry 1 backup QB, 3 backup RBs, 3 backup WRs, 1 backup TE, and maybe 1 backup DEF and 1 backup kicker (although more than likely I'll use those last two bench spots on a RB, WR, or QB instead of a backup DEF and Kicker). So with all that said, how should I fill out the 3 columns of Starters, Roster Spots and Flexed?
Thanks!
~Mark

put 1 in the flex spot for starter and split the difference for the roster or favor one or the other if you like.
Okay I got the part about putting one in the flex spot for starter, but I'm not clear on what value I should be entering in the "Roster Spots" Category for the position named "Flex" ?
Thanks ShannonRyu.

Based on what you've said, this is how you should setup. The 4 flex will allow you to take the 4 best available between WR and RB. You can try 4 in there and change flex roster spots to 2, but I'd go this way. Run some mocks and see how it works for you.

The attached picture is super helpful, so I will try it setup that way. But I didn't quite understand what you meant when you said "You can try 4 in there and change flex roster spots to 2." ???
Also, is there a way to include individual return yards and scoring into Draft Dominator? (My scoring gives out 0.67 points per return yard and 6 points per return touchdown to the individual player, and not the Defense)
Thanks!

I don't think it works with the scoring you use for return yards. It's my experience that one of the very few limitations is it's inability to adapt to non-traditional scoring systems. That's not a knock, it couldn't possibly do everything. I love DD so much that I have adapted all my leagues to fit within what DD can do, scoring wise.
Hope this helps. Good luck.

I mean you could change the # of roster spots from 3 to 4 for WR and RB, but the RB, WR and Flex number for roster spots should equal 10 (according to what you said you wanted). I lean more to having it set with more FLEX spots. It will draft WR and RB in those spots but take the best available... which is what I think you should want. You could leave the flex # zero and put 5 in the RB and WR spot.

try to install directly on C: drive and not in vista's program files directory...Running vista and version "k" of the DD. It will no longer update. Gives me a communications error - "Error Getting Data". I'd say that something on my computer was affecting it but it worked on the old version. I am at an alternate location (as opposed to at home) but still have internet access. Anyone have any ideas?? Right now Favre still shows zero points and know that's got to have changed since last Thursday's update.
