What a moron! This guy caught Flutie's dropkick and then asks for the following in exchange for the ball.

''1. Payment of ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND ($100,000.00) DOLLARS [lawyer's capitals] on delivery of the football.

''2. A guarantee of eight (8) season tickets for 25 years in the end zone (preferably sections 142 or 143).

''a. The season tickets will be paid for annually by my client at the then going price for season tickets. The Patriots would not be expected to pay for the tickets.

Very respectable fans. :bag: This is terrible and I witnessed this stuff while working in the media in Detrot last year after the "brawl." The guy who got jacked by O'Neil was the biggest ### in the world and this is coming from a hardcore Pistons fan. I was embarrassed more about the fans after the incident, than I was before. Disgusting.

 
There's a 3rd demand on the next page of the article.Dude wants a Brady jersey in 9/06, signed by all the players of the '06/'07 team.

Reasonable requests when you put it like that, but 100 K and season tickets in the end zone for the next 25 years. I think he went a little overboard.

Flutie has millions because of fans just like him. He was lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time - more power to him.

Maybe it's explained in the article but I didn't read the whole thing. Shouldn't he try to use EBAY or some other auctioning service to determine the true market value and use that info as some of his leverage?

 
He probably should have settled for demands two and three. I think they probably would have given him that and a little more. It's the money that seems to sully these deals.

 
Bonds' record-tying 70th home run ball only fetched $50,000 at auction. This moron thinks some novelty drop kick is worth twice that? Even Chris Berman would stop bidding at $3,000.

 
This guy sounds like an owner in one of my dynasty leagues. He always makes such a ridiculous initial offer that there is no way to counter.

Yep, yippee for him.He deserves whatever the free market will bear if he sells the football.

I think he's going to learn pretty quickly than 25 years of season tickets and 100K is NOT FMV.

 
I forgot to express my sentiment that this is just desserts for the Patriots and Flutie. They wanted to showboat against the Dolphins, and it is biting them in the butt. :)

It doesn't seem to be biting them in the butt. They told him to enjoy the ball.
 
IMO, he screwed up when he asked for the cash. If the first request had read $100,000 donated by the team to Flutie's charity, he probably would have gotten the jersey and the ticket options. I don't think anyone would pay 100k for the "tuck rule" ball or one of Vinatieri's game winning FG balls, much less a glorified punt. Not to mention you can watch any CFL game to see someone punt a ball through the uprights for 1 point :rolleyes:

 
I have a USFL "Kickoff" Magazine with Doug Flutie on the cover from 1985.I bet I could get like at least half-a-mil and a sky box for that, right? ;) -QG

 
The demands he put out there were ridiculous. It's not exactly the Hope Diamond he's holding. If he wasn't so greedy and stupid, he would have had some sort of casual negotiations with the team to see where a starting point might be, and proceeded accordingly. The lawyer was stupid too for not counseling him better, and now they have come up empty. If I were the Patriots (or just a Pats fan for that matter), I'd be happier knowing this slimeball wasn't going to be in my stadium's end zone seats for the next 25 years. In addition to telling him to enjoy the ball, I'd tell him to enjoy being banned from the premises.

Reminds me of that episode of "Everybody Loves Raymond" where Ray's dad catches the college kicker's ball and then holds it ransom.

 
Why is it his ball to sell in the first place? If I kick my football into my neighbour's yard my neighbour doesn't get to keep it, even if he catches it in the air. Just throwing that out there.

 
Gut and I know what semi-valuable memorabilia things are worth. The ball didn't win a championship. Flutie isn't a hall of famer and the ball wasn't record setting. It's an obscure milestone. Is the ball from the first overtime win or the last recorded NFL tie worth much?
