10 mil guaranteed - thats #1 money. If there is even a shred of truth to this - that Koren will command that kind of money - then he is going to play a big role for whoever signs him.

He's just one of those guys that will never live up to his full potential as the outside forces of his life always seem to end up overtaking his talent (immaturity, alcohol, etc.)

Does he have the talent...yes. Does he have the full drive or capacity to succeed...no.

As a Seahawk fan, I laugh at the Vikings if they give him this kind of money.

The guy has been given second, third and fourth chances with the Seahawks and never learned from his mistakes. He is not going to start now.

Seattle got rid of their in-house cancers (i.e. Koren Robinson, Chris Terry, Anthony Simmons, etc.) and took in postive players (i.e. JJ, Darby, Tatupu, etc.) and look how it turned the Hawks around this season.

Robinson will not magically get better hands or learn from his mistakes after being paid big bucks. Bad move Vikings.....bad move.

On the character stuff: Everything I have read indicates that Koren really "gets it" and everyone around him says he has 100% turned it around. Other teams than the Vikes are interested him. I think I read that some Panthers players were recruiting him in hawaii. Here's a link to a thread about the article that convinced me that he is ok now:

On the Hands: I remember hearing that Darrell Jackson's hands were never going to get better. Antonio Bryant's hands are suspect, and he had a 1000 yard season. Koren has already had a 1200+ season. He can still produce in spite of them.

Im not saying you should break the bank for the guy, just its rare to get a starting WR with top 15-20 upside for as cheap as koren's value is right now. I acquired him in dynasty league along with julian peterson for marcus washington and dashon polk...

I'm in agreement with Bloom here. K-Rob is a prime candidate to target in a trade. People forget how young this cat is (only 25, soon to be 26). All indications point to him really turning his life around & it's not like he doesn't have a boat-load of natural ability...he does. I'm guessing his better lifestyle will produce more concentration which very well could, in turn, improve his pass-catching ability. At the very least, his newfound maturity will help him improve his skills (including his hands) much easier than the old Koren Robinson. I expect a big season in '06 (easy top-20, IMO).

This isn't about trading LT for Koren. The point is he's generally valued as a 40-50 rated WR and his upside is reasonably 10-20.

I was thinking this too. It's pretty hard to do much of anything consistently well if you are abusing alcohol the way he was. Who knows how many of his drops in Seattle had to do with too much partying and not having a clear head?I checked his stats from last year in Minn (LINK), and he caught 59.5% of his 37 targets and had 2 drops. That's a pretty healthy percentage (highest among Vikings WRs last year, better than Burleson, Williamson, Taylor, MRobinson), and with a 15.8 YPC they weren't dink passes. Also, I wonder how it is a WR with such bad hands can make the Pro Bowl as a kick returner, and also be involved in four end around running plays, as he was last year. I don't think the Vikings view him as a player with bad hands today.

10 million guaranteed over 4 years, is that really a lot? Not knowing the annual salary, it comes out to 2.5 million against the cap each year, 3.1 if he signs for the minimum annual amount.

It is for a guy with a questionable past that started the season as the #5 WR. Muhammad got 12 mil guaranteed last year. I think there was about 11.5 mil guaranteed in plax's deal. Derrick mason got a 7 mil signing bonus last year.it is a lot.

Let's not forget that Bloom clearly points out that this is just a rumor at this point, and the linked article says only "Word is the Vikings are inching closer to a contract agreement with free-agent receiver Koren Robinson that is expected to be for four years with at least $10 million guaranteed." The writer (Charley Walters, Pioneer Press) doesn't even give a vague indication where his source is coming from, whether it be from inside the organization, an agent, or the guy who shines his shoes. We'll see if these contract details come to pass.

Yeah, as a fantasy football player, you don't get penalized for your WR dropping passes. Conversely, if he gets 1200+ yards and 5 TDs, that's pretty good (as he did in 2002).I'll bump him up a lot in my rankings. This is great info. Koren's skill minus his character concerns really makes things nice from an owner standpoint. I won't have to have TO-itis every week wondering if he'll talk himself into suspension

Slow down there. You're talking as if there's no risk with Robinson.Chris Henry had put his past problems behind him. Onterrio Smith had turned it around. So had Ricky Williams. T.O. was going to be a model citizen in Philly too. There were feelgood articles on every one of these guys before they screwed up again, and all their teams and teammates were surprised when they did blow it.

There is a significant risk with KRob, regardless of any wonderful things currently being said about him. If any fantasy owner makes a play for this guy, he should do so with eyes wide open and knowing the risks.

Also remember that they had these feel good stories about Koren in Seattle already during a few off seasons. He has tried to turn it around already and resorted back to his ways. Heck, he was suspended for 4 games and then went to rehab only to be pulled over for a DUI and then showed up to court with alcohol on his breath. And lets not forget that he is one failed test away from being suspended for a year.

That is a huge risk for someone with the history of a player like Koren and I don see things changing that much if he is offered a fat contract full of guaranteed money.

I have a "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me." mentality about Koren, as he has never shown he has turned it around when saying he has.

Deservedly so. The guy is a total hack. That said, I don't doubt Koren will be made an offer by someone after his seeming 180, and making the probowl as a KR certainly didn't hurt his marketability.

The Star Tribune reports Minnesota Vikings WR Koren Robinson has agreed to a three-year deal to remain with the team. Financial terms were not immediately available, but the deal prevented Robinson from entering free agency when the market opened.
